Woke up this morning feeling confident, haven't paid too much attention to the build up, just reflecting on the league position and trusting that by the end of the season, the table doesn't lie. Felt so comfortable that today I decided to fuck myself. I thought it'd be a good idea to watch a load of YT and Social Media content about the game. Prediction, form, 'analysis', odds. etc. Now I feel sick to my stomach with nerves. Prick.

Am I being stupid, but didn't Bristol look like one of the better teams to come the The Lane this season? Think I need to distract myself for the rest of the day. Brickin' it.

City will start all guns blazing so essential we don't concede in the first 10-15 minutes...weather the storm, grow into the game and take control.

I would like us to go 2 up top but can't see CWAK doing that away from home. He will set up not to lose so I expect something very defensive with the intention of catching them on the break....

Coops

Gilchrist
Holding
Anel
Burrows

Peck
Vini
Choudhury
Hamer

COH

Campbell
Cw always does this in big games
Generally backfires, but at circa 10pm it's only half time

I'm not nervous at all. I'm confident we will beat City over 2 legs and get to Wembley........then i will be nervous!

How do you FK yourself ? (Doing some research for Nick Jansky)

The pressure thing is going to be really interesting, I think. Given the points difference, we should be favourites, but will the fact that we amassed 92pts over the season and still didn’t get automatic work against us? Or will it fire us up to prove to ourselves and others that we deserve promotion?

And conversely, will the fact that Bristol City finished a full 22pts below us (gaining 24 less due to our points deduction) and yet are still in with a shout of joining two teams who gained 100 points, 32 more than them, in the top flight play a part in how they’re feeling? Is it a free hit for them? Or will the figures that show that on paper they’re a poorer side than us affect their confidence?

I suspect the psychological side of things will play a big part in how it pans out, and I only hope that Wilder has what it takes to fire the team up and remind them that promotion should, by rights, be ours.

I’m just hoping that Wilder took the opportunity to build up Holding’s match fitness so he’d be ready to start in the playoffs.

I’ll be really disappointed if Holding doesn’t start tonight.
Me too. The cynic in me assumes that Wilder will stick with his captain though. He's had opportunities to play Holding during the season and not taken them, even though Holding has been fit enough to play.

Id go:

Cooper

Hamza
Anel
Houlding
Burrows

Souza
Peck

Brooks
O'Hare
Hamer

Campbell

Just the starting 11 I was thinking of, go with this and go strong, go 2 up and then

Cooper

Hamza
Anel
Houlding
Burrows

Souza
Peck
somebody else? Give Davies minutes?

Brewster

Cannon
Moore

We need to keep as many as possible not just match fit but match sharp and we need to be able to change shape, not just like-for-like changes.
I’d also give JRS and Seriki minutes in the home leg

Does anyone know if there will be an SUTV match pass for those of us out of the country? All I can see is the £25 pcm pass...I would pay £25 to watch the game tonight but this one seems to renew automatically...

I strangely fancy us tonight just as much as I do Monday. I'm not sure if that's a positive or negative.

That’s what I fear as well, Robinson has been ok this season and he’s captain, so out of loyalty Wilder will stick with him.

Holding has to play because he just looks a class above, surely Wilder must see that as well.

I doubt he sees what we all do mate , I honestly think his stubbornness has cost us points over the season.
But despite what our opinions are we'll all just get behind him and the players for hopefully the next 3 games ( 🙏🙏🙏 we win them all )

It's a free hit for them and that makes them dangerous. Will be watching on a cruise passing Cuba.....so a lose Will be less tough to take. JUST SHOW UP AND PLAY LIKE YOU CAN

Just maybe the City players have clicked on that this isn’t a free hit for them, it’s a game that will potentially double their wages and give the club 117 million quid.

That could work either way, hope it gives them the shits.

Thank you BBC! Can't get it to work at the moment, I'll try when I'm back home ⚔️⚔️⚔️
My experience during the “regular season” was that then £10 individual match pass appears closer to kick off - sometimes has been less than 60 mins mind which makes for a nervous wait. But it has usually happened for me

Some insights
1
Bristol City are winless across their last seven games against Sheffield United in all competitions (D2 L5), since a 3-2 victory at Bramall Lane in the Championship in March 2019.
2
Sheffield United have won five of their last seven away league games against Bristol City (D1 L1), with each of their last three victories coming via a one-goal margin.
3
Bristol City are unbeaten across their last eight home league games (W6 D2), their longest run at Ashton Gate in a single season since a nine-match stint between January and April 2023. In the 2024-25 Championship season, only Leeds United (58), Burnley (51) and Sheffield United (49) accumulated more points on home soil than the Robins (46 – W13 D7 L3).
4
Sheffield United will be competing in the play-offs in the second tier for the sixth time, failing to earn promotion on each of the previous five occasions. In that time, they’ve won just one of their five away semi-final matches (D3 L1), though it did come in their last such match – a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in May 2022, before being eliminated on penalties.
5
Bristol City will be playing in their sixth EFL play-off campaign this season and their first since 2007-08 in the Championship. On that occasion, the Robins reached Wembley but lost 1-0 to Hull City; they’ve never earned promotion via the play-offs on any of the previous five occasions.

Just please keep ours head and don't get in any unnecessary fights or tussles.

I'm looking at you Anel, Gus, Vini, Sydie, JLT & Rhian.
Good point.

If they start niggling at us early we have a few players who will probably bite. Early bookings will be a nightmare for the rest of the match.

Campbell doesn’t usually start 2 games in a row that are close together. I’m guessing it’s fitness. Wouldn’t be surprised if we start with Moore tonight and Campbell at the Lane.

No time for trying players or fiddling, get a results to bring back home UTB

Cooper
Choudhury, Anel, Holding, Burrows
Peck, Souza, Hamer
O'Hare, Campbell, Diaz
