H-T Bristol 0 Sheffield 1

Bristol City have controlled midfield and looked quite good without creating that much.
My work colleague is a Bristol City season ticket holder and she tells me that her team always look good and generally control midfield
However she says he and her dad are always complaining about their players over playing trying to walk the ball into the net.

If you look at some of the comments from Blades many have said we’ve not settled and BC are having loads of possession.
However maybe this is where Wilder deserves credit. He’s playing 2 up front in Moore and Campbell.

It’s as though Wilder accepts we can’t take on Bristol City in midfield.
So he’s given up trying to control midfield and focussing on defence….then catch them on the break with counter attacks

And to be honest altho we’ve not looked that good….we’ve always looked the team most likely to score and 1-0 up at half time is fair.

Note: Sky have just reviewed the 1st half incidents.
Both agreed it was definitely a pen and definitely a red card. They said Keiffer Moore showed his experience by staying calm and putting his body in front of the ball inviting a challenge.

Also regards Campbells disallowed goal they were a bit 50/50 saying it was almost level but maybe Pecks hip was offside.
They also questioned whether the defender would have cleared it if Peck wasn’t there, so that one was a bit unlucky.

Wasn’t Goodman a striker back in the 1930s or whenever he was relevant?

Surely he’d be on the strikers side of the decision??

Then again, he’s absolutely clueless. He’s a great barometer to be fair, if you think the opposite of what Goodman thinks, you’re in the right! 🤣
I thought he was a car stereo speaker 🔊, Just alot of noise 🙂

You can’t beat Prime TV football coverage. Gives you the option to mute the commentators and just listen to the crowd noise. Brilliant to shut up insufferable aresholes like Shearer, pity it’s not on Sky to shut up the gobshite Don ‘Calabos’ Goodman.

My TV does that on its own for most of our home games, it's called the mute button

Also Peck having his shirt pulled before he moved to offside position , so why not a penalty given before offside, before the goal , shirt pull was first action j think
I also noticed this and asked the question if it was 50/50 if it was a goal or not and watching peck how did he not see the fact his shirt was clearly been held so don't give the goal but give a pen

Well, this should all be over now.

The chalked off goal was a little harsh but you can see why it was. Peck is active and he's blocking off a defender. Harsh but I reckon VAR gives that too.

Definite pen for foul on more. He grabs him but he hardly drags him to the floor. He did try and get round to the ball, but fouled man first. So def pen but red is a bit harsh. It's an orange card really, but those go either way.

Need pen by Burrows. We need to seal this now. 3:0 at least and then that's that.

Otherwise, it's been a bit scrappy but moving the ball forward quickly has caused them problems. We've been the more dangerous side.
Peck was also having arm pulled…it’s a rubbish decision

Great first half.

What do they do now? Down to 10 men do they try and keep it at that so they r still in it for the return leg?

Yeah because it’s such a great look swearing at the fourth official when the decision is 100% correct isn’t it
How is it 100% correct decision. It’s subjective, couple of em at half time thought it could’ve been given. It’s dubious that he’s even offside and the interfering law is very inconsistent. Wilder wants to win, so when a goal gets disallowed 15 seconds after it goes in, he might get angry, and oh no, did he swear?! Oh my god I hope the ref is okay

Definite penalty, yes it was a soft contact but if you give the foul which he had too it’s a deliberate foul against the last man so a straight red.

If lino tells ref Peck was offside then he made the right decision. He deffo made right decision on the red card.

Unlucky with the goal chalked off,no mention of Peck having his shirt pulled.
Defo a Pen and sending off for me,and great pen by Burrows.

How can it be nothing but a red? The laws there's in black and white and he didn't make any sort of a genuine attempt for the ball.
He did make an attempt to win the ball just through our man he actually made contact with the ball so obviously an attempt to win the ball I think reverse that and if he was in a blades shirt we would have been fumming had that been a red card in a big game like this

How can anyone say that it's not a red card?

"DENYING A GOAL OR AN OBVIOUS GOAL-SCORING OPPORTUNITY (DOGSO)

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off."

Dickie fouled Moore by holding and pulling him to the ground. So clearly a penalty and a red card. Its one of the more obvious ones I've seen recently

Long time lurker but I'll just drop this here from the FA 2024/25 Rule book. Sounds like the ref got it right to me.

Didn’t they change the double jeopardy rule when a penalty is also awarded this season?

If the defender is making a genuine attempt to play the ball but accidently fouls the striker then it’s a yellow not a red,

I’ve watched the incident and the foul is in 2 stages.
Initially he’s pulling Moore back….so that’s not playing the ball and would be a red….thats the part he’s been correctly sent off for.
When he makes the tackle….he is trying to win the ball…so that bit would be a yellow.

If we can't get to Wembley from this position we're wank and don't deserve to

Need to aim for 2-0 at least. Would be a great time to score 3 away for the first time

It wouldn't surprise me though if we end up pegged back and drawing 1-1

Goodman obviously seen replay and comments of the more serious pundits who said defo penalty and now Goodman trying to backtrack a bit - twat

We've all done it where we see one view, make a decision, and then see another view and change our mind. I'm not sure which CL semi it was (probably the Inter one) but literally everyone was "fantastic challenge" right up until you saw the angle where he clearly went through the man and didn't get the ball and it's a penalty, myself included

Made me laugh because it would be so United to be cruising in 2nd gear……then concede a late goal….drawing 1-1, which we would have taken before the game.

Better start to the 2nd half, getting the ball down and moving it about
