Maybe managers of lower teams, not necessarily worse managers. I doubt Watford and Middlesbrough are crying out for Wilder back, in fact I doubt there is any other team in this division that would want him in charge, and certainly not anyone in the Premier League. The thing is we aren't making that many good chances Cannon had eleven touches in 70mins. We scored with the first shot of the game on 44mins against bottom of the league. You can't play defensive all the time waiting for one of the better players to produce a bit of magic. I don't think there is a Unitedite in Sheffield who has a clue what team tactics he is playing or trying to play, Pashun only gets you so far, I said it the other week he's been found out by lower Championship managers.
Nobody is denying the first spell was magical, but since the end of that he's done nothing to warrant this job. He would never have got it if he hadn't been Chris Wilder. Football has progressed in recent years, past the let's get pissed and sing about opposition managers bollox.
The tactics, poor substitutions, poor purchases and determination to prove players like Cannon and JLT should play when it's obvious they shouldn't. Soutter only came in when he got injured. He was captain up until then. I also really dislike the necessity to blame others. It wasn't the tactics that were the problem against Hull, it was the players. Seriously?
I don't think the signings in January improved the starting 11, improved the squad and bench certainly, but they're not Premier League players.
I certainly hope the reports that we have agreements to buy BBD and Choudhury at inflated prices aren't correct.
I obviously hope we get promoted, that always has to be the aim, but I do fear even with investment, next year would be horrendous, probably worse than last year and Wilder certainly isn't the manager to alter that outcome. The PL has moved on again. Wolves are 4th bottom with some fantastic players, way better than anything we have or could afford.
