The Official Bedwetting Thread

Where have there been any promises of players, as the club haven't come out with it, and fans can't make promises about something they're not involved in and have no influence over?

Where are all the threads suggesting that we will be signing loads of players, as I haven't seen any. Most posters have been quite realistic as to what we've got, what we need, what we've signed so far, what we're likely to sign and that there's still nearly a month to go.

There are obviously no 'promises' of new players, but when other posters have said that the squad as it is NOW, is weaker than the one that finished on 92 points, they have been told to stop bedwetting and wait until the end of the window.

You make me my point for me - there are no guarantees of more signings, but yet our RS disciples insist things will be much improved by 31/8, based on no facts at all. If that isn't deluded, I don't know what is.

There are no guarantees that we're not signing else, so equally that in itself is deluded based on your criteria.

I suppose as long as they are experienced, they don't need to be good, right?
Pedantic, you know what I meant. I was wetting the bed its very easy to get carried away
But we do need them urgently
And I smell wee

Anel sold. Cry on here.

We've not signed anyone today. Grab a Kleenex on here.

The owners haven't spent £10mil on one player? Make up shit about them on here.

Still not over Wilder leaving. Keep blurting on about it..... actually, no. You should be over that by now. Stop living in the past like our swine smelling neighbours.
Having followed the Blades since 1960, I have at various times been a clapper and a wetter sometimes clapping so much that I ended up wetting myself.
As the years have gone by, as other posters have alluded to, I have attained a degree of proportion and realised it's no use worrying about things you can't change and anyway there are things in life much more important than football.
Obviously I'm still thrilled and on a high when we win and feel miserable and rotten when we lose.
Although I don't watch any of the soaps on tv, following a football team is similar in that over a period of time the cast and storyline changes but there is no final episode.
In 1960 we finished 4th in division 2, 65 years later we finished one place higher at the same level so maybe it's all been a waste of time but there's been plenty of highs and lows in between and I will never regret being a Blade.
As for soaps, if your a Blade think Coronation Street, if your an Owl think Crossroads.
As for me now I'm happy but there's a bit of moisture there, but that's to be expected at my age

I was referring to starting 11, (Bindon and Burrows) would help if you read the whole post

If we start Saturday with a back four of Burrows, Robinson, Bindon and Seriki, is that really a concern?

Yes, we need better and I’m confident we’ll sign at least a centre back and a right back before the window closes. But for say two or three matches, that back four will be fine against the level of opposition we’re facing.

Nothing to do with me, not heard it, I should be able to do much better (modesty)
BUT the warnings I was issuing 12 months ago are becoming mainstream discussion
The three monkeys may be the only posters on here but the world is not blind deaf and dumb
EVENTS dear boy events.

Seriki has an awful injury record, I'd rather Robinson be used sparingly like he was first half of last season.
I get that between now we will strengthen, it's just been poor planning as we've already used 3 of our loan slots. Had we concentrated on permanent signings at the start of the summer and been more proactive we could have had some loan slots available to react quickly to players like Anel leaving...

No quality signings get made at Championship level prior to the season starting.

Anel was signed by us in july 3 years ago?
You'd have to disagree with that statement by you to be honest, lots of quality business done this summer, look at Knibbs to Charlton for example! Or Kvistgaarden to Norwich? Darling to Norwich?

Souza wanted to leave, so he was sold.

Anel was heading out of contract, looking likely to not sign a new one. We've learned from our Ndiaye/Berge mistakes and sold him while we can.

Moore is nearly 33, doesn't score enough, is slow and immobile, past his prime, doesn't suit our new style and would be third choice behind Campbell and Cannon. We made profit on him.

"Asset stripping"

What a load of old crap!!!!

I'm not watching a second of that video.

This is exactly why I sometimes hate the Internet, for the unbelievable amount of pure drivel posted as if it is fact. Worse yet idiots soak it up and believe it.

The presenters pants seem very dry. Only watch the first few minutes to see him suggesting you have to be stupid to think either term is relevant.

When a ten year old boy has a much better understanding of the terms bankruptcy and asset stripping in relation to United than some of the financial “experts” on here you have to wonder how they get through the day without a carer.

I've learned my lesson on that. I try not to make crass statements about money after you've corrected me a few times.

No quality signings get made at Championship level prior to the season starting.

So Harry Darling, Tommy Doyle, Patrick Agyemang, John Swift and Lewis O'Brien are not 'quality signings' and would not improve our squad then?

The problem is we hoped it was different this time. We hoped that 7 'rich' Americans were going to fund a promotion push. We said they haven't bought us to wallow in the Championship. We said look they've spent 10m on Cannon it proves they are committed to going up. We said its no surprise that we sold Souza and Anel as they wanted to go and we dont want them to leave for free in 12m time when we can get 20m for them now.

All of that makes sense but as it stands we are desperately short in a number of areas. As it stands they have sold assets worth 20m and brought in loaned assets. Its not looking different is it 3 days before the start of the season? Hopefully it will look different by the end of the month.

So Harry Darling, Tommy Doyle, Patrick Agyemang, John Swift and Lewis O'Brien are not 'quality signings' and would not improve our squad then?
Who would they replace in our current strongest starting line up? If they're just signed as squad players then they're a drain on wages.

Harry Darling was signed by Norwich long before Anel was sold. Bindon was likely already lined up by then so Darling would've been a high earner sat on the bench, or Bindon would've been a high earner sat on the bench? What do you then do with RND and Robinson? You can't release RND when he's just signed a new deal and no one will buy him. Could we get him out on loan somewhere? We didn't need Darling at the time.

We've signed Doyle to replace/compete with Peck as a Souza replacement. Again, we've saved a large transfer fee in getting him in on loan. We didn't need to spend the money on Doyle or O'Brien. We certainly wouldn't need both.

John Swift is past his prime and not the same player we were after years ago. Again who would he replace? Hamer? O'Hare or again would he sit on the bench on big wages. He's also 30 so he'd be 31 if we got promoted. He's spent pretty much his whole career in the Championship so he's not likely to take the Premier League by storm now.

As for Agyemang. He cost Derby £5.8mil. Who is he replacing? First choice Campbell? Second choice Cannon? Or does he also sit on the bench wasting wages?

They all may improve our squad but weren't needed for the starting eleven, so they'd all be unnecessary signings, a drain on the wage bill, a loss towards FFP, not to mention taking up valuable spaces in the 25 man squad in the Premier League if we got promoted.

It's easy picking out names and saying we should have signed x, y and z, but the bigger picture is further from that in reality.

Our starting eleven when everyone is available will likely be;

Cooper
Seriki / Bindon / Robinson / Burrows
O'Hare / Soumare / Hamer
Brooks / Campbell / Barry

Who would any of those players replace and which players in the current squad could we realistically sell to free up space for them in the squad?

Nurse, nurse! It's not working. They're still wetting the beds. And they won't stop talking about Oli fucking McBurnie and how many CBs we need. Bring the tranquiliser in that horse syringe! (That's for me, by the way, to get through this interminable window.)

Not sure I've even heard of Patrick Agyemang btw.
He played for Charlotte FC in the MLS and scored 17 goals in 59 games and initially went on loan to a lower level feeder club scoring 10 goals in 12 games.

Obviously our AI recruitment missed him (because it's only set to Bulgaria according to some on here), so we should have signed him because he stood out to the whole footballing world.

Another reason to criticise Selles and the new owners. Same old, same old.

I’m not sticking up for the way we’ve conducted business this summer (the same as the previous seasons) and I thought it might change with new owners, however the 2 mitigations I have for the weakness of the squad relative to the end of the season are:

- We had a lot of loan players last season, it was obvious these would go back and the loan market tends to need to wait until the season is up and running for teams like us to pick up surplus players.

- We did a lot of business after the start of the season last season and the season before, it’s shit but it’s just the ‘norm’ now.

I’d like to see us sign 2 permanent centre backs, a right back and a forward (both can be loans) asap. We shouldn’t be starting the season without these signings but stomping my feet is pointless as it won’t happen.
