Bellingham, a player that's not played at premier level or set the championship alight.

Just let that sink in....they got TWICE what we're reportedly getting for Vini.
Nothing to “sink in” this .end.
theyre
totally
different

Souza a player that was abject “ At premier level” & (also) “didn’t set the championship alight”
Bellingham made SEVEN times the goal ‘contributions’ .

13M is ridiculous, we are in a position where we don’t need to sell - he has two years of a contract left. He’s worth more than that.

Also, he is a key player on the pitch & in that role - protecting the defence, carrying the ball and breaking opposition attacks - and not worth losing.
I think we do have to sell to make up the shortfall of parachute payments - a drop from £45 m to £30 m. Make no mistake this is a shit or bust season for us.

Always of the opinion of if they want to go then let them leave. I don’t want half hearted players in the squad with the minds elsewhere. He’s replaceable . To be honest he pissed me off the second half of the Play Off final, did a great impression of Lord Lucan. Same with Peck, Hamer, go if you don’t want to be here. They will be plenty that would want move to the Lane.

13 m when we paid 12

All this talk about him being crucial and hard to replace.....

How did we manage to get promoted twice without a player like him in the team?

He's been here 2 seasons, with a combined rating of about 5/10 at best, we were a total embarrassment in one of those seasons and hardly played great in the other. And suddenly he's irreplaceable......

Only just seen this. I think Souza has as big an effect on our team as any other individual. Without him our centre backs come under a lot more pressure in my opinion.
People complaining about his availability yet only 4 of our outfield players started more games than him. Games missing include the Boro defeat, that home game v Plymouth where we looked under huge pressure, second half of the Burnley defeat and most of the Hull 3-0. Granted a few of the games he did play he possibly shouldn't have.
£13m is dogger for us, we won't see a better player of his type until and unless we're in the premier league paying double that fee to sign someone.
Yes he looked poor in a losing team in the level above but we're neither of those things right now are we.
If he's not the type of player Selles needs then fair enough but this is more and more work to do to get to a promotion worthy side. He dominated that area of the pitch and we don't have anyone with that kind of presence at the moment.

I loved the way he dominated the last twenty minutes at Wembley

Selles system seems to suggest he likes box to box midfielders which means there's little room for Souza and Peck, unless he's trying to counter the threat of teams who dominate in the middle. Hamer, O'Hare, Arblaster and Davies are more likely to get more action in the middle of the pitch than Souza. He was great last season but likely to be a bit part player this coming season. The money from his fee will help strengthen other positions where we're short instead of over-stocked.

End of the Premier League season I despised Souza after his lacklustre performances and poor attitude, but he won me over last season. If this is true then good luck to the lad.

If transfermarkt is correct, O'Hare has only started in central midfield (8/LCM role) twice in the league, one being a 0-4 defeat at Rotherham. Not sure he'd be strong enough to play there.

Sold Trusty, Osula, Traore etc but turned down £30m for Souza having paid £12m and him having a below average season, somehow I don’t believe you.
There is no way on Earth that the Prince would have turned down £30mil. No Championship club would turn down that kind of fee as seldom players go for anything close to that in this division.

If he had we’d have been going crazy on here after his performances the season before

They've got him down as playing attacking midfield through the middle on 27 occasions last season, albeit he was a half winger/half central midfielder in Wilder's bizarre team selections.

For me he has the fitness and energy levels to play there as he went forward when we had the ball, and chased the ball and put in tackles when we didn't. He's also one of the few players who keeps the ball and drives with it instead of offloading it like a hot potato as soon as he got it. I personally think box to box central midfielder is made for him and that he will thrive under Selles, same with Davies if we can keep him fit. Selles likes players who retain the ball and use it sensibly, which both O'Hare and Davies do.

So to fire it back Souza was so influential when he was t there we struggled

Good point lets throw the baby out with the bathwater because of 20 minutes shall we
Wasnt just that 20 mins though
Plymouth
Leeds x 2
Burnley x2
23-24 season

Where the feckin hell did this £30million offer come from people keep quoting as a fact, cloud deudimol in S6?
Never happened

The fee of £13m if accurate is disappointing. The ideal replacement would be Jack Rudoni from Coventry but they will be looking for £20m. Souza had his faults not least his injury record last season. Yet when he was fully fit we looked a different team. His height and physical presence was important and will be missed in the centre of the park. All the more reason now to get in 2/3 tall physical centre backs.

It will only be a good sale if we get in a better replacement so all eyes on the owners now. I suspect Souza going is a combination of him wanting to go and his injury record. If we are adopting a policy of moving on those with a poor appearance record then Tom Davies who seems in this thread to have morphed into a 46 game a season midfield dynamo and Brewster should follow Souza quickly out of the door.

Souza was excellent against Leeds.
Our standout player.

Against Burnley, he went off injured at HT (home fixture).
I think he was pretty good at Turf Moor though.

He wasn't always good, but I don't remember many stinkers.
He was just far less effective after the second hamstring injury. When fully fit, he was brilliant.

I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if Coventry attained £15m+ for Rudoni.

Hamer, a much better player, was sold by them for £15m.

Rudoni doesn't play DM, so not sure he'd be a suitable Souza replacement. He'd be an interesting Hamer or O'Hare replacement maybe.
