Don’t think Blacker is heading out unless we get two CM’s in which I hope we do. He’s currently much needed cover for us even if asking him to play in holding two would not be playing to his strengths. He’d probably benefit from a loan but we’re very short at CM right now.
I’d be sending him out personally. Wilder seems to have opted for Burrows as a CM cover over a youth product who looked okay against Cardiff.

This not looking intrested seems to be a thing with SOME younger players Saki walks round with a face like a smacked arse, even the same on the training ground ive been told ,on thousands of pounds a week, and can't crack a smile if he had the personality of brewster maybe he would enjoy his job more ,Brooks is the same WTF is wrong with um
Eh?

Problem is at present we’re an injury to Peck away from having no one to play in CM even with Souza back and HC we’d still be lacking a shed load of depth. I’d send him out but unless two CM’s come in I don’t think it will happen.

Peoples perception of his quality seems to rise with every game he doesn't play. I think there's a real player in there, but we've seen virtually nothing of him, really.

And yet, people cast him as the real deal. I hope he is, but he needs a lot more minutes under his belt to say one way or the other.

Inevitably, because of his position, he's another one if those 'if we get silly money, okay' but l wouldn't be shopping him around. Loan, develop, benefit should be the thinking.

They have to go out in the cold an leave the ps5 in the bedroom!

Personally, even attitude aside I never understood the Jebbison hype (from outside the club in fairness). Osula has more potential but was raw and the fee was great business. I'd agree that potentially One could be the best of the lot.

Not being harsh though, at this stage of his career he's as likely to be a Slew or Diego as he is the next Deane...if it's not bullshit you've got to give him the opportunity of going to Liverpool, Juventus or Dortmund for him and his career haven't you? Obviously with a stinking big fee for us too. Surely he'd resent us if we didn't?

So you paint him the picture of why it makes sense to stay and how it would benefit him.
He’s then got a choice to make.

He needs to stay here

We should not be loaning him out

He could be our first choice CF by the end of the season

He's the only aerial threat we've got there other than Moore and who knows how many games Moore will miss
I can't see us playing more than 1 striker if BBD is LW ,
so will he be ahead of Cannon ?

I think CW has sacrificed aerial superiority , which is a bad move in any contest.

I don't quite know why we have Moore as we don’t cross in the air and he never gets on the end of our corners

He'd rather start Burrows there again, so why not?

Billy Blacker and Ryan One are both 18 years old. They are learning their trade at the top of the Championship in a sink-or-swim environment. No idea if this is better for them or if playing from the whistle for 90 minutes in League One is better for their progress. I would think that mentally, it's less pressure in a loan environment, where you can shine and become a young cult hero, like Ollie Arblaster did at Port Vale. We have to trust CW and AK with these issues.

Apart from being young and physically developed, don’t see anything particularly out of the ordinary with One at the moment.

Obviously has potential, but so does any youngster. One could end up leading the line in the Premier League, however statistically non league is more likely.

Big offer comes in, I’d wish him well.

If he stays, need to be loaned out. Get playing, get developing - see how he does. Could be in contention next season?

At the moment he is MILES off the quality needed to be leading the line at the business end of the championship table.

Suspect fans at every club are the same, but there’s always a certain rose tinted, exceptionalist attitude to our youngsters. I’ve read post stating Marsh, Blacker, One, Baptiste could/should all be starting - it’s rose tinted nonsense.

You can tell our fans have never seen us bring a forward through the academy 🤣

They're the most frustrating of the lot, they'll have little impact initially, the growth will be slow, but the most rewarding in the end with a huge payoff if they have high potential.

But no, like with Osula and Jebbo let's get rid to the first bidder cos he's not scored 40 goals in his first 6 starts.

Thick.
Spot on. I’m all for opinions and everyone’s is different so I’d just say your entitled to your opinion and leave it at that but really with some people my real thoughts are your thick as fuck, clueless when it comes to football, and wouldn’t know a good young player if your life depended on it, and footballs not for you. Obviously I’d keep that to myself 😀

It's being young and physically developed that most interests PL clubs.

To lead the line in the PL you need to be a bit of a monster.
Hence the interest in Jebbison, Osula and now Oné.
All of them stand at 6'3 plus and can shift with it.
That can't be coached.
Football can.

Wilder basically said that he's one that'll be going out on loan. Pointless discussing it.

He needs game time.
We're currently stacked at the top of the pitch, but will be at least one down in the summer (Brewster will leave, at least and if BBD is a flop, he'll go back).
He has a long contract with us.
It's 6 months for him to go out, secure a place while learning the stuff he's not going to learn on our bench, then come back and we take a look.

A loan is win/win IMO
'A loan is a win/win IMO'..... except if he goes to Donny/Barrow/MK Dons etc and doesn't do well, doesn't score, sits on the bench etc then the 10-15m everyone is speculating about disappears down the toilet

He'll be 6 months older, will have had experiences that he won't get warming our bench and will still be our player. I'm not suggesting we loan him out to then sell him. I'm of the opinion that we should keep him as a United player and do everything we can to develop him. That means he need to play and learn. And, much like Osula, he can't do that in the U23's and he certainly can't do it while we have a promotion to chase or a PL position to solidify. He needs game time and, given our position, the best way to get that is to go out on loan.

On the other hand, if you're from the school of thought that he's never going to play for us in a meaningful way then yes, we should cash in now before he stinks up L1 and ruins his reputation....

It’d be pretty pointless going to Ipswich. Decent chance we’ll swap places. They’ve a decent youth set up, but it’s hardly on a par with ours, so it doesn’t make sense from a developmental point of view.

If the money’s right though, I am sure it’d happen, but it’d be a bit short-sighted by him.

After losing DCL , Jebbo & Osula , are we going to gamble on keeping One ?
Question of £ for the owners to decide.

“Sheffield United are renowned in England for producing top young players but when it comes to Ryan One, he was one they brought in from afar.” Always nice to hear praise 🙂 UTB

Aye

Whilst accepting that Coatbridge (his place of birth) is a grim place @ the back end of beyond not sure it qualifies as “afar” 🤔

Would be a mistake to let this lad go. Think he's gunna turn out to be pretty decent.

Selling more of our young talent to pay for the likes of Cannon's fee and wages would be a strange decision.
We do need to develop and sell as part of a sensible strategy but we've already got £10m for Osula and given the level of interest in One he is likely to be a better player.
Selling now when he could be worth significantly more in future doesn't make sense.
