The new owners are letting us down!

Whilst I think this thread is definitely premature.

It is really interesting to me those who were more than free with their negativity last season suddenly shutting down anything other than a positive debate about the club. General comment, not exclusive to this thread.

Last season we were dealing with what was actually taking place in front of us. At the moment, and until the end of the transfer window it is, as you say, premature to be commenting as we don’t fully know what our squad will be and what we will be watching. Two different things.

And what do you mean by “shutting down”? What I’m seeing is a debate.

I'm definitely willing to give more benefit of the doubt to the owners and Selles. It's new, lots of unknowns, could be exciting. If it goes tits up, we'll all turn on them and pretend we always knew it'd go wrong.

It's human nature 🤷‍♂️

Dealing with what was taking place being our best ever championship points accrued and almost being promoted? I think that's kind of the point.

We were seeing negativity last season when we were in the top 2 mate, which would also be premature I'm sure you'd agree.

It's not btw that I want us to be negative, at all. I want a united club and I'm personally behind the club and Manager. We've committed now and we're in it for the ride

Just a bit rich some of the comments, as I said, not exclusive to this thread.

Honestly we might aswel have finished a point above relegation it's the same outcome. Burnley probably worked on a lower budget and managed to go up and obviously Sunderland worked on a tiny budget comparing. Officially we managed to be abit better than Luton by not getting relegated but keep on kissing the arse of hamface from what he did 6+ years ago

Proof positive of “when you don’t know, you don’t know”…..

Brilliant point.

By not going up, with 92 points, we might just as well have finished 4th bottom.

Let's hope our new manager sets his sights a bit higher, so that 5th or 6th bottom, would be an obvious improvement.

Did Wilder run over your dog, or is it just a miserable Internet troll thing?

As usual you don’t mention our canine friends you bigot. Dogs seats matter. (Calm down Forest fans)

Sean, as a keen student of grammar, you might want to reexamine the last sentence.

When you say 'dogs seats', do you mean people pestering plastic chairs, or have you actually missed out a possessive apostrophe (cue cries of 'gasp, shame!')?

Are Wednesday the only club who’ve invested heavily in their playing squad in the last 10 years?

Nope, but at the time it looked a decent shout. A collection of experienced championship/PL players, who got them to Wembley.

Maybe if they'd only spent a bit more, like Uncle Mel at Derby, it would have all worked out fine.
Er....

Yes but for every Wednesday, there’s a Forest, Brentford, Brighton, Burnley etc who have seized the opportunity when the time comes.

It won’t take as much next season as I don’t think Soton are as strong as Leeds or Burnley. Automatics are pretty open for someone to have a run at it and I think we’re easily the best placed to do so.

So we just spunk more money then?

Good plan. How much are you lobbing in?

Some people are concerned only with results and if they’re good they are happy. Others also like to win but the manner of how that happens and the style of play are also important to them. Both are valid points of view.

There are also differences in how people want the club to move forwards.

So, whatever is happening at any given point some will be positive and some negative. The only time I can remember that not being the case was 2016-2019.

Its a fair point but what they've done is spend rather than invested by buying players with no return value whilst not developing players with value or investing in commercial infrastructure .
Its a balancing act for most clubs , which money goes in which pot , what's short term ,medium or long term .
Whilst I'd like to know how our owners intend to allocate investment across various revenue streams I doubt we'll be privvy to that detail .
Its not necessarily about what you send its where you spend and what the plan is . Just blowing it on the 1st team squad is hugely risky , it offers the highest return in terms of PL revenue but offers the greatest loss if not realised . Like anything you have to some measured risk but not blow it all on one bet which is the case study at S6.
It'll be interesting how whatever the plans are start to become apparent, and you'll always need a bit of luck .

You've forgotten 'the Wider out'' meltdowns on here, early 2016/17 and then when we lost at home to Millwall Easter 2019. Our resident experts knew he needed replacing.

Asking people to chill their beans and wait until the transfer window closes is 'shutting down debate' is it.

I've already told the wife I suspect her Christmas presents will be shit this year.

That was a footnote in brackets, so obviously doesn't count.

Anyroad, back to your grammatical error.....

Yes, there was a grammatical error. My bad (dog).

However:

What is the definition of a footnote?
A footnote is a short bit of extra information that's printed at the bottom of a book's page. Some footnotes cite the authors and titles of the sources the author consulted while researching and writing. The presence of footnotes usually means you're reading an academic or scholarly work of nonfiction

So, seeing as it’s fiction, it wasn’t at the bottom and there’s nothing academic or scholarly about it, maybe you can withdraw your claim?

I’ve not bought a football club and said we’re targeting getting promotion and establishing ourselves in the top flight.

Are we expecting to deliver the safe standing ourselves? Or if we want better catering, turn up at 12pm with an apron on?

I may have made a rookie error there.

The New Avengers was on ITV 4 the other night and I threw my shoes at the telly. It’s the same thing right?

And since the new porn rules I’ve had to make do with Joanna Lumley…
I wondered what John Stead was up to!

No, we don't have to do anything at all. We just berate any owner for not 'investing' or 'showing ambition'.'.
Once they leave we start again with the new lot.

Rinse, repeat.....

Are you suggesting that the Sage of S2 4SU, is not seen as a scholar of great standing?

Oh Sean, don't be so modest!

I'll just take the dog apostrophe apology, and leave it there then.
