Can we have a vote on it? A supporters referendum? Someone get Steve & Helmy on the phone.

Just said something similar in shoutbox. Nothing to see here as far as I'm concerned other than fabricating a non-story about needing players who can cover more than one position if you've got a small squad. Not even sure Wilder mentioned Shackleton in the presser. Although somehow our Danny has spun that into an article about Shackleton while ignoring the fact he has played less football for us than Tom Davies.

I can think of one who does the same job as Shackleton but has a pair of functioning legs - Hamza Choudhury. Josh Laurent is out contract, can play anywhere and also has the ability to run.
If Wilder wants a core squad of 23 players then Shackleton needs to come back as the bloody terminator if he's going to be in that core group that plays most weeks. He's never played regularly at any point in his career other than a loan spell at Millwall 4 years ago.
We need to get him off the books and he can have a run around in League One for someone else.
Looks to be the only option in reality, assuming he's somewhat fit by August.I'd look at loaning him out and then releasing him at the end of his contract.
His option or ours ?
Who will take a player who is always injured on loan?I'd look at loaning him out and then releasing him at the end of his contract.
Josh Laurent would be a good shout. Decent midfielder and can cover RB at a push.Just said something similar in shoutbox. Nothing to see here as far as I'm concerned other than fabricating a non-story about needing players who can cover more than one position if you've got a small squad.

Over the course of Wilders decade with us, i can't think of an elite athlete he's recruited. Even the big lumps he's brought in, James Hanson, Leon Clarke, Sanderson Bergen - all had the athelticslism of Stephen Hawking...'Strong tall fit athletic players Chris?'
'What's wrong with slow short arses that can't stay fit?'
Ryan France vibes.Shackleton got to be up there with one of worst signings we’ve ever made.
At least some of the rubbish in the past we’ve signed have actually played matches.
Could be an entirely new thread on its own, that... "What would you swap Jamie Shackleton for and why?"To be fair, he has a year on his contract left so might as well see if we can get some value for him.
I suppose a better question for the forum is "What would you swap Jamie Shackleton for?" as If people are thinking we are "getting rid" of him, the only way would be by some sort of raffle.

That’s all logical, apart from the bit about him actually being fit and available next season. He’s not been the past 2 seasons, so unless we’ve bought him a bionic body he’s going to struggle again. Some really silly comments on here. It is not the same situation as Tom Davies. Shackleton is under contract.
Due to his injuries nobody is going to sign him.
He is our player next season. We can either pay him up (not cost effective as we’d need another player in too so you’re paying two wages for one player), loan him out (and wpuld probably only get a small % of his wages covered), or big him up, get him fit and see if he can be our back up right back, something we don’t have.
Regardless of what happens we are paying his wages for another season, therefore we may as well get him as fit as possible to get some games out of him, especially as money will be tight next season.
Yeah, about that. I have good news and bad newsThat’s all logical, apart from the bit about him actually being fit and available next season. He’s not been the past 2 seasons, so unless we’ve bought him a bionic body he’s going to struggle again.
Disagree. Can coach them to control a ball. Can't coach burrows to not have the physicality of an asthmatics girl guide....Oli Burke.
I'd rather they be able to control the ball myself.

More like this is reality without parachute payments for the first time since summer 2018!!! We may not get happy about it, but the reason why McGuinness, Shackleton etc will still be here next season is that they are under contract. And this guys n gals is why we need to get shut of Wilder
