Kiev at the time had a forward line who were part of the USSR team from the 1970 Mexico world cup. Puzach, Byshovets, Khemelnitsky and Muntyan in midfield. By 1972 keeper Rudakov, defenders Matvienko, Troshkin and midfielder Kolotov were all full USSR internationals. Kolotov and Byshovets were the only Russians the rest were from the Ukraine. No needing a few days rest between games for these guys, the night before they were in Glasgow playing Celtic, I can only imagine the reason for this being maybe they were on a winter break and the UK was quite a bit warmer than the USSR in February.
