Chris Wilder has been an incredible breath of fresh air for this club since the first and second time he took over

In my opinion he's a better manager than he was a player and he was a bloody good right back, entrusted by Sir Harry himself.
Like us,he bleeds red and white.

Imagine how you'd feel tonight if you were the manager and you'd lost three winnable games on the trot.

At 82 mins or whatever today when he made substitutions you'd expect the players he brought on to be professional enough to see the game out.
The amount of shots and possession we had against Millwall you'd expect us to win.

The manager sends the team out with a plan,if they can't carry it out its not always on the manager no matter how good you are at FIFA or whatever and think it's his fault.
I'm probably not the only one feeling his pain tonight.
If you saw Longhorn, Guthrie,Ludlam who were all on a par with Hammond you'd appreciate the work and love Wilder has put into the club.

My name isn't Wit and i'm not a happy clapper.
I am sad,but not distraught like the entitled few that we're not going up automatically. Wilder has got us in the play offs which is more than I expected at the end of last season
After 53 years of watching the Blades this has been a bloody good season.
I think these are all valid points mate, and I certainly don’t like the slagging off he gets but do think he’s taken us as far as he can.

He’s been backed well and has some good players at his disposal. We should be better than we are. We have enough attacking players to attack and be creative, but we aren’t and we don’t. We have no Plan B and continue to persevere with players we shouldn’t. Each those things are on the manager, and IMO each of those reasons are we we’ve been consistently uninspiring… and ultimately why we are where we are

Problem with Wilder is he takes the GCB song literally and thinks that being a Blade is all about boozing and feyting and hating Wednesday. He's come from the terraces. That's his pedigree. But it doesn't cut it in today's game. The Jim Smith's, Ian Holloway's, Tony Mowbray's are out of date. Tactics, preparation, coaching it's all totally different.

All of these threads about Wilder is absolutely fucking disrespectful, i’m sorry but it is.

You do realise how much of a mess we were in at the end of last season don’t you? Wilder completely changed the team around and to get us where we are at this stage of the season I think to get 85 points (not including the -2) after 42 games is unbelievable with a completely revamped squad. Not to mention we did the double over the pigs. Absolutely every Blade would have snatched my hand off if I said this is where we will be in April at the start of the season.

All of you lot saying you want him out and the names i’ve seen Wilder being called on social media is a absolute joke some of you should be ashamed. He’s literally a club legend in my opinion.

Just because we have lost 3 in a row everyone’s spitting their dummy out, seriously?

If we beat Burnley away and they fuck up again then we can still get in the top 2, and we have the play-offs which I know we have terrible luck on but there’s still a chance.

Let’s get behind Wilder and the lads now, fucking come on guys we don’t need this negativity around Wilder. Please leave the Wilder out conversations until the season is over. Everyone is frustrated but we just need to hang in there.

Im not knocking Chris Wilder . He has proven to be the right tool for the job getting a club the size of United up to the top end of the championship or hopefully 17th in the prem . I think what happened in our first year in the Prem with Chris was extraordinarily good . We had all the luck and nobody took us serious and we finished 9th .
There is a massive gulf now and I see it’s the modern thinkers / young European managers that buck the trend in avoiding an immediate return . I will always be grateful to him for digging us out of the shithole we were in . We need a manager who can bring ideas and tactics that can live with better established managers . I’ve enjoyed this season and won’t be angry on the end but I fear if we do manage it we bang in trouble in my opinion.
( at least let’s try in win something at Wembley and immortalise yourself Mr Wilder)

Apart from a handfull of games this season has been a hard watch and that’s putting it mildly

You talk utter shite

Wilder didn't completely change the team around, he took over half way through and got us relegated without putting up any sort of fight whatsoever

The best players in our team were signed by Hecky

Few points really.

1, is that the mess he ultimately caused by buying absolute dross when in the premier league, Brewster for example?

2, we did the double of the pigs? Sorry.. what’s your point? A few teams have beaten them home and away. Beating a middle of the road championship team means fuck all in reality.

3, get behind the bloke who’s called fans a disgrace for not wanting to back a piss poor performance? The one who’s evidently and quite blatantly setting the team up to do the one goal leads, defend like the world depends on it?

Not having that I’m afraid.

Wilder deserves incredible credit for picking a club off it’s arse from last season and making them competitive. You look at Luton and with the wrong manager that could have been us quite easily. The spirit he’s put back in the team following last season can’t be overlooked.

The argument against him is that we have played well about 4 times this season. All the close games we won earlier in the season are now going the other way. The last 3 games haven’t been much different to what we have seen all season but the opposition are taking their chances and we aren’t taking ours. I don’t believe we have “fallen off a cliff”, I just think performances are catching up with results. Getting in the play-offs is a great achievement from what we all expected last May but from January onwards we have been in the top 3 spenders in the league. I have massive sympathy for Wilder losing Souttar and Blaster but with the money we have spent, and the squad we have, the performances have been poor on the most part and we are now seeing the results reflect the displays.

It’s a tough one. Wilder rebuilt us from a really low position but given the players we have now, the performances have been poor.
The thing is we aren't making that many good chances Cannon had eleven touches in 70mins. We scored with the first shot of the game on 44mins against bottom of the league. You can't play defensive all the time waiting for one of the better players to produce a bit of magic. I don't think there is a Unitedite in Sheffield who has a clue what team tactics he is playing or trying to play, Pashun only gets you so far, I said it the other week he's been found out by lower Championship managers.

I know you’re a young lad and probably still idolise the likes of Wilder, in reality he’s a bit of a tit. If he weren’t a Blade he’d get a lot less rope than he does at present. Having come across him over the years he’s not a nice bloke and is very full of himself. He’s losing the plot a bit (again) when he starts getting criticised.

Set in his ways, opinionated and can’t admit when he’s wrong, a bit like me really!

Yeah anyone who has met him in certain scenarios will know exactly what you are talking about.

Mate, we don't have a Plan fucking A!!!!

Try harder you wum

I know it’s so near yet so far

But can I remind you we are 3rd in the league and are already guaranteed a playoff place

Who wouldn’t have taken that in September
Clap on go to 2 semi final play-off games and chant loud and clear what a great job "Chrissy" has done when the Wembley dream has gone ( but you will save money and the pain of believing the Prem dream...if only)

All fair points but how do explain the fact that it's game 40 and the players still look like it's the first time they've played together? Plus, it's April and we still have players who either can't do 90 mins or look knackered after 70 mins...

As much as people want to say Wilder has got us overachieving, i can't help but think Hecky would be getting more of a tune out of Peck, O'Hare, Hamer, Rak Sakhi and Campbell...

You could argue that he's had to build to 2 teams in 1 season with the injuries but I'm with you overall

I've been mulling over a response to this, and this is my take. Chris Wilder, at his best, is one of the finest managers this club has ever had. He is a Blade in heart and soul, and through him, we have had some of the best times in living memory at this club. I did not want him back, but gave him time and support as a Blade and our manager. I cut him some slack earlier in the season as, a not many really on here have acknowledged (which is a shame, as grief should be recognised), he has had to deal with enormous sadness and personal grief over the loss of George Baldock. It has not been an easy time for him, or for any of the players who knew George. It's clear this means a lot of them and the club. The takeover saga cannot have helped either and his stewardship through that time was exemplary.

Despite the tragedy of the early part of the season, the football has been dire. It has been turgid stuff and although we sit comfortably in third place, there is very little suggestion that we could compete in the Premier League and every suggestion that we would repeat the disastrous last season in the top flight. It sounds awfully entitled as there are 21 other teams who I'm sure would love to swap places with us, but we've not looked good all season and despite the Sheffield bragging rights being won and a couple of glorious victories, his weaknesses as a tactician have been clear to all. The mad purchase of Cannon, the reluctance (balls) to drop the awful Robinson for Holding and today, the disgraceful tunnel fracas only reinforce the need for a clean break and something new. We need a new professional approach and one which will get the best out of this immensely talented squad. Thank you for everything Chris, but it's time for a long-term plan for success and some dynamism to achieve it.

Question Roy... Hecky was doomed once the management of the club decided to sell our best players, Wilder took took over ( once Hecky was sacked unjustifiably IMO) and his results were comparably with Hecky. If Hecky had the same resources given to he would/could have got us into an automatic spot..so I don't accept the Wilder rebulding was down to him he just happened to be in charge at the beginning of the season. January transfer window was totally down to Wilder and given money he fucked up again like he did previously.

Not sure I'm buying that. Souttar and Arblaster aside, we've got the same players available now as on game day one v Preston .

Id argue he's built zero teams. He's put a bunch of talented players together and hoped for the best.

I personally think Hecky would have seen this team to promotion. Obviously we will never know but I agree with your points

Attitudes change so quickly, a couple of weeks ago we beat one of the current best teams with a very good display against Coventry, everyone was upbeat and saying we're on for top two, no criticism of wilder, now?
Yes unbelievably disappointing but let's have some balance, if, yes a big if we win promotion via the plays offs, Wilder will no doubt go down as one of our best ever managers.

Wilder didn't completely change the team around, he took over half way through and got us relegated without putting up any sort of fight whatsoever
I'm glad you gave this an airing because it seems to have been forgotten. We improved a little going forward when he took over but, if anything, we were even worse defensively.

Until i got fed up of saying it due to repetition and just plain old lack of interest, any other board would have sacked him well before the season's end and brought in any one of an army of European coaches who would have at least attempted to save us from the ritual disembowelings and may have made us appear to be a top flight football team instead of a group of lads on tour.

Yes, this season has seen us get good results and compete at the top so that we've forgotten that we're headed for another lengthy repeat of recent humilations, but recent events seem to have taken care of that.

He now has a handful of games to save the season, which if achieved will be fun, but if somehow we go up I'll crawl under a tarpaulin for 9 months because I would fear the worst.

I also think some of the animosity now towards him is the residue of the debacle of his previous exit which is still a cankerous sore that has only just been banged on the door frame.

We need a reset. Apart from the short, failed Jovanovic experiment we've had 10 years of pretty much the same and it's gone stale.
