Fair enough, but from my view living in the city currently and under Sheffield council, its been nothing but a third rate city. Unattractive, and hard to deal with, look at the state of fargate and other areas of the city centre, not to mention the constant new 1 way systems and bus gates in and around it.

They are well known for trying to force pedestrianisation, making it difficult to access with a car, let alone the price of parking, Ridiculous clean air zones.

Ridiculous wasted money cycle lanes, poor repair works, poor roads, dont forget that massive cock up with container on fargate, under ground bin systems that doesnt work, about 3 years to cobble 400M stretch, driving all business out of the area, no boutique shops on Moor.

That's before we get on to state of rest of Sheffield.

But I see why its 3rd rate then if they have fetched a load of eastern European councillors in - fargate not far off Pripyat.
Every time I visit Sheffield, I think I'd like to live there. Like anyone else, i never go to the city centre (same in most cities, internet has caused irrevocable damage).

Starting to look like Sheffield is becoming a football ghost town. Really worried about these absentee new owners.

These people are like the fucking Judean peoples front every decision seems to take an age

I know they have only just taken over but they don't seem to have anything in place

They've brought these esc players in as I assume commodities to be traded up and now a week into the season they have to get rid of one of them to free up a slot for a defender as we seemingly don't have the resources to bring one in any other way after selling one of the only proven assets we had

The absolute glaciel pace the Korean signing is taking
Lots of talk it's done but sending scouts tonight for a second time only for him to be joined by a multitude of scouts from other clubs who could easily meet his release clause and do a deal in a fraction of the time it's took us

I was right behind the wilder sacking but this new approach seems to be one big learn as you go process from top to bottom with minimal budget and minimal operating experience

GBE is shorthand for - established player, playing at a serious level.
ESC is shorthand for - longshot from next to nowhere who hasn't played much.

A strategy bringing in starters for the First Team, centre backs for eg, as ESC would be v risky.

EdgeLording at its finest.

I think Sheffield is a great place to live personally. Plenty that could be better but that’s the same as anywhere really.

People I know who have come to Sheffield from elsewhere seem to love it whereas “proper Sheffielders” love to moan about it.

A lot of the 'proper Sheffielders' don't even live here now.

A bit like the old East End lags in Spain, moaning about how this country has gone to the dogs.

Thats why us people not from Sheffield love it 🤣

I don't live there so I know its different but I was there at the weekend and when I got back people asked why I like it so much and I think I have worked it out to be:

  1. Its understated
  2. people aren't trying to take the piss
  3. its friendly (compared to the south and most big cities)
  4. People don't take themselves to seriously
  5. people there know how to enjoy themselves.
Its not perfect, but no where is. Its not for everyone, but no where is.

Crookes (guessing your end) and Walkley seem decent enough areas to live ill admit. I lived in Hillsborough for 8 years and surprisingly thought it was spot on. Apart from the Pigs it's not a bad area especially with the shops near by etc.

The hysteria gripping this forum at the moment is insane.

In 16/17 we signed James Wilson, barely played him, moved him on.
In 17/18 we signed Ben Heneghan, never played him, moved him on.
In 18/19 we signed Ricky Holmes, barely played him, moved him on.
In 19/20 we signed Michael Verrips, barely played him, moved him on.
In 20/21 we signed Kacper Lopata, never played him, moved him on.
In 21/22 we signed Joe Starbuck, never played him, moved him on.
In 22/23 the only permanent signing we made was Anel

The point is that we've made plenty of signings that haven't worked out- the only difference here is that this particular signing is actively blocking our ability to sign other overseas players who may be able to make an immediate impact on the first team.

We didn’t pay reportedly close to a
Million quid for them!

If James Bord wants to gamble, let him do it with his own money, not ours!

This really reeks of incompetence and poor planning. I don't mind being ruthless when necessary, but he didn't even get to play a competitive game for us. Makes you wonder what's even the point when there doesn't seem to be a vision behind these signings at all.

That IS the point though. It's not about him being not good enough. Happens all the time. It's about the total lack of planning on our part. Not to mention our wonderful new system identifying development players who, a few months later, are considered not good enough.

But if we’re able to easily offload him to Dunfermline to free up space then surely that’s good planning?

Take a look at how many young development players Brighton release every summer and you'll see what the odds are of finding a future gem. But they can be found.

We have barely got started with our new AI led development recruitment drive. We've only signed four players so far. Let's not chuck in the towel just because one might not have worked out already.

That's after a year or two not 7 months (inc 2 months offseason). There has been 5 months of football between him being identified as a hot prospect and deemed not good enough. That isn't good enough.

Fully agree. I’m all for using these slots to take a punt on promising young players- fully aware they’ll more likely than not not make it, but we’ll likely make a huge profit if it pays off.

That said, I do think for that to be a properly viable long term strategy the first team, and overall recruitment, needs to be in a position where we’re not looking to make first team signings with ESC slots.

Yeah Crookes is great. Lived here for 10 in total with a gap in between. Loads of good pubs tucked away which was the initial appeal but good place to bring the kids up too.

You are right about Hillsborough. We looked at a couple of houses round there. Well connected with the tram and a handy with the shops etc. Nice park as well aside from the giant toilet that overlooks it. Sure property prices will go up round there once Chansiri Towers are built.

The "selling" of Caceres is the same kind of selling deal we did with Archer ????
or has the kid gone because they've realised that AI recruitment is shit and doesn't work 🤔

No, but we did break our transfer record on Luke Freeman, for him to make a grand total of 7 starts in a Blades shirt.
And we broke it again three more times that summer, Callum Robinson (left the next summer), Mousset (proper purple patch and has gone downhill ever since) and Mcburnie.

We need to sell the unproven obscure overseas player to free up one of unproven obscure overseas slots to bring in another unproven obscure overseas player.

No, no, you're totally wrong. It's all a brilliant plan, even though it was only cooked up yesterday.

That's not planning! It's a good resolution of a problem but that's not medium or long term planning.

How do you know that moves to Dunfermline for players deemed not good enough wasn’t discussed from the beginning of the AI plan?

You don’t!
