The alternative was Burrows in his correct position.
And then we have to move Hamer to a position he's not played in the last two seasons, and then we have to play someone left wing who isn't a left winger.

They seem to have no problems with it
They play on it every other week. There was no passing fluidity from either side possession being lost all the time due to balls bobbling about. Took me back to The Big Match of the 70’s!

If Brooks is LW, who is RW? (He played awful btw and got hooked at HT, but you're still starting him?)

McCallum is a left back and you'd have played him left wing. He's done it a few times this season due to a lack of options but it just shows someone was always going to be playing out of position tonight. It's not because our manger (who has us top of the league) is clueless.

That Campbell played well doesn't mean he was fit to start. Our manager and staff have to actually consider these decisions properly; they understand the injury he had and have received scientific, medical advice on how best to ease him back in. You're just a bloke spouting off on the internet that you know better than the manager, even though you have none of the relevant information. It's embarrassing.
No , what's embarrassing is the first half performance.
Caused by the manager.
He corrected it at HT.
Which proves that the first half was entirely down to him.

He nearly had us dropping 3 points tonight and put the players & fans through unnecessary pain in the first half.

He's lucky the owners don't yet fully understand the game enough to see what an unnecessary bollox he made of the first half.
And lucky that we weren't at least 2 down at HT.
Then lucky that they got the red which RND ought to have had.

Wilder is so stubborn he sticks to inverted wingers when we don't have the players capable of it on the pitch.
Brooks is totally useless on the RW so if he's on the pitch he needs to be LW coz he has no R foot at all.
JRS has a bit of a R foot so can do RW.
Brooks can't perform on RW.

Hamer is a natural CM and Burrows is a natural LB - what is the obsession Wilder has with playing them out of position ?

RND is toast , as proved v Cardiff , so why put him LB instead of Burrows ?

No need to put Burrows in midfield - put Hamer there.
Put anyone you like on LW , Brooks , McCallum.
Brewster is R footed , put him on RW or Seriki who was great playing there.

Play Campbell first half + BBD second half , otherwise why have them on bench ? BBD was raring to go when he came on and yet Wilder put Campbell on before him , so clearly thought Campbell was at least as fit as BBD.

I have no idea what was going through Wilder's mind before the game tonight.
It was as if he'd thought of every way he could fuck up the team.
And it worked.
That first half was the very worst I've seen us play in a long time.

And proved to be completely unnecessary by the second half changes which anyone with any sense would make.

Of course not , but I'd have a word with him about that first half.
You'd want the owner telling the football manager how to manage when we're top of the league? Very Chansiri of you.

We're all Blades, we're all happy tonight. I just hope you come to understand that you don't get modern football. You criticise our manager for doing things that every professional manager is doing.

I doubt I'm the only one tonight.
If you can't see the ludicrous managerial decisions which led to that first half , how else do you explain the second half recovery once he'd reversed them all to what would have been a much better starting lineup ?
Try to think logically.

Another great run from Sereki creates virtually an open net from the penalty spot area.
It’s going towards Brewster for a great chance to get his 2nd but McCallum is sprinting in at the same time for an easy chance.

Must be a goal but he blasts it just over the bar.

That was almost like having a penalty and McCallum got over excited going for power, so he missed the target.

As expected Swansea down to 10 men, so we now look like the home team with Swansea sitting back protecting the draw.
Dunno why Brewster gave way , he was best placed to hit it

With Campbell and BBD - do we need to spunk 13 mill on Cannon? Go big money on a midfielder and centre back and we’re there. No?
As long as we have enough money for a top class CB and midfielder , we should get a goalscorer because Campbell is notoriously susceptible to injury , like Moore , like Brewster.

Lots of things led to that first half, one of them being Swansea playing very well. We could talk about injuries, lucky, variance, players not playing well, but nah. You're just obsessed with slagging off our manager and making it all about that. Given the context at the moment (top of the league), you'd think Sheffield United supporters wouldn't immediately jump to calling the manager clueless, but here we are.

Get ready to be disappointed again, because Burrows will be playing in midfield again on Friday. If it works and we win you'll not say owt, if it doesn't and we lose you'll slag off the manager again.

True it was, but as usual Wilder gets stick when things are not going right. He clearly saw the problems, changed it at HT and we are a different side and winning the game.

You’d think those same people who fall over themselves to have a dig at Wilder would be back on saying fair play to him for changing it and potentially winning us the game. They must have gone to bed.
Manager makes obviously indefensible errors in selection & positioning such that first half is purgatory and team is lucky not to be 2 or 3 nil down.
Then you want him thanked for doing what he should have done in the first place ?
What any fan with sense would have done.
Give your head a wobble.
Have you no thoughts of your own when watching football ?
What was going through your mind in that first half ?
Could you not see what was wrong ?
Do you just accept rubbish out of a misguided sense of loyalty ?

He got out of jail by doing what the so-called "moaners" were screaming for (and a red for Swansea).

You say moaners , I say fans desperate to see the team win.

Infamy infamy , you've really got it infamy
Dunno why you feel our beloved manager can't ever be criticised.

KB, serious question, are you happy with what CW has achieved so far?

We were extremely poor first half. Wilder saw what was wrong and changed it, we won 👍

There is not a manager in the world who doesn’t make mistakes. He realised his mistakes and rectified them. We got 3 amazing points and are sat right on top of the table. You seem to be taking it all very badly.

I gave him a 4/10 on the match ratings system. The players played wank first half and weren't much better in the second, he takes some of the blame for that as manager. His selection didn't work.

Notice how I've criticised him without claiming he's thick as fuck, clueless or a moron. I didn't speak as though I know better than him, or that he could have done loads of blatantly obvious things to easily win. Given I don't have all the information (who is fit, who's trained well, who's feeling ill, who needs a hernia op, how many minutes Campbell can safely play) I restrain myself rather than look like a muppet.

Criticise him all you want, but at the same time have the necessary context in your mind: THIS MANAGER HAS US TOP OF THE LEAGUE, HE'S DOING A BETTER JOB THAN EVERY OTHER MANAGER.

I didn't start this argument - wet flannel did - how can you think I'm taking the win badly ?
It came from the changes I was advocating at HT !
What I'm taking badly is being told not to make criticism when it's deserved.

If the manager had made the right decisions at the start , we wouldn't have suffered that first half.

And they weren't rocket science.

Will we get a midfielder in by Friday ?

Brooks and RND have played their way out of the team. Gilchrist should be worried for his shirt too.

Proved again tonight that Hamer needs to be central. We'll do without him now for a couple but hopefully we get Souza and Davies back. Few signings and a few back and we'll be flying.

Subs came on today and gave us a lift. They looked hungry and it helped the other players still on the pitch. Brewster looked much better with Campbell but Femi provided that spark from put wide what was missing first half.
Seriki should always be in this team, if Gilchrist can show he's a better centre half than Anel or Jacko that should be his only way into the team.
That's not having a go at Gilchrist, it's just that he's a defender. Seriki gave us that same performance on the opening day at Preston so it was sods law he was going to get injured, whenever he's in the team I always think United are actually going to provide a bit of entertainment, he just drives us forward whenever he's playing

Think we got it wrong first half - not sure the thinking of RND in and Burrows in midfield, other than trying to rotate players a bit. Great to see CWAK being proactive and correcting the ship early.

Crackers that we're beyond the bare bones in the middle of the park and shoehorning defenders in there. No wonder it didn't work out.
Hamer is a midfielder.
No shoehorning was necessary.
But it might be Friday night.
Unless we speed up acquiring a MF
