Wilder's thinking will be the following

We can't replace Souttar properly. So to compensate for that we need to find the most defensive defensive midfielder we possibly can - and play him WITH Souza. That's Choudhury

To compensate for an impressive level of uncreativity in CM we'll try to add a bit more width - that's where Kenny comes in at RB

Then with Brereton's arrival we can move Hamer to a place he'll be more effective, and aim towards scoring up to 2 goals in a good number of games, with the new 10m striker knocking in around 3 or 4

If the attackers somehow don't manage to provide the required number of goals, then the new CB can step up to the plate and become our main attacking weapon

Another mid season reshuffle, prompted by injuries. Will it work? We're up against a different level of competition this time so I'd say probably not. 'But we'll see, and it'll be interesting to see how it unfolds'...

It might be easier if we had something more like a full team?
Possibly but our main strength was keeping clean sheets meaning we only had to score 1 or two to win the game.
Now we have lost Souttar we are now conceding more we need to score more goals which we are not doing.

Good point, I think it remains to be seen whether we will go 2 defensive midfielders (Souza and Choudhury) or if we might stick with the same 6 (Souza, Choudhury or Peck) and 8 (Davies, Peck, Hamer potentially?) that we've used so often this season.

On ability alone, I think our best available midfield is probably something like either of these:

Souza----------Hamer
----------O'Hare

Souza plays deep in his usual role, Hamer plays alongside him (he dropped into this position in the 2nd half against Swansea) and O'Hare stays in the 10, exactly what we've seen this season but changing Hamer for Peck/Davies.

-----------Souza
Hamer-----------Davies

Again Souza plays deep, but we sacrifice a number 10 (O'Hare) for another box to box 8 (Davies) which would give us more balance but rely on both Davies and Hamer to bring the ball forwards more.

Personally, I don't CW will drop O'Hare, his off the ball pressing (among other things) is key to how we attack teams, I think he does play better with Hamer, simply because he knows his game too well and knows exactly where and when Hamer wants the ball.

It's our forward line that will probably change the most over the rest of the season as we've now got enough options to suit whoever were playing against.

BBD will probably play the most out of our forwards (at LW), Brewster might end up playing more games at RW, whereas Cannon, Campbell and Moore could be changed to suit whoever we're playing against, e.g. Campbell and Cannon for the slower CB's as they can run at them and turn them.
Good thoughts re the MF 3 which is effectively what we have if you include O'Hare as the 10.

But on the "front 3" , with BBD , Cannon & Brewster , would you really put the latter ahead of JRS ?
Or would you expect those 2 to compete for RW and Brooks to cover BBD at LW ?
Sadly , there isn't much call for Gilchrist if we actually manage to get JJK and a first choice CB (unless Seriki can't overcome his fitness problems).

Personally I would start JRS/Brooks over Brewster at RW, what I meant about Brewster was that I think he might end up playing more games as a RW as opposed to a ST, as he seems to have done a mixture of both this season.

I just can't see Brewster (despite his recent form) playing many games a ST for the rest of this season, purely because of Cannon, Campbell and Moore (when the latter comes back).

For Derby I would go something like this.

JRS---Campbell---BBD

RW sub: Brewster
LW sub: Brooks
ST sub: Cannon

Excellent post.

Leeds, Burnley, Middlesbrough, WBA and Sunderland all break fast.
When we get the chance too break we go two steps forward then pass it sideways and then backwards giving the opposition time to get back.
A video came up on my Facebook the other day entitled Farke Ball basically Leeds won the ball played it out wide player sprinted down the wing left the defender for dead low cross into the box goal.
We've had a shortage of enough players with genuine pace in the club for years.

Bloody hell Cannons not lasted long has he.

True, harsh on Cannon to not start him with the price tag and potential, but he has to displace a recently returning Campbell who has found his form again and would have had a goal on Friday if not for a refereeing mistake.

No one works harder or more successfully out of possession than O'Hare.
he was bought for his skills attacking from midfield weve never played him in this position hes either been just behind moore or out wide yes he runs about a lot but we didnt bring him here soley for that role surely

I fully appreciate and accept your point about injuries ,
But I was thinking if all available , what would you think is the best plan ?
Just wondering what CW objective is when recruiting and setting up his best team.
It's a hypothetical question.
But imo , CW is falling between 2 stools in his thinking.
He wants 2 DMs to make us tight.
He wants the Hamer / O'Hare partnership , but he also wants wingers.
He's mainly played 1 striker all season , but even doing that , he's had to shoehorn Hamer onto LW.
Now he's got BBD , Hamer will have to come central or play RW.
So who does he drop - O'Hare or the R winger ?
If he puts O'Hare on RW , it's just the mirror-image of the Hamer/LW problem we've had all season.
Perhaps we could make a special case to the EFL to field 12 players 😂
I expect Hamza will rotate with Vini most of the time but play together some times to give us an option to see games out and give Peck a rest if Davies is out for a while.

souza has a fair shot on him i think if choudray comes in he may play a bit further up the pitch with hamer

Paying full wages then , lets hope it works out !!

Was it Wilder who stated that a medical was taking place over this weekend? I was expecting this one to be announced tomorrow at the latest, but reading the above that a verbal agreement has been done with Choudhury, it sounds as though it may be a few more days away. If this is the case, then who was having a medical this weekend? Unless Romano’s input is a few days out of date.

The leicester fans forum can't believe he's been given contract extensions after the other they can't wait to get him off wage bill championship squad player at best!

3 from 6 in MF (forget Shacks) is ok

Then 3 from Brewster , JRS , Cannon , Moore , Campbell , BBD & Brooks should be ok.

2 from Seriki , JJK & Alfie (if we're not
But where does O'Hare fit in
If you've got BBD , a striker and a RW in front of Hamer ?
That's 5 players for 4 positions.

Medicals are usually the last thing to be done after clubs and player have agreed everything. Imagine having a medical before selling club had agreed owt.? Would imagine today or tomorrow latest

That would be my line up except swap Gilchrist out for Seriki if available or Kenny. The only way I see us being creative enough is playing Hamer in the position you show. I thought O'Hare looked better on the right when we experimented with this.
Imagine playing a striker who doesn't play well as a lone striker as a..... lone striker 🤷‍♂️

I don't think it is a big question, I think the answer is obviously a yes. Hamer will move central.
He's had the opportunity to pick Hamer centrally all season but hasn't. Granted we have BBD now but he could have gone Hamer centrally v Swansea for example but chose Burrows to go with burrows instead in the middle.

Yes because he's not had a genuine option out on the left that he's happy with, now he does.
Diaz will be left, Hamer central and I think he'll go with Rak Saki on the right moving O'Hare to the bench. There's your creativity in front of the holding two, but also now with full backs on both sides who will push on.
