I remember seeing them at the Roxy (was it called that then?), and the lead singer referring to the audience as "fucking students".

I saw The Stranglers at the Poly.

-"Are there any students here?"

-Cries and cheers

-"Fuck off you wankers".

Oscar Wilde, eat your heart out.

I did their 21st birthday at the royal Albert ball. Lindsey dawn Mackenzie and her sister having a midnight infront of the blue electric orchestra. Things used to be done differently

Have wednesday got palm trees at middle wood road .

Plastic palm trees, golden elephants.

That's why they refer to themselves as the classy club.

All fur coat and no knickers though, much like Las Vegas all glitz and glamour facade full of down and outs all trying to scrounge a smoke off me, because they put all their money in the slots.
I hope Storchy's batteries run flat and their lights go out.

The women’s team started their pre-season at Dore today. Guessing there will be more photos/videos of the current facilities up there as pre-season goes on…

Yeah I drove past the other day and saw the gates open for the first time in a while.

This wouldn't be entirely out of the question in theory. Site will be worth however many million so it raises immediate cash.

But it would raise concerns. Bigger than a player sale. Because it means that in terms of planning for a future that's on hold to firefight money right now.
And that we would have just lost a prime but of land to have a higher class training facility in a great spot.

Id be surprised and disappointed if this happened.

Haven't the ladies team just moved into the Dore site? seems a bit odd, even for these owners, to move the team in and then kick them back out before the season starts.

It’d be criminal if we sold it (to anyone). Land like that won’t come around again soon.

Bettissss said securing the site was his most proud moment in his role. Says it all.

I've seen some bedwetting on here but this one is well up there with most depressive posts. You've taken a single post from a delusional pig and turned it into the end of days.

Precisely. Unless we think Norton Airfield is going to come back on the market and we can flip Dore to SWFC (2026) for a tidy profit.

Oh no I think you've mistaken what I meant. Or I've made not made myself clear.

I'm meaning it's not completely fantasy is it? If the club needed to raise funds its' an option etc. And we know that the other club are desperately looking for land themselves to get a proper training facility. I think the probability of it is very low.

But I'm not suggesting I think it will happen, at all. I think and hope that it's completely made up too.

Realistically too, it's probably not a big enough site for them anyway. We would use the Dore site just for first team, keeping the shirecliffe site for the academy. You can't fit both on the Dore site. And I reckon they want a big site to have both on there.

A rare event for me, not seen live music for many years. Saw them at Bingley Hall Stafford late 1970s ( I think)
Bingley Hall, wow. Now that was a staple of late 70's/early 80's metal. I saw Rush, Rainbow, Motorhead and Ozzy there. It always stunk of cow shit and, to this day, whenever I smell cow shit, it always takes me back. Combined with the City Hall, the Top Rank (Roxys) and the occasional trip to Retford Porterhouse, what a great time to be growing up and catching live music.
