Exactly. Hamer loses the ball at times as he tries to make things happen, I’m sure he could knock it sideways and backwards and up his completion percentage but that’s not why he’s in the team.

He doesn't lack physicality, but Souttar was a lot stronger, especially in the air.

Whereas Anel is a bit easier to knock off the ball, but he's a lot quicker than Souttar, especially tracking back and stopping counterattacks.

Everywhere else he’s been he’s been pretty much an automatic first pick when fit. Now he isn’t, which probably doesn’t sit well with him. But La Liga is possibly a step above his abilities as a player, as was the PL.

Again, as with BBD I’m not sure that’s proven out.
He got 6 goals in 20 appearances in an incredibly poor side last season and the same return in his first PL season where he certainly looked competent at the level we needed.

Fair. However if we’re looking for a forward to get us the goals we need to immediately improve the team, get us out this league and who is potentially available on loan and is also more likely to be interested then he’s a pretty top choice.

I think realistically, Championship teams probably have two maybe three central strikers, if we’re comparing like for like. But even going along with your skewed figures, there are comfortably 7 or 8 better strikers than KM.

I'm not seeing many (centre forwards) in that list better than Moore. Who has at least two Championship promotions under his belt remember. He's not a bad player at all.

Unbelievable goal at Cardiff recently too.

Edit: It's possible you've named 7 or 8 that are arguably better then Moore, depending on opinions and the jobs required of them in their team. But are there any more? As that was my point.

He's undoubtedly a Championship level striker - and actually a pretty good one.

The facts would suggest that Hamer is really bad at completing long passes (below 40%!). I don't know where to go to find out what his progressive pass completion rate is as Opta (fbref's source) doesn't have that. Hamer's passing is demonstrably and markedly worse than his peers in the United team (and Kevin de Bruyne who was also brought up). He loses the ball one in 5 short passes which for a pro is a poor marker. Even Callum O'Hare - probably the closest comparator in our squad - is up at nearly 90% completion for short passes.



This also shows Arblaster's importance from the base of midfield as he is clearly the best progressive passer we have: most progressive passes per 90, most passes into the final 1/3.

I didn’t say he was a bad player, I said we need better than him if we have aspirations of winning the Championship. I also disagreed that he was ai the top 10% of Championship striker, an opinion I still hold.

If we don’t strengthen our forward line this month we won’t get promoted, in my opinion of course.
