Kyle Walker

I'd go for him if we go up, Wilder would want one of his heroes too, depending on taking a big pay cut!. We have to be careful that we don't become a retirement home for ex blades though

I listen to Kyle Walkers podcast a lot with him and Brownie.

It’s very clear they both love the Blades and Walker wants to come back, eventually. He also still wants to continue playing at the top for a couple of years, so I could see him moving to a side in the Champions League first.

As for wanting him back. Anyone saying they wouldn’t want him even for a season would be mad. His experience alone would be huge for the younger players as well as the experience players in the squad. His pace is still incredible and he’s kept himself in fantastic shape.

Money would be the only reason not to try and do a deal, from ourside

On the other side, I wouldn’t want Maguire, too long at Man U and his attitude just seems all wrong for me. No doubt he’s still got some ability, but I just don’t like the cut of his jib anymore

Only if he came on massively reduced wages & let’s be honest he doesn’t need the dough .. as said in the thread potentially a good mentor for Seriki ..but it would have to soon don’t want a Walker at very end of his career if that was the case the money could be better spent elsewhere ⚔️

Competely agree on Walker. He's still being picked for England yet some of our fans don't want him back? Madness.

Completely disagree on Maguire. We looked miles better defensively with Souttar in the team. Maguire is a top-half Premier League version of Souttar and if there was any way of doing a deal we should be all over it. I very much doubt it would happen though, he's got another year on his Manchester contract and they're not going to want to sell to a relegation rival.

It depends on what we are signing him for, if we go up tomorrow and stay in the PL for 1 season (all likelihood) he will be 37 if we got promoted the following year. We probably get a season out of him. Would he come to us if we are in the Championship - not so sure, current rumours are AC Milan are after him, if more than a 2 year deal if that comes true then probably be only in a coaching capacity

I get the impression that Maguire, along with many players at Man U, has just become jaded by the club's effective non-existence in the last 10-15 years since Fergie retired. Every season is just a tedious grind through to May, with very little of note. Multiple times of missing the Champions League, and now missing out on Europe altogether.

There are horrendous, deep rooted issues at Old Trafford, which nobody in a position to change them has even considered addressing, and it results in the players and management being hung out to dry. I think a change of scenery would do him the world of good, and I also think that that could be back with us.

As Champagneblade says. A back 3 with those 2 would be unreal.

well according to tabloid reports he cant keep it in his pants so probably does need the money for divorces/child payments etc etc

The greatest player we've produced, and unless Illy goes and wins the Ballon, the greatest we’ll ever produce. No brainer, new ambitious owners. A lot more feasible than seasons before. Could happen?

Back 5 is dead. Teams committing that many players defensively can't compete on the transitions. Burrows - Maguire - Ahmedhodzic - Walker as a back four with Arblaster, Souza and Peck patrolling in front of them and we might stand a chance.

Just because he is shocking for Man U doesnt mean he wouldnt be an asset for us. I agree there is going to be an exodus at Man U soon. Only problem is money. Maguire still comes to watch the odd game at the Lane. He would just cost too much.

AC Milan don’t want him, Citeh don’t want him…is it time?

Just saying…
I don’t think it’s time for him, but might be for us. Financially it would be a heavy price for us, wages wise.

He’s spoken in his podcast of still wanting to play at the top, he seems to have embraced the lifestyle in his short time in Milan so perhaps playing at another top club in the champions league.

FFS, looking back wards again.

From his comment I interpret his view of this club to be backwards. By his own assessment at his age and earnings he’s too good for us at the moment. When no one wants him cause he’s lost he speed, fitness etc then he’ll come for a cushy ride.

Feck off, not the attitude we need. We want young hungry players with years of improving not declining ahead. Yags proved that.

Would be some move if we could get him, but think it’s unlikely this season
its very unlikely but might just be a move that interests our new american owners i dont think money would be an issue with kyle just a question if he wants to stay in a top european league or go to saudi

I think money would be an issue, as would the dropping down now whilst he considers that he’s still got some time left at the top. But yes, certainly worth exploring

It would be an audacious move to bring him in and would be a real signal of intent.

He’s said many times that he wants to finish his career with us. But yes it would be a backwards move for him now given the level he’s at. The attitude he’d bring would only be a positive for the youngsters in the club

Exactly this.

Tufty's First Ride was built on the back of youngish players who had been discarded from top 6 academies who had had to prove themselves in the lower leagues but obviously had a taster of a PL setup and wanted to prove people wrong (Lundstram, JOC, Norwood, Stevens). Throw some excellent old-pros who had never quite had the opportunity to shine (Basham, Sharp, McGoldrick). Genius squad building.

We never went down the failed/ageing/washed up PL star who wants one last pay day as that was against everything we had built from a culture perspective.

This fascination with former players/ex-lovers is getting embarrassing now. It won't end well.
