Two years left on his deal. If he won't renew good decision to move him on. Same with any others in the same situation.

Not unless we sell Rhian Brewster tooThats the boozer fucked then
LEADER. ???His attributes speak for themselves. Great physical presence, leader, unflappable, never shies away, loves a tackle, absolute unit (looks like a man against boys, often), athlete.
Really loved him last season. Was a huge, huge miss when out injured. That spine of Cooper, Anel, Souttar, Blaster and Souza looked so impeccably solid. I felt confident to invite other sides on to us, without any fear that we'd concede.
£13m is nowhere near enough for that IMO. To replace his skillset and presence will require a lot of money.
I’d add his situational awareness and reading of opponents transitional phases was / is remarkable. His attributes speak for themselves. Great physical presence, leader, unflappable, never shies away, loves a tackle, absolute unit (looks like a man against boys, often), athlete.

13 million? They're having a laugh surelyHis attributes speak for themselves. Great physical presence, leader, unflappable, never shies away, loves a tackle, absolute unit (looks like a man against boys, often), athlete.

That’s not leadership.
Jobe is 19. One of the best players, if not the best player, in a team that just got promoted to the top flight. He's also English. There is literally NO Shef Utd or Sunderland fan that could, hand on heart, value Jobe > Vini.
I don't think it's an unfair fee. Think it's about right for a standout championship defensive midfielder mid twenties. And I absolutely love him.
But to suggest Tom Davies is better than him is fucking weird.
Both those things can be true.
Yep. He's a mid twenties South American defensive midfielder. He's 6 foot odd but not overly quick. If we'd got £16m-18m I'd have thought we'd done really well.
As it is, on reflection (& considering his injury record), £13m is probably about par for the course.
Hopefully we've negotiated a sell-on and some add-ons.
Different ages, profiles, nationalities, qualities. It’s not just the Sousa situation assuming what is being said is accurate. It’s under “market” value and by some distance imo.
What price Gus ? 13m ?
Cooper ? 6m ?

Maybe a handful.
£13m is a joke !!!

Vaclav Cerny?
Onwards and upwardsI liked Souza last season.
I did wonder whether Selles would want a midfielder who contributed more going forwards.
Like anything, you have to reserve judgment until the ins and outs are all done.
We don’t even know how Selles wants to line up.
But as sad as it can be when players move on, and Souza did turn his career around, it’s deals like this that ensure we are solvent unlike the way our neighbours have been approaching it.
GLTTL. He seemed a good character.
Jobe is dining out on his brothers name and is massively over rated/priced.Jobe is 19. One of the best players, if not the best player, in a team that just got promoted to the top flight. He's also English.
You seriously think Souza is the better prospect?
I wasn'tJobe is dining out on his brothers name and is massively over rated/priced.
Also you cannot compare the 2. Jobe is an attacking midfielder, Vini is a defensive midfielder.
Jobe didn’t play as an attacking midfielder for Sunderland. I think you’ve confused him with his brother.Jobe is dining out on his brothers name and is massively over rated/priced.

Brilliant thread.
Proof positive a VERY high percentage of our armchair experts know the square root of fuck all about what goes on out there on the grass.
If the fee is anything like that stated, it’s an embarrassment to the negotiating skills of them behind the fancy glass doors.
VS is, or should I say most likely now, was, our Rodri. It’s that simple.
When a team like City miss one player in the way Rodri was missed last year, god only knows what impact this loss could have for us.
Accept that RS doesn’t necessarily use a proper CDM - I don’t know otherwise - maybe he does maybe he doesn’t.
As inevitable as I always expected this to be, it’s a massive hole to fill.
Massive.
