Fair enough, but from my view living in the city currently and under Sheffield council, its been nothing but a third rate city. Unattractive, and hard to deal with, look at the state of fargate and other areas of the city centre, not to mention the constant new 1 way systems and bus gates in and around it.

They are well known for trying to force pedestrianisation, making it difficult to access with a car, let alone the price of parking, Ridiculous clean air zones.

Ridiculous wasted money cycle lanes, poor repair works, poor roads, dont forget that massive cock up with container on fargate, under ground bin systems that doesnt work, about 3 years to cobble 400M stretch, driving all business out of the area, no boutique shops on Moor.

That's before we get on to state of rest of Sheffield.

But I see why its 3rd rate then if they have fetched a load of eastern European councillors in - fargate not far off Pripyat.

I don't live there so I know its different but I was there at the weekend and when I got back people asked why I like it so much and I think I have worked it out to be:

1. Its understated
2. people aren't trying to take the piss
3. its friendly (compared to the south and most big cities)
4. People don't take themselves to seriously
5. people there know how to enjoy themselves.

Its not perfect, but no where is. Its not for everyone, but no where is.

Crookes (guessing your end) and Walkley seem decent enough areas to live ill admit. I lived in Hillsborough for 8 years and surprisingly thought it was spot on. Apart from the Pigs it's not a bad area especially with the shops near by etc.

The point is that we've made plenty of signings that haven't worked out- the only difference here is that this particular signing is actively blocking our ability to sign other overseas players who may be able to make an immediate impact on the first team.

That's after a year or two not 7 months (inc 2 months offseason). There has been 5 months of football between him being identified as a hot prospect and deemed not good enough. That isn't good enough.

Fully agree. I’m all for using these slots to take a punt on promising young players- fully aware they’ll more likely than not not make it, but we’ll likely make a huge profit if it pays off.

That said, I do think for that to be a properly viable long term strategy the first team, and overall recruitment, needs to be in a position where we’re not looking to make first team signings with ESC slots.

Yeah Crookes is great. Lived here for 10 in total with a gap in between. Loads of good pubs tucked away which was the initial appeal but good place to bring the kids up too.

You are right about Hillsborough. We looked at a couple of houses round there. Well connected with the tram and a handy with the shops etc. Nice park as well aside from the giant toilet that overlooks it. Sure property prices will go up round there once Chansiri Towers are built.
