Probably never - difference is, these days twitter is on it from the first sniff of a rumour and it then feels like its dragging on for ages. 15 years ago you'd have just heard we were in talks a few days before on the radio and then they'd sign - you wouldn't have to get stressed by all the crap that would've come before that social media brings and our god forsaken desire to know every miniscule detail
Dead right, and it’s the same for everyone, despite all the “it’s the Blades way” moaners who seem to think this is unique to us.

A few don't want Cannon so when he don't score in a game is he going to get pelters? It is alot of money but he clearly improves us upfront.
Well if a 18 year old forward can get slated after his very first start for us I’d say Cannon will have to start firing very quickly or he will be piled on. And tbf we are buying him at that price to perform and score the goals to get us over the line so he really needs to hit the ground running.

I’ve not seen him play myself but fingers crossed he can get 10 from the last 20 that would give us a really good chance.

United operate best when they buy a striker for 40 nicker and a bag o’volleyballs. This munneh int reyt, too much! We need to be shoppin budget for #thenewdeaneandagana. Remember int 60’s when life were great? None of that spunkin you see nahhh days!

Wonder if the fact traffic isn’t that bad in Sheffield, compared to London. Also, The fact we have some fine real ale pubs and do great pies have swayed Tommy Cannon to sign?

But he said same thing about this week and that we should have players in for Norwich game, unless it was all mind games from him.

This has a whiff of the Jordan Rhodes about it....

Not sure we should be spending £13 million on any player as a Championship club.

Obviously, if he helps us get promoted it will be worth it, but if we don't do up.....

Whiff of Rhodes? Only connection being because some 10 million coward striker misfired at our neighbours means we’re gonna have the same issues?

If we don’t go up… then we have a young proven goal scorer at championship level for another promotion push?

It's a ridiculous of money to spend on one player at this level. You could argue that we might have a lot more money to spend but under FFP I'd say that's unlikely.

It would also mean that we have Moore, Cannon and Campbell on our books for the start of next season. If we're going to spend heavily I would rather it would be on a CB. A position where we only have Anel on the books for the start of next season. we need to sign 4 more.

I am not saying I don't want him, but it's a hell of a lot of money to improve us marginally (if at all) when the bigger need is at the other end of the pitch. His stats are inflated by the fact that he scored 4 in one game and four or five penalties. His underlying stats are actually slightly worse than Moore's.

If we sign him and spend £13m then how much profit did we make in the summer? Must be more than this £13m so for profit and sustainability reasons, we're all good and under budget 👍

(I hope 😂)

On a loan to buy, it would have made sense. But an outright buy for a striker who isn't seen as good enough by his struggling current team for the top flight, it would seem like a huge gamble.

I'm not sure we can read into his recent stats that much, as it's heavily weighted with playing amongst Stoke's finest (no disrespect but they've not had a great season).

Let's see how he goes on among our lot - Mr Campbell hasn't been too shoddy after all, and look where we got him from !

Different types of player but would you rather Piroe (went for 10m) and so far top end Champ is his ability, or Cannon?

Cannon is 5 years younger than Rhodes was when he signed for the Pigs, and although the latter has far more career goals at the moment, he was well past his best by the time they signed him.

I suspect Cannon is viewed as a player with a decent ceiling and whilst this fee is probably a bit more than many on here would value him, I think we need to trust the analysts on this one. And at least it shows the owner's have a bit of cash to throw into it.

Lunacy for a player worth less than half that, stinks of the Brewster deal this.
It doesn't though. As others have mentioned, there's a better resale value with Cannon given his past seasons at this level. I'm not sold entirely on the deal, but I'm far from concerned.
