Hold my hands up! Obviously not cut out for it even though he says all the right things. Not sure where he goes from here.
Makes me wonder now why he was appointed after wilder when there was so much potential out there 🤔
Because the owners were influenced by Selles guiding Hull to a 3-0 Lane win last season
Frightening but true
Think Selles will go back to coaching or analyst work again
Surely no club will employ him as a manager ever again!

We have had some terrible managers over the years but i honestly cant think of one as hopeless as Selles. Have we ever had a worse? Adkins? Adrian Heath? Mickey Adams? Martin Peters? David Wier (quite similar to RS. Bigged up as great but hopeless.) Answers below please!
People too impressed with managers who “talk well”, step forward Dave Weir.

The thing I read was on Wiki and it was a national poll of supporters responding rather than gates. They won the "Nayim from the half way line" Euro final v Arsenal didn't they, so were decent a while back (a bit like Wednesday fans seeing their team in Europe beating those Luxemburg postmen).

I must admit, I was totally sold on him watching and listening to his first lengthy interview with talk of fast attacking exciting football, so I suppose the owners hearing that in person would also be convinced.

He may have spoke well, but he was fucking useless as a football manager for us.

But as you said a few days back… wilder is the problem 😂

Im not really bothered about how he performed after us.

Im just hoping it was in his contract that if he got another job after he was sacked, that we could stop paying him thus saving us his wage.

It didn't go well with us, but hopefully we no longer have to pay him.

Very small win i know, but a wins a win with how we are going to have to cut back.

Spitballing here, could be down to owners seeing us lose 0-3 to his team and knowing FA about English football?

Factoid, I might be wrong but heard somewhere our owners have ever seen us win

I think it's classed as gardening leave now when managers are sacked and wages stop when a new post is taken.
That must be the case really! Bettis would have been involved so no excuse for us not going down the normal channels.
Wilder came back on his contract from before he was sacked so Sellers must be similar !

Think he was also regarded as an "analytical" Coach which tied in with the Bord/AI direction we were going in....

I thought Martin Peters was our worst until this guy came along!!!! Selles was hopeless….. easily worst in my lifetime & probably our club’s history.

Selles lost every game he managed. Hes unique in that respect in terms of permanent managers, though Cec Coldwell as caretaker in Oct 75 lost all 3 games when he was in charge.

Which gives me an excuse to post caretakers' records. Includes league and cup

Archie Clark Dec 58 to Apr 59
P21 W13 D3 L5
Cec Coldwell
Oct 75
P3 WO DO L3
Cec Coldwell Sep 77 to Jan 78
P20 W9 D5 L6
Billy McEwan Mar to May 86
P9 W3 D3 L3
Danny Bergara Jan 88
P2 W2 DO LO
NIgel Spackman Aug 97
P4 W2 D2 LO
Steve Thompson Mar to May 98
P16 W5 D4 L7
Russell Slade Nov 99
P2 WO D1 L1
John Carver Dec 10
P3 W1 DO L2
Chris Morgan Apr to May 13
P7 W2 D2 L3
Chris Morgan Oct 13
P3 W1 D1 L1
Paul Heckingbottom Mar to May 21
P11 W3 DO L8

McEwan, Spackman and Hecky later got the job permanently, of course.

Clark and Coldwell (2nd time) clearly the best of the bunch. As I understand it, Coldwell was in line for the job permanently as hed taken United from next to the bottom in Sept to the fringes of the promotion race in Jan, losing only 3 out of 17 games. However United then conceded 5 in 3 consecutive games and "Happy" Harry Haslam got the call...

My first thoughts on him becoming our manager have been proven correct, I did get behind him that is until Bristol put 4 past us. He talked a good game but in every other area he was utterly hopeless as another club has found out to their cost, the guy really needs to find a different profession, although he must have made a good living from his failures. I wonder if he can find one more mug owner to give him a job. Total 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩

Same. I was reserved until that shit show vs Bristol City

Saw Ramble on the way out and stated “that was fucking abysmal, that was. He won’t last”

Some of us were saying last summer that it was inexplicable that a team that just missed out on the PL appointed a manager whose best career achievements were avoiding relegation from the 2nd tier on GD and taking another team to mid table in the 3rd tier

We were told that there was seriously mitigating factors. Hull had a crazy chairman, Reading were in a mess etc etc. Well it turns out that if a manager has a mediocre record, its probably because he's a mediocre manager.
All down to him managing a team where the main language is not his first language.

What?

Zaragoza is in Spain and they speak Spanish there?

Oh, Fuck!

Your hate for Wilder clouds your judgement.

To all the Ruben Selles "Haters" who took great delight in quoting he lost his first game at Real Zaragoza, you must all be gutted with him having won a tough, unexpected away game. It would have been half decent if you could have eaten humble pie to quote this. The hatred from many of you towards Ruben Selles just because your sweetheart darling manager had been sacked was appalling, imagine that personal abuse to yourself.
Many well respected people in the football world as well as certain members on this forum stated quite correctly that the amount of games Selles was given to implement his style with his new signings was not enough. This is endorsed by the fact that the likes of Will Still etc/ are still in a job.
What it also confirms is that Bettis used the Ipswich game as the perfect earliest opportunity to tell the owner's to remove Selles, and advise them to get his "BIG BUDDY" back in charge.
Not aged well…

Good for Selles, he’s no doubt walking away with another pay off in his sky-rocket, and succeeded in duping two football clubs in the same season…He obviously interviews well.

Who are now saying it was an abject failure appointing him so I think you might be right.

I'm in two minds as to which has been the most insane thing to happen in Sheffield football this season.
Us appointing " he talks a good talk" (Wilder does not?) Selles.
Or James Bord bidding £48 million for the Pork.

The main issue with Wilder is that his intelligence is not not artificial.
