I'm usually out and about on Saturdays now (thanks wife), so I often miss most of matches at a minimum when we kick off at 3. That said, I did manage to see Bamford's 2nd goal. We pulled out the old Alan Knill set-piece playbook - we were doing that throw in routine with Baldock and Basham in the PL. It's almost comical that teams are still falling for that one. Great cross by Seriki, and a superb flick by Bamford.

Very happy that we won, even if I couldn't see most of it.

Most managers dont get to take other the club they portray to support then walk away with millions in the bank
I have been one of CW’s critics but I also feel that the issues lie in more than one place.

Change is pointless unless the whole way we are run is changed, otherwise there’s higher risk of us doing a Slav or a Selles all over again. Until that happens it doesn’t matter who we bring in.

In a short time we have gone from premier league contenders to a bang average club, we have become Preston. Next season will be pivotal for the direction of travel. Parachute payments run out, players (some thankfully) will leave.

We need as a club to rethink recruitment, pivot away from topping up the pensions of players on the decline, and be more of an attractive option for younger hungrier players.

Fitness and conditioning definitely needs to change. You expect Sunday league players who are gassing after 60 mins, it’s not acceptable for highly paid professionals, other clubs manage this. Why can’t we?

With all the above in mind, next season is a clean sheet of paper, a chance to see if we can get enough of the old wilder back to turn this around.

We can’t just be about one man, we can’t just blindly follow that one man whatever the results, however the club is run.

We need his best version of him, we need a board who can recognise the changes needed to the structure and have the bollocks to follow it through.

It’s not just about money, it’s about a clearly defined strategy that runs right through the club.
