Wilder OUT

We blew the 3-0 lead at Villa in the Championship. Despite his complete regression as a manager from that moment on, we somehow got promoted to the Premier League (and then stayed up the next season). Maybe he had a delayed reaction.
I am going senile in my old age 🤣

1pt better than this time last season.

Circus arrives early this year
I mean if you want to compare like that, then fine. If you want to compare against the same team as last season, which we twatted 3-0 in one of the few good performances of last time, then it's two points worse off. Although I'm sure Wilder apologists will point out that our first goal scorer is no longer at the club, the second goal scorer is also no longer at the club, and the guy that played for them who got sent off who half the board would want playing for us because gerremallback is no longer at their club, and none of that is Wilder's fault

Eh?

Poor poor timing of a post.

Yes today wasn't the best but Birmingham aren't no mugs. Remember last season?

Like a pre season game today and we NEED players.

Judge wilder this season after 10 games and support the lads at matches...
It's as though some on here can't wait for us to lose.
And that's without the usual smell of pork.
It's a new team, has to be now our 2 best forwards are gone.
At least give him 10 games or so and see what we're like after the window shuts.
Positives - we're unbeaten.

We drew a game against a team that's a similar level to us and a bunch of wet wipes on here are losing their minds. If we're talking about people being mardy and having a chip on their shoulder, there's only one place to look tonight.

If you read up, this feeling has been festering since March time if not before. He’s a spent force and we missed a big opportunity to get someone decent in post Selles. Wilders third stint with us 🥴

You're literally describing having a chip on your shoulder, if you can't get over it that's a shame, but do you really need to start hysterical threads at every opportunity?

(Not that this actually is an opportunity, it's a draw against a decent team).

No money,
No signings,
No ideas,
No directions,
No interest.
Wank.
1) yep, think that was clear for all to see this season with loss of parachute payments and new rules around finance

2) we have signed 4 players, 2 on loan, 2 permanent. 2 permanent bring experience and proven quality at PL/champ level

3) last season, we would have lost that game. Our defence was a joke. Tighten up was clearly the idea and we know that another 1 or 2 CBs is a almost a guarantee before the window closes

4) someone else said wilder doesn't have a clue, I think wilders direction is trying to replicate and improve on our season 2 years ago. Tough to break down. It might not be sexy football but with limited money, Its probably not a bad plan

5) I only listened on radio but crowd sounded half decent and interested, players sounded like they were working hard for each other and put a shift in.

6) couldn't manage another one today

Let's play a game of you be the manager.

You have a squad of players with only one winger on the books. Do you

A) Pick a formation that needs wingers to make it work and put players out wide on the wing out of position?

B) Choose a formation that suits the players that you have in your squad where players can play in their correct positions?
Whats option C ?

There is zero positivity with Wilder at the helm. Let’s be fucking underdogs and have a go. On paper we have a decent squad, on the sidelines we don’t have a manager that knows how to work beyond what he always does. He’s 1 dimensional and yet we keep greasing his bollocks as well as his wallet.

There is zero positivity with threads like this posted at the final whistle.

If you want someone to blame for the endless, relentless negativity, look in the mirror.

Haha.

Wilder out.

Great idea.

Like it or not, this is the project for now, and to shit the bed after one game, sack the manager, trust our owners to do something extremely risky, with fuck all money, and magically save the season (you know, like competing for top 8)...

Well I'm tempted to use old medical, now pejorative terms to describe this suggestion.

I'll stick to saying it seems a bad idea to me.

Unfortunately, my positivity on this board breeds from this team, manager and club.

The negativity has been around since Sunderland playoff final and has stunk the place out with zero sign of improving.

Yeah I agree, get rid of him. The owners have shown they’re trustworthy when it comes to replacing him so I’ve no doubt they’ll sort it & life will be better without him.
Indeed:). The current owners so far have
given him an extended contract
sacked him
Re-appointed him - 6 weeks later, with the team at platyed 5 - 0 points
Given him another extended contract

These guys know their shit don't they

My mother in law always wanted a champagne lifestyle on what has always been a beer income. She had expectations above her BT working husband’s salary.

Some on here want the same! We cannot afford champagne, but on the whole I thought what was offered instead was better than expected. There were obvious issues, but not conceding was a massive bonus.

Lack of quality was obvious, but brum were no better.

I think there are about 14 teams who will not be in contention for the top 2, or the bottom 5, but could end up anywhere between 6th and 19th. We are one of those 14, and where we end up is anyone’s guess, and at this time that is all it is a guess.

2 well matched sides cancelled each other out both teams rely on work ethic...thrill an hour football but subs brightened it up a tad ,cannon had fewer touches than the ref

What can we expect when the war chest could apply to be a registered charity
Quote of the season already

cannon had fewer touches than the ref

Bravo

I would rather watch the kids plays under a positive forward thinking manager that sets us to play just like Sunderland did they didn't have the best squad on paper their squad.was one of the youngest and they played with pace and width and had a go.

We. Do. Not. Have. Sunderland's. Budget.

As far as I see it there is a lack of quality in the whole squad, with perhaps a couple of exceptions.
Whether that is down to the owners or CW I don’t know, but no manager can make average players into quality ones.
We can criticise CW on here as much as we like, but the players will not get any better, so why bother criticising ?
All true

but playing Cannon ?

insane and stubborn

Correct. We were a parachute club the season we lost the final and had a squad that cost a lot more than Sunderland’s.

Parachute club or not, Sunderland's owners are considerably richer than ours, and their available budget is considerably higher than ours. That's just how it is. Anyone thinking we could attract a Régis Le Bris is kidding themselves.

Who on earth wants a job where all their best players are sold, and there's no money for replacements?

People moan and snipe at Wilder for being a Blade, but the only reason a manager with his credentials is managing us, is because he's a Blade. With the ownership and budget situation as it is, if we were to get rid of Wilder, we'd be almost guaranteed another Selles - partly because the owners haven't a clue, but mainly because there's only someone like Selles would agree to take on the job under these circumstances. As I said, that's just how it is for us at the moment, and threads like this don't help. 🤷‍♂️

Wilder turned a far worse team than we have now on paper in terms of technical ability into a promotion winning team.

That was Because we didn't focus on other teams we set out to break the opposition down and let them worry about us.

We had a proper work horse team that would die for each other and that were a proper team.

But Wilder made it so be having a positive forward thinking attacking approach.

And he lost it after Villa away innthe premier league season when we blew a 3-0 lead Wilder has never been the same since and completely regressed as a manager it is sad to see him tainting his legacy by setting us up in such a negative fashion.
I don’t think it’s a negative set up, the players aren’t good enough for any system. We have no depth of quality

at least beer allows you to forget normal life for a brief period. Blades make me want to gouge my eyes out.
We can’t afford players fine. I get that. Wilder did Billy big bollocks at the end of last season and what’s happened? We sold our best player and replaced him with hasbeens.
I don’t mind a shit sandwich from the blades just don’t pretend before the season starts it going to be a sirloin steak.

Le bris was actually a fairly unknown quantity before Sunderland. Had one good season and one shit in ligue 1 and was sacked after getting relegated with Lorient. You could argue even selles had a similar pedigree to him (particularly in English football) before joining us. Sunderland also sold Jack Clarke to Ipswich in the summer before 24/25. They have rich owners who have spent in the premier league yes but they didn’t buy promotion.
