Took a while but inevitable really and some what necessary. A good few bellends were up to no good last weekend and quite frankly I don't want people like this sat near me at the lane they just ruin it for everyone else.

Everyone would think we are hard done by. In all fairness the club look after us without very fairly priced ticketing and stuff and do all they can to promote a family atmosphere and environment yet people do this sort of stuff and bring the clubs name into disrepute and ultimately the club had to pay through way of FA fines.

We have an hardcore fanbase, what harm will losing 0.5% do?

McCabes been doing his best to lose as much of the fan base as he can this past few years, what will a few more hurt. :)

I know I'm repeating myself - but others seem to be too. 25,000 crowd, local(ish) derby...just 7 arrests. There are bound to be a few idiots - bring that many people together anywhere - football, music festival, city centre on a Fri or Sat night - and there will be some trouble.

Talk of banning people for running on the pitch is daft. Most were just kids anyway. To be fair, the only people I've come across calling for such bans are on here. There have been far "worse" pitch invasions up and down the country.

The main lessons to be learned are we need better stewarding during the game and better policing after the game.

The policing after the game was virtually none existent. Before the game on the walk from the car (parked behind Decathlon and walked under the subway past St Mary's) there were plenty of police on the street and in the subway.

After the match (which was quite volatile), on the same route there wasn't one officer until we got to Decathlon.

I was glad I'd decided against bringing my 6 year old step-daughter to what would have been her 3rd game, thought it best as I had a feeling it would be a bit tense.

Crime of the century.

The police are targeting the pitch invaders. The real issue was their poor organisation of matchday operation before and after the game. Smoke and mirrors?

Don't think it is so much to pitch invaders mate, all be it annoying and some of those people on the pitch acting the clown I don't feel these people deserve any criminal action brought against them. The people with the flares however and those throwing punches around outside of the ground in front of young children don't have a place at Bramall Lane and I am sure the club will welcome these people having the book thrown at them.

As discussed on the other thread as well it makes you wonder if they will undertake an internal review as well into why there was little presence where the trouble kicked off outside the away end and as to why the limited police presence there chose not to or failed to intervene quick enough to stop it?.

Stop blades from walking past the away following on Bramall Lane before and after the match problem solved.

The old lads most of them only turn out for the big games are shit scared of getting nicked any sign of coppers they behave.

What happened to those big metal cattle shed things that they were using at the lane a short while back?

I have no idea how policing at Bramall Lane is supposed to work.

The idiot who was taunting the Forest players and had to be told to get off by The Beard simply ran off and looked as though he was ushered back into the crowd by a steward. Away supporters are routinely ejected for any incursion over the hoardings.

After the game and after the fans on the pitch had got bored and left, the police and stewards lined up across the full width of the pitch on the half way line. The police line then walked backwards towards the Bramall Lan end. They may have been expecting another invasion from the empty Kop and didn't want to be taken by surprise, but it was a ridiculously over the top and pointless manoeuvre.

In the meantime, I now read that outside the ground, fights were taking place with no apparent police presence anywhere near, as they were all walking backwards on the pitch. The police do a difficult job, but they don't do themselves any favours sometimes.

How many times are we going to fall for this same old trick. South Yorkshire Police royally fucked up their policing operation after the game. They will have recieved a number of complaints of that I am almost certain from both sets of supporters. So what they'll do is to save face with themselves, they'll announce a probe into the event. Arrest 25/30 or so pitch invaders slap them with 3 year bans. Make it headline news in the star. And the fact that they fucked up just fades away.

If they just closed off Bramall Lane at the south stand exit, and perhaps funnelled fans from the John Street and Kop onto shoreham street, then all this bollocks could be avoided. I exit the kop usually onto John Street, and walk through the churchyard. However, on days like sunday, it might have been better to have sent us all down shoreham street.

Simple isn't it

I've walked up Bramall lane after the game on many occasions on big games (even derby days in the past) without any trouble over the years. I don't see how that needs to be the option.

Regarding Sunday.

Coppers walked up the pitch to clear the idiots. Idiots which will no doubt see us fined. Idiots which should know its a criminal offence to enter the field of play.

I walked along john st and onto Bramall lane on Sunday, there were a hell of a lot of coppers at the end of Bramall lane by the petrol station and towards the st marys round about.

Personally I'd like to see these idiots banned whether they be kids or adults. If forest had won and invaded the pitch, let off smoke bombs you'd all be going mad on here about it

The police and club should find the idiot or idiots who threw the flare into the away end.

It is obvious which part of the stand the flare was thrown from, and lots of fans would have seen the culprits.

The thought that it landed near the poor fellas in the wheel chairs is just terrible. The club should apologise to the NF fans
affected and make it up to them somehow.

On another note, why oh why, did they put the poor wheel chair people next to the home supporters?

Poor thinking and planning over the whole business. Quite shocking.

I hate this sterile family atmosphere they keep trying to create, I want Bramall Lane to be a cauldron of hate towards the away fans, I want them to fear coming here and I want lots more games with atmospheres like the Forest game.

I also think everyone's overreacting about a couple of smoke bombs, theyre just kids toys really. Do they even burn?

Are you for real :confused::confused::confused:

That I dont like sanitized football grounds?

I see a problem throwing things at other fans but other than that I cant see what harm smoke bombs actually do and flares look great, again if theyre not thrown.

I hate all the Tom hark family crap that we've tried to bring in, fuck the family club atmopsphere!

You aren't alone.

Not sure I agree about the flares - but I do agree the atmosphere against Forest was excellent for the most part (several of the players commented on how good it was). And we do need rivalry and a bit of an edge to the atmosphere - that's one of the great things about football.

I think one or two come across as if they would prefer the atmosphere to be more like the curling....where we all politely applaud attempts by the opposition!

Agree with the first paragraph. Disagree with the second.

If I could give you half a like I would.

Must admit, I'm puzzled by much of what I've read on this thread.

I don't think anyone actually wants a sterile atmosphere, there's no useful logic to that. But neither do I want what's been referred to as an atmosphere where hate is generated towards the opposition's fans. By all means let's try and emulate what we had against Forest, the atmosphere was superb, but as for hate? Yes, sing our hearts out, make sure that we have a non-stop, get behind 'em atmosphere, but surely it's possible to achieve this without introducing hate into our support? Or does anyone feel it's necessary to be that mindlessly aggressive?

We've all given stick towards opposing players and fans. I sat in the south stand when a few supporters shouted at Steve Davis the Crewe manager. To his credit, Davis took it in his stride and smiled back. Not everyone responds like that, there again, not everyone responds. The last thing we want is to remove a supporter's right to say how he/she see's things, but hate has the potential for far more than banter or gloating, it could be the very thing that causes trouble. So forgive me if I seem a bit sterile about this, but keep the atmosphere going as we did against Forest by all means, I just don't understand why we need to bring hate into it?

You tried breathing when a smoke bomb goes off around you?

Plenty of fans with chest conditions at matches but tough, eh?

We were in the middle of the kop and the woman behind me had problems breathing. They don't bring anything but trouble and don't improve the atmosphere at all. Leave em at home lads.

what if you live at that end though?? go right round the world??

If you wanted bollocks walk up Bramall Lane past the Forest fans and their old lads will accommodate you.
Now if you just want to go home coming out of the Kop or John St go past the Cricketers up John St and whatever direction you go.
Or coming out of the South Stand or the Kop at the other end go up Hill St and whatever direction you go.
Simple
But if you want a nosey for old times sake and you get roped into the bollocks that's the risk you take
