No Excuses Not to GO to Wembley

Tonight we'll find out who we'll be playing. We'll then have 9 days to sell the tickets, the ticket office will close on Sunday and probably decide to have a day off in the week as well.
The first day will be to season ticket holders and those with 60,000 + loyalty points
The next day 50,000+ loyalty points holders can buy
The next day 40,000+ loyalty points holders can buy
The next day 30,000+ loyalty points holders can buy
The next day 20,000+ loyalty points holders can buy

At this point about 18,000 tickets will have been sold because half of the people in the above categories will be waiting for friends and family in the lower categories to be able to buy, then over the next two days there'll be a mad rush bringing the total up to about 28,000 (our average attendance) and the only people with a decent number of loyalty points.

Then it will be two days of general sale for all those people who don't exist as far as United are concerned, and they can buy one each and they can go on their own to watch a football team 200 miles away that they don't normally go to watch anyway.

Simple straight forward way of doing this is: Anyone with 100 loyalty points for attending as little as one match in their entire lives can buy tomorrow morning. We are not Man Utd, we don't need to section people off into categories because there are more tickets available than our average attendance.
The actual details have been out since last night. It’s nothing like you’ve described of course but of course you’re either choosing to ignore that or haven’t bothered to find out the actual details.

Do you just enjoy talking bollocks? Why post this when the details have been announced already that sales are open to all season ticket holders at 12pm on Weds.

EDIT: Just seen someone has already put you right on this. Stop being daft

I won't be going.

I prefer that we have visible rows of empty seats in our section as it will give weeks of joy to Wednesday fans in a difficult moment in the even of our actually winning, before some have an epiphany and wonder how such a poorly supported club has been outperforming them for longer than an entire generation.

Plus it denies genuine Sunderland or Coventry fans the chance to go To Wembley which I would consider to be a nice bonus.

I like this sentence United included in the ticket information….

“Ticket sales dates have been carefully planned according to our allocation and the timescale we have to sell tickets.”

In other words…. shut the fuck up you wannabe ticket office managers over on S2 forum, we know what we’re doing 😂

Checked out prices from Lanzarote. Flights hotel match tickets in region of £800!
Then extortionate prices inside Wembley for food and drink.
Probably around a grand for me and mrsdj .It's a no from me.

Definitely gearing myself up for another trip through the Wembley meatgrinder, and I've managed to convince the 8yo to come as well.

Come on Blades, win needed to get him fully onboard the Bladeacoaster after primary school flirtations with various other teams that his mates "support".
I'm sure I saw no one under 12 would be allowed in.
Why for heavens sake I do not know.

Edit. Just checked it's under two not 12.

And this one "Due to the risk of away supporters purchasing in home areas, as per safety restrictions we are unable to do a restriction free general sale."

I would like to know who specifies this "as per safety restrictions" - can't blame SYP this time

I'm amused by this title; specifically the "No Excuses"

I wouldn't call anything an "excuse" to not see United. The implication being that whatever I'm doing otherwise, is better than going to watch the Blades.

Many fans will not be able to go. Some will have made plans for the play off final weekend before this season even began. Some will have during the season, and not given it a second thought. And many, like a few in this thread, are unable to attend for a variety of reasons, all of which are perfectly valid.

Let's not resort to a dick-measuring contest about who is the "biggest Blade". We're all Blades for crying out loud. Doesn't matter if you go once a season, or you lick the statues in the Cherry Street car park on your way to work every day. Let's all (hopefully) enjoy the day, and the game, in our own way. You don't need to be there to be a fan.

Same situation - I have my brother & his wife & kids who are all Blades from afar living in Somerset - who’d love to go - but with no sales history - no chance. I don’t have an answer & I don’t know how other clubs do it ….but u can’t help feeling we are making life really difficult for our ‘casual’ fanbase. I get why season ticket holders & members are important… but I bet that if we had more flexibility we’d easily shift 35000 tickets.

Anyone know what other clubs do to get around this? I really hope that our new owners look at this for next season. Why not invite members or season ticket holders to be able to register ‘associated members’ at the start of each season - so they could potentially become eligible for tickets but effectively making the season existing season ticket Holder responsible? I don’t know - just trying to think of a way to improve the way we sell tickets in the future.

Get a season ticket holder or member to contact the club with all their details and they usually oblige by setting up an account with the requisite points. Names, D.O.B, addresses. The sooner this happens the more chance they'll oblige as Sunderland/Coventry haven't yet sold their allocation. Same advice to dynamoblade

Yeah I get that, but I don’t get the slagging off of the club for having the temerity to impose the smallest of loyalty requirements - ie. Has been to a game in the past 5 years.

They should be using it as an opportunity to grow the fanbase like any other business would. By all means make people sign up for an account or get people to vouch for them. Day 1 season ticket/members. Day two everyone else. Sales are all online so have some sort of process where people can get signed up.

And I've already acknowledged it as well, but I suppose you didn't want to read that.
200 loyalty points is a good place to start when so many tickets are available.

But at least the club have recognised this now. Which means for the years and years some of us have been beating this drum WE WERE CORRECT ALL ALONG

Exactly how many people do you think have not been inside Bramall Lane in the last twenty years that, if able to buy a ticket for Wembley, will suddenly become loyal customers?

What have they changed this time compared to previous?

Which are?
Too hard for casual fans and family members to get tickets with fans who go regularly. Particularly given the cost and the general playoff apathy around the club.
If the 35,000 fly off the shelves happy to accept I'm wrong.

If it's 59 that's 50 worth getting. I lived through the triple assault season where glory hunters or day trippers ( insert your own appellation) went to the glory games and the crowds rose exponentially as a result of both that and the liberal ticket policy we had at the time. Indeed, myself and another six members of my family are all Blades due to similar ticket policies in the past. The club has had many thousands of pounds in revenue from us. Any business that isn't in the business of expanding its customer base is a flawed one. Sheffield United actually does it but it isn't keen on advertising it.

Or as a result of the club not being shit for a short period of time rather than anything you suggest

If less than a third that are eligible two days into sales take up their single ticket, we'll have sold out and taken additional allocation.

How do you propose we "fairly" allow people to bring additional family members easier? and how many do you think would be interested that aren't already eligible? Our 3 and 7 year old are comfortably eligible.

That's ignoring that if we are so guaranteed not to sell out, that more casual supporters are more likely to be able to get a ticket.

Extortionate. I've not missed a play off semi or cup semi since 93. Never had food or drink on any occasion from the venue. In fact the only time I've drunk around Wembley was pigs in 93. Overcrowded and wank. I don't get the obsession with it. Rather drink elsewhere in London then tube straight to game.

After at least 60 years of following United home and away, I’m not going to bend the knee and apologise to any twat who thinks my knees and hips are no excuse for not being there this time. To paraphrase the thoughts of my friend shorehamview , said twat can take a running fuck at a rolling doughnut.

No one needs an excuse, years ago I'd have moved hell or high water to get a ticket and made whatever arrangements I needed to , not just for a Wembley game but for Rochdale.
Now I have my ST which is as much social as anything, fit in a couple if away games a season and have a different relationship with football , and a different perspective.
Even now if I could jump on a train , be there and back in a day I'd still be going .
A 5.30 kick off along with travel restrictions and £70 tickets tells me football no longer cares about supporters, which is fine but works both ways .

I think we will win comfortably and I'll enjoy it from London road with a pint in hand .

For all those going have a fabulous and safe day .

Can't see how a third of season ticket holders and members would equate to 35,000.
I'd change the later general sale to allow season ticket holders to buy an additional ticket.
Some folk are too hung up on a loyalty points scheme that a lot of fans don't engage with. Unnecessary hurdle when there's this many expensive tickets to be sold.
But as said, you might be right and the tickets will sell.

Friday 16th May, 1pm
General Sale to supporters with an accredited Sheffield United previous purchase history and a minimum of 200 loyalty points.

I didn't say I guaranteed they would sell, I asked how the ticket office could realistically, and within the constraints placed on them, allow a fairer, "easier" option.

As posted on Twitter today, we have over 100,000 on the ticket database with more than 200 LP's.
