Personally I think it’s a tricky start for Selles

1st game Bristol City… instant comparisons to Wilders last home game

2nd game Swansea away.. long trip.

3rd game Millwall.. Bogey side at the Lane

4th game Boro away.. always tough, rubbish record there.

5th game Ipswich away title favourites

We play Stoke twice in December. Weird.

In the olden days (somebody will know when) it wasn't unusual for teams to play eachother twice on boxing day, home and away, which is why so many close rivals sing the boxing day song.

"In the Victorian era, “football was played on Christmas day because it was a day off and there was a tradition of public working-class events,” says history professor Martin Johnes. “It was also at times played on Boxing day meaning two games in two days.” For many working people this could be the only chance of the year to catch a game."

Promoted team (at home) versus us or relegated team.

Going to go with

Wrexham vs Leicester.
Didn't they say all the championship fixtures will be televised (even the 3pms) sure i read that somewhere...

Edit: opening day fixtures.

You can guarantee Bristol City and Swansea away will be Tuesday nights in winter.
In future seasons I’ll be making further announcements for fixtures I don’t want on said dates.

Agree…..poor set of early fixtures that…..several matches there that aren’t exactly attractive
Bristol City will be extracted motovated out for revenge after we recently embarrassed them.
And we tend to struggle against the others.

Realistic chance we might be no better than mid table after 5 matches.

i think its pretty decent set of fixtures, derby should be easyish on final day. should be a very quiet boxing day v wrexham. hecky if still in charge returns for the final home game. although disappointed we dont get a home game on 29th

im noticing a few patterns here with the fixtures & it makes me think we must some of these put these things down on the questionnaire that is sent out. or fixture computer prefers it.
  • as im sure Millwall has been our 2nd home game quite a few times, as i think this is the 3rd time in recent years i will miss their visit to bramall lane due to either being on holiday or coming back from it
  • home good friday & away easter monday
  • home on grand national day

i think i did quite well considering i did it pretty blind
i think we will play friday night opening match. maybe at home v derby ❌

we will be away on boxing day ✅ v blackburn ❌

home ❌ on 29th/30th December v stoke ✅

home on 11th april ✅

away on the final day ✅

First game isn't a bad one as City have a new manager and players leaving.

The rest are really not kind!

Manning's new team away
Millwall
Boro away thrashing
Ipswich - Toughest game of the season?
