Yeah the theory is flawed.
In 4 of those 6 seasons, United were the team that had moved leagues. The 2 times we didn't move leagues, we played a team already in our league (Watford and Wolves).

Before that it was:

Swansea (h) (already same league)
Brentford (h) (we had moved league)

For some reason we usually do. Unless we are that side!

Boxing day, be nice if we are at home same for last game of the season.

Reckon we'll be away at Wrexham friday night for the opener. Sky will spend the season fellating them, and would love to big up the "rivalry" we had with them over the cup games.

It's going to be dull again I expect. Preston at home first game, Birmingham away Boxing day, Stoke away last game and inevitably Pigs games will be November and March. If they're still in business obviously.

Nothing standing out this year for me. Eg no Leeds game. Southampton and Wrexham only other games I'd probably be arsed to watch at 2am this season.

It would be nice to be away from home on Boxing Day.

We have had a home fixture in the last 8 seasons when games have been played on Boxing Day (there wasn’t one in 2021), and frankly, it would make a pleasant change to not have to lose a day of the Christmas holiday on the obligation to attend some Championship meanderings. Much prefer to get out for a walk in the Dales with my dog.

Also they do try and keep travel a little lower on Boxing Day - so you wouldn`t normally get Bristol C v Boro for instance.
