Will we sell out?

Correct. Most we've ever taken (at least in my time) was about 37k to Burnley on our first trip to the new stadium in 09. Then about 28k to Huddersfield, about 33k to Hull, 32k to City.

We'll not get a practical sell out like Burnley again as it was a novelty at the time and ticket restrictions were less stringent from what I remember.
We ended up with an allocation just shy of 40,000 for the Burnley match after selling out before Burnley and being allocated an extra 1,500 tickets . If memory serves me right we took 27,000 to the old Wembley for the Palace game .

I tried booking on the website tonight and it just wouldn't allow it. Are the ticket office allowed to bend the rules if I give them a call in the morning do you think?
As Foxy says, ring them. Earlier this season my Mrs wanted to go, and only had 100 points, so they put a temporary allowance on the account and you buy them.
They are very helpful and she had a ticket a few minutes after picking up the phone.
Few years back my son wanted to buy tickets that were on restriction for a couple of mates from university. Same situation ticket office sorted it.
Just ring them.

The hull game there was nearly 72 k there and sufc had the larger support work the numbers out

If youre a registered supporter -why not?

Weill I’ve no idea how many are currently registered for one (the people selling the tickets do), but we had a marketing database of 100k+ a decade ago. Obviously not everyone would buy, but it leaves you massively open to chaos and your core support missing out.

Given you can basically get 40k tickets if needed, surely the following would work and mean nobody misses out, whilst not wasting ages trying to sell them and the more casual fans being put off about trying to organise a London trip a few days before. Anyone wanting to hold on for their sisters’ nephews chihuahua to get a ticket doesn’t have to wait more than a day, to buy them one, either.

Day 1 AM - Season ticket holders
Day 1 PM - Members, super draw
Day 2 AM - General sale to those with a customer ID
Day 2 PM - General sale/free for all.

PS I don’t mean 1 AM, I mean morning tranche/afternoon tranche.

Yes, I do see the problem. I’d allocate 2 tickets per ST holder - on sale for 72 hours and then open it up to 1 ticket per actively subscribed supporter. If you haven’t bought a ticket this season it would be a £5 membership/admin fee which would generate a fair premium for the club. If there is some protracted waterfall system people will just give up. Any business has to keep renewing customers and you do that by keeping them engaged. I bet a significant majority of registered supporters are dormant. I’ve tried to get tickets 3 times this season and failed. I only made 3 games at BDTBL last season. I live 250 miles away so simply cannot get to games very often. I’ve supported the club since the 60’s and do get a bit tired of the attitude that you can’t be a supporter unless you go to every game. I’m saddened to think that Monday won’t be a sell out ( I hope it is) and would love to go, but work commitments means its impossible - I’d have to take 1 1/2 days holiday.

5 times less than the massive 😫

Just rang the ticket office for two ST’s one brand new - child - l returning with 60k points but not having one for this season, can’t do it now and there’s the possibility that none will become available. ( no memberships this season) Decision not yet made. Ticket office as helpful as possible so not a dig at them btw.

We must be near selling out the maximum.

This !!!

Don't reyt want to go but you have to dont ya? If we won and I didn't go I'd never forget it.
Exactly, I was thinking of the big one-off games I've been to:
1993 fa cup semi - at least we scored
1997 wembley - no goal, no shots
1998 fa cup semi - no goal
2003 fa cup semi - no goal
2003 Cardiff - no goal
2009 wembley - no goal, barely a shot
2012 wembley - no goal, no shots
2023 fa cup semi - no goal. I think we had one chance in the first minute

The only one I didnt got to was the Hull semi where we scored 3 😂 So I'm 32 years since I last saw us score in a big one-off game, and I can probably count on one hand the number of shots on target in that time.

I don’t think they’ll let us sell out as the Bramall Lane upper tier (not corner) isn’t available to buy.

What is our maximum? Yet you get a fair proportion of this forum saying we don't need to increase capacity. Not selling more ST's would suggest to me that we do.

When I looked earlier, I clicked on various blocks around the ground and it seems there's only a couple of handfuls at most not sold yet in each, so I don't think it'll be far off full. I think the main problem is they're all single seats in random places; I've seen people saying "why do people need to sit together?!"... well, like it or not, football is a social occasion and people want to share that with friends and family

A few thousand in the upper tier not being sold. We’ve only given Bristol 2007 tickets so that’s nearly 1000 down in the bottom tier. Looks like it’ll be around 28000 attendance then.

Don’t worry Blades if we don’t sell out, those empty blocks will be given to the Sunderland hordes…So It won’t look as embarrassing if we’re all wearing red and white stripes.

The problem with giving season ticket holders the opportunity to buy 2 tickets each is that they could buy all the cheaper tickets early and leave other season ticket holders, who are later in the queue being faced with the dilemma of paying £80-£100 a ticket or miss the match.

Being a season ticket holder isn’t just about being guaranteed a ticket for a big match, it’s the priority to buy a ticket at the price you’d like to pay and in an area of the stadium you’d like to sit.

Why should I fork out hundreds of pounds supporting the club all season for someone’s mate who’s not been all season to get a better view that me? Or force me to pay more than I want to for my ticket?

I’ve no problem at all with day trippers going, but they need to wait until the club has looked after those that have earned priority.

we only sold 27k for the huddersfield play off final and pretty sure only 35k for hull

But, had an extra allocation for the Burnley match having sold out the initial 38,600. We sold just shy of 40,000 for the Burnley fixture.

That experience in 2009 has clearly (a) killed the novelty and (b) left deep scars.

I can still picture Mike Dean warming up in our half of the pitch with his linesmen, and laughing for some reason as he came towards the lower tier block we were baking in. 2 hours later, he was turning a blind eye in exactly the same spot as Walker was tripped in the box…

I’m a season ticket holder and wanted 4 tickets alll sat together.

Went down to the ticket office and they said Wembley stadium are handling ticket sales. One of us didn’t have enough points so none of us went.

I’m trying for the same 4 to go to the play-off final and wonder how simple or difficult jt will be to but 4 tickets together.

For this game Man City fans were allowed 4 tickets per customer whereas our tickets went on sale a week later and strictly 1 ticket per ID reference with a points restriction in place, which was later relaxed about 2 days before the game.
Email the club and ask? Be interested to see what they say!

we could possibly sell our allocation with 2 tickets allowed per season ticket holder, with 1 only allowed absolutely no chance, I would have thought the new yank owners would be up for putting no barriers in place to allow customers to purchase their goods

I can't get my head round why people keep repeating this

If 23000 people buy two tickets that's 46000 tickets
so only 18 thousand season ticket holders would be able to go ( with mates ) and 5000 would miss out not to mention everyone else

What sort of a fucked up system is that ?

But they won’t all buy 2, I know season ticket holders that aren’t even going. I reckon if we’re allowed to buy 2, we’ll shift around 35K, restricted to 1 it will be around 25K…
