Removing the sponsor off the Home Shirt. Anyone going to attempt it?

The only thing i'm questioning is why some people seem to think this is anything other than a business transaction. We have advertising space on the shirt, and they've bought it. It's that simple.
As I said earlier, can't it be more than just business?

Being fans of the club probably made it much more appealing.

Being linked with the club as it shoots up the leagues even better!

What? Sufc is the best way for a local car dealer to get exposure?

If you have heard Radio Hallam or the rest of the bilge pumped into the airwaves yes, it possibly is. Assuming you want your brand positioned somewhere above safestyle windows latest BOGOF ad that is.

Just because it's not the worst place doesn't make SUFC sponsorship the best...

Maybe, depends on how much they've forked out.

Highbury_Blade I'm confused with your point now. You were saying previously that it was a pure business transaction, but from a pure business point of view they surely won't be getting the best exposure through the Blades

With respect to SUFC as fans were perhaps not the target audience (as a whole) who'd be buying cars from John Holland Sales. You would think that the exposure gained in other media such as magazines, websites and shows where 'normal' prestige car dealers are placed would be better exposure if it were just a pure business transaction, as you believe.

As I said, I think it's more than just business, they want exposure of a different kind. Supporting their local club, whilst also (hopefully) both parties gaining success along the way gains a more community based level of exposure

Whatever anyone does, don't remove the sponsor,or start another thread up on the matter, you will get lambusted on here.If people want to ask questions, they can ask,its a forum ain't it,then if the sponsors want to answer, or not in some cases then that is upto them, free world and all that.

a) I said it depends on how much they've forked out, and b) they are branching out into regular cars, so i would think that people who go to football games at the lane are the intended target audience.

Around 18,000 a week, then deduct some die hard Wednesday/Rotherham/Donny/Barnsley fans who might now buy their motors elsewhere. They could've reached out to any marketing company, probably paid less and gauged a much wider audience.

John Holland sales need a lot of credit here, not only for sponsoring us, but for also accepting £4000 for my 111,000 mile Toyota Yaris in a part exchange, in a deal I have'nt yet negotiated.

To be fair if you are not busy at 1.14pm on a weekday why not come and have a look at the standard of our cars and compare them with the rare collector's items in your car collection. Please forward your thoughts on what should be our new logo and if it blows our skirt up I'll post on here and pay you handsomely
Hopefully taking you up on the challenge Mr Entwistle !
For the record my beef is with the logo not your fine company - I would have thought a bold strong logo on the front of the shirt so that it is clearly visible to both the crowd and tv camaras from a distance would be the object of the exercise - your current one is too pale and whilst it may 'sparkle' under floodlights most games are played in daylight !
Whilst I understand the difficulties of any logo on front of a striped shirt your current one merges into the shirt rather than stands out emblazoning your name to the viewing public !
Many thanks also for your kind invitation to view your cars - the 1-14pm appointment times threw me somewhat but I am sure there is a valid reason !!
Finally, many many thanks for your fine company's support of the Blades - I am all for promoting your business through your local club and backing them with your hard earned profits - my comments were directed at the effectiveness of your logo and in no way was any sleight on your business intended ! Yeah but the price of your future car just went up £5000 ;)

I think a more pressing concern is how rubbish the "extra" white stripes look on the larger shirts.

Most of the players get away with 5 stripes only (red on the outer edge). On bigger shirts, you start get thin stripes of white at each edge which are wider at the top than at the bottom. Looks a bit bobbins.

Look out for fatties wearing the new kit to see what I mean.

And in case you weren't following our Northampton coverage, the white shorts are extremely see through. Wear for 5 a side at your peril.

As so . . .

:p Is this thread still going?!

In summary:

1. Attempting to remove logo from shirt is a terrible idea

2. Sponsoring team as good as any other method of marketing (cost compensated by personal interest)

3. Sponsors gain exposure from doing so - that's the idea!

4. Sponsor logo could have looked better on the shirt

5. JHS got balls for being a forum user

END

Is there a design idea behind all the different sized missaligned text? ;)

I have a question about this sponsor's logo on the back thing. It seems a bit... big. Can anyone post a photo of the back of a shirt with a name and number on it? How is the space used? It looks like it would end up really crowded with the number ending up very low down.

Certainly, for fear of getting my head smashed in by the forum top table, here is my shirt:

Ask them to make the back of the shirt longer than the front so it will fit on and you won't look like an utter socket. Oh.......

I reckon a soak overnight in battery acid will remove the sponsor logo's .......................... the shirt will disintegrate leaving two perfect plastic logo's in your sink ;)
