My mate seems to be posting everywhere that we've signed Jamal Campbell Rice.

Anyone heard ought?

He is a free agent and at 31 is probably looking for a last pay-day....not to sure to be fair, he's always been a pain in the arse when we play against him but is he a better option than Flynn on the right? Him signing though would definitely be the end of Brandy..

I dont think hed be a better option than Flynn but I think we've seen the last of Brandy whatever.

Hope not. And don't see why we would.

Not really done much for a few seasons, and we have better options at the club already.

With Davies and Flynn playing here next season and BRandy to get rid of, I think this is a non starter.

Along with Jamie Ward probably the most arrogant footballer I have ever heard on the radio ,but being a nice guy doesn't bother me if they can play.

I wonder if this move is to allow Cloughy to be more flexible with Murphy. Can't see him being more than a bench filler.

Good luck Jamal

On paper a shocking signing, the sort of player I would expect Micky Adams to sign. I know the other week I said I would be happy to see more black players in the squad , but I meant ones who are actually any good.

Is this the end for Brandy then? However... Last 20 minutes of a game, tired defenders... Those 2 coming on could really cause problems.

As purely a back-up only for Flynn it's not the end of the world; he's caused us problems and knows this league. Who knows, he could be next season's Shipperley-type signing.

ICWT.

I trust Clough, his signings so far have been well considered. We keep banging on about Brandy, what the hell has he done to achieve such status? A Division Three Luton Shelton with no self control, one of the biggest and least convincing divers in football.

I've always liked him. Quick, can dribble, good at getting crosses in and a better passer than many wingers. A decent option to Flynn, offering a bit different qualities. Notts County wanted to keep him. His career choices look strange, always playing for struggling clubs, despite his good ability. He may benefit further from playing in a team that will be high in the table.

Him being 31 takes away some of the excitement, and maybe a two year deal was one more than necessary from our perspective. Let's hope he's got at least another good season in him.

A good signing for me, quick and runs at players. Also with this signing and McNulty we are setting our stall out early and getting signings made.
Also has Mr Clough bought us a duff player yet?

I thought the days of us giving 2yr contracts to the over 30's were over, ffs seems I was wrong. Oh dear !

I was against this initially but now it's sunk in a bit, I don't think it's a terrible option for us, so long as we're not paying him a fortune. Everyone knows my love for Flynn but he is a different type of wide player to JCR. It will never do us any harm to be able to switch it up. JCR is quicker and trickier than Ryan, while Ryan is better defensively. Options. I like it.

Work with a Notts fan here in Derby. He is gutted they have lost him. Said he was awful under Kiwomya (sp) but has been a transformed player since Derry came in, he has worked harder, put more of a shift in and been encouraged to attack and take on his full back. He was a big reason for them staying up.

Sounds very much like what Clough did with Flynny and Murph, so as back up and another option that can interchange up front, this is a decent signing in my book. Better, more experienced and more end product than Brandy.
