Not sure it can be blamed on Wilder for giving him a long contractIdiotic to give him a long contract. Another masterstroke from Chris 'it's like spending my own money' Wilder.
A player surplus to requirements for for all of said contract so far, even if he were fit. He'd be 3rd choice LB.

What’s that prove?![]()
Long-term deal for Rhys
Wales international Rhys Norrington-Davies has agreed terms on an improved, long-term contract at Bramall Lane.www.sufc.co.uk
who is that smiling next to him?
The manager of our football club gave someone who had a couple of really bad injuries a long term contract. Surely that was bad judgement? What’s that prove?![]()

For what it’s worth there are numerous players who get signed for our club and elsewhere that aren’t the managers pick. The manager of our football club gave someone who had a couple of really bad injuries a long term contract. Surely that was bad judgement?
In our case probably that "one trick pony" BettisFor what it’s worth there are numerous players who get signed for our club and elsewhere that aren’t the managers pick.
Very often the manager will tell the club he wants to buy or keep a player and there are others within the club that do the deals not the manager. A manager standing over a player for a contract signing doesn’t automatically mean the manager signed off on the contract duration or value.

So, what you're saying is, any good decisions made by the club were down to Wilder but any bad decisions made by the club were down to some shadowy figure in the background and nothing to do with Wilder? Right.Oh dear.
Wilder didn’t give him the long contract. Wilder himself was on a very short term contract at the time and RND’s agent approached the club for an improved deal.
There wasn’t a lot of choice at the time and he was on a very low contract. The timing wasn’t great when the players agent requested it.
Not said that at all. Nonsense commentSo, what you're saying is, any good decisions made by the club were down to Wilder but any bad decisions made by the club were down to some shadowy figure in the background and nothing to do with Wilder? Right.
As far as I know, from the time, the agent came directly to the club and the club took the decision. Whilst I am sure Wilder was involved in the decision to keep him for his squad, his remit was just to get the players ready for the season. There was a lot of things happening and it sounded franticI could be wrong, but I do feel like Wilder would have had a lot of say in that decision... and it was a terrible one.
A higher-up (whoever that would be) should have said "absolutely not."
RND had no leverage, so not sure why we extended for such a long duration.
