Data is nothing new in football , football has always been about data and every single club has always recruited using data for years, but now there is so much more data avaliable in every single aspect of the game, 40 years ago the data used to recruit a striker for instance would be, hes played 100 games in 3 seasons and he's scored 58 goals, he's 23 years old and 6 foot 2, and that's the extent of how it was used now u have assists, xg, headers won, shots on goal, shots from inside the box, outside the box, number of sprints, number of successful dribbles, the list is endless, and then there is the data from fitness tracking etc, so to not use this as a tool for potential signings would be ludicrous and akin to kicking the tyres on an F1 car to see if it had a chance of winning
