Kyle walker

He’d have made a squad, we’d all have been crowing that he should have been in the team, he wouldn’t have been. Then we’d moan that he was better than (insert name of multiple trophy winning player from one of the ‘big 6’) and should have played.

Sheffield United players don’t play for England, it’s the rules.
Tyrone Mings got the call up instead despite not standing out in a struggling Villa side.

Too much nostalgia for me. Wages would be a problem
Likely to end up in America for a couple of seasons
Complete overall required. From top to bottom. Don't want to end up like Wednesday. Paying people when they are no longer at the club.

If Wilder is reverting to a back 3 then Walker at RCB & Seriki at RWB sounds good. Just need to sort the LCB position with either McCallum or Burrows at LWB. That would leave Tanganga as CB though....

Does beg the question though where Brooks may fit in, could he become a 10 and float across the front line behind Bamford? Then you think about O'Hare.....

Will be an interesting summer for sure...

Agree that Walker at RCB with Femi at RWB does sound exiting ,, if we were to go 3 at the back , , Kyle could really benefit Seriki ,, regarding the position of Brooks if we change the system , Wilder has mentioned in a couple of recent press conferences how Brooks came through as a more central midfielder before being put on the wing so could be potentially looking to move him back inside

i think if we sign kyle it will be to play centre back whether its in a 3 or a 4 personally think wilder will go back to a back 3 with walker souttar and tanganga as the 3 seriki and mcallum as wing backs in a 343 set up

If we do sign Souttar we will all hope that he is fully over and not hampered by his injuries. But if he does break down again plenty of us would be perfectly justified in pointing fingers at the decision to sign him.

Playing Kyle Walker at centre back in a back four as a deliberate choice rather than as an emergency would be a sackable offence on its own, he could probably be carried in a back three at Championship level with good players around him, but he wouldn't have good players around him so would be a massive waste of limited money.

I'd have no problem him coming back as a player coach under someone experienced as he's currently doing his uefa "B" license.
Personally I'd love to see 3-4-2-1 .

Turf Moor mate, not to impressed with Walker this season. Burnley could well want him off their books financially, all depends on who their next manager is. We all know Wilder and walker both keen for it to happen.

I'd give him a crack and make him captain. He's a blade and similar to Billy, wouldn't stand for our piss weak attitude this season.

He's got pace and strength. Most of our players this season couldn't break through a paper bag.

Championship is a big drop down (as we’ve seen when we’ve been promoted). If he’s struggled this season then that doesn’t mean he’ll struggle in the championship.

There’s plenty of 36-37 year olds who have performed well in our division.

McCall and Cowans for two who were both 38 and Walker has played at a level even higher than they did (almost 100 England caps) and is a better athlete than they were.

I'd bring him back and make him captain. He's one of us and you'd hope that he'd bring a togetherness and a culture back at the club, as it's non-existent currently. Him and Souttar should be the first names through the door.

i think he will come back hes made his money so doubt that will be an issue im convinced wilder is going back to a back 3 with walker at rcb and souttar at cb and think we may sell tanganga and bring a new lcb in although if we do go back to the old system i think mcallum would be ok at lcb with burrows at lwb thats his best position him down the left and seriki down the right is the way to go imo

Looked like he could be barely arsed to carry a bag never mind culture.

Having said that, we all thought Norwood was cooked when we got relegated in 20-21 and we ended up getting another decent couple of seasons out of him.
He's gone from being at serial winners Manchester City to Italian giants AC Milan to one of the worst sides in Premier League history. I imagine that motivation has not been as easy to come by in the last few months.

FWIW: Burnley will finish bottom having lost their final three matches. That will mean they've achieved fewer points in their last three seasons (79, each relegation with fewer points than the last) than Arsenal will get this year alone (75 with three to play).

This is an interesting idea. McCallum is good in the air, fast enough and competent with the ball at his feet. Souttar will be fine as long as he agrees to give up international football. As for Kyle Walker, if he means what he says about playing for the Blades and he wants a two year deal, it’s now or never isn’t it?

I might be blinded by bladey bladeness but I think he could play defensive midfield for us no problem in the champ and be comfortably one of our best players, never mind RB/RCB

If Walker really is keen to make it happen then he knows full well what he needs to do to make it happen. But will he accept an average championship salary? If not then hes not really that keen is he?

I don’t think he’s looking for a big contract tbh.
Just wants to play for his boyhood club.

As you say, we’ll see.

He's already made more money than he can spend so why not? If the club means as much to him as he says (and IMO it does) then he will sign in a heartbeat.
He's been saying for years that he will come back home.

But we could have made exactly the same argument last season but he chose the dosh on offer at Burnley. Hes likely to do the same again this season if the likes of Coventry want him

Spoke to Kyles dad this evening, asked him a few questions..

1. Its in Burnleys hands as he's under contract
2. There has been no talks of him leaving Burnley early
3. Wilder and Kyle have kept in contact for the last few years and speak regularly

Nowt we didn't already know basically.

Last summer he still had ambitions to play in the World Cup which was why he decided to carry on playing in the Premier League. A few months ago he gave up his ambition to play in the World Cup and announced his retirement from International football. Don't think Burnley want to carry on paying wages to Walker if there is no relegation clause in his contract, the club has high debts.

If we do, which i think wilder will be all over it, then I can see it being a loan with option to send back in january or make permanent. This should cover the club on those issues regarding fitness, durability & athleticism loss. You'd imagine Leicester wanting to accept to shift a wage off their bill.

Also those thinking that an ex england international who’s won every domestic cup out there is going to stall Serikis career as opposed to improving it need to give their head a wobble.

Walker will improve Seriki 100%
Yep, I mentioned this few days ago... if seriki cant learn and improve from one of the best modern right backs in game then he should give it up as a bad job.

And do you think we are going to pay Walker those same high wages? The only way he comes to us is if he accepts a home club discount on wages, question is will he do that? And if he did id play him right CB to talk Seriki through games. A defence of McAllum, new dominant CB (Souttar?) Walker and Seriki would be pretty strong at this level.
