Just seems we are in limp mode currently trying to get these round of fixtures of of the way, hopefully get some important players back after Watford?

And desperately need fresh faces as soon as possible, if we was a car I'd say the yellow engine light would be on currently 😂😂 nothing too serious (just yet).

The best team won. Sunderland could easily have had 5. We looked shattered and are down to whoever is fit enough to start.

We can't handle pace or players running in behind. Robbo was dire but as a group, and the 2 CMs in front of them, we lack pace.

They looked shaky at the back but much of our play seemed to be more hopeful than purposeful.

Cooper - 6 - Hard to criticise for the goals and made a few other routine stops. Came out a couple of times well.
McCallum - 4 - Thought he offered little really and his massive springs seemed to be mistimed today. We got pulled apart down the wings far too easily.
Robbo - 2 - Looked a yard behind all the time. His mistake (no idea what he was actually trying to do) When Anel makes that saving tackle in the second half you can see him huffing and puffing. Fine as cover but not good enough to start against the better attacks.
Anel - 5 - Poor first half. Got completely done for the second and pulled apart. Made a last ditch tackle second half (much better half) and drove forward well.
Gilchrist - 3 - Got pulled all over the place tonight. Kept going but needs a rest. Looked leggy from the off and couldn't deal with their pace.
Peck - 3 - Looked shattered. He dithered for the second goal giving possession away and didn't look sharp all night.
Davies - 6 - The CMs were awol for much of the counters attacks but he kept going and got better. Heavily involved with our attacking second half.
O'Hare - 5 - Tries too much at times but neat and tidy. Put a shift in but struggles to really impact on the play.
Hamer - 5 - Tried an audacious shot from out wide and hit a few others. A lot didn't come off for him tonight.
Brewster - 4 - Badly pulled a chance wide and ran into blind alleys. Put a lot of effort and wasn't the worst player on the pitch.
Moore - 3 - Terrible penalty. Someone else has to take them. He looks tired as well, but he needs to do more. Held it up a few times but sloppy and also not making the runs he needs to make.

Subs:

Brooks - 7 - Looked lively and caused them problems from the off. Had a decent effort but also made a mess of one. Charged back and made a vital tackle as well.
Burrows - 6.5 - He's always a danger both in his willingness to put in and early ball and the quality of delivery.
RND - 4 - Made an error which Brooks made up for but looked unsure and slow to move the ball on.
One - 4 - Didn't really have an impact on the game. It was a bit messy at the end.

We desperately need more fit senior bodies through the door or back from injury. It's like we're flogging horses at the moment and the only plus from tonight is we didn't looked like we picked up any more.

I said at the start of the game I'd have not started Brewster. I'd have used McCallum in front of RND to give us extra cover for the defence. I think starting with Moore, Brewster, Hamer and O'Hare against their attacking speed was a bit mad.

Agreed , only in coz we've no one else - he's a good lad and a great prospect but not ready for top of Championship

How did he manage his earlier very good games then? The fact he is young tends to suggest he will suffer fatigue and loss of at some point.

I've watched the Blades since 1970 and i will say exactly what I want so don't you dare question me, ever, ever! I was there when we lost to Walsall to go down to the Fourth Division were you? Were you?
I was at the Walsall game. You're entitled to your opinion agreed, but you're talking bollocks.

He's also allowed to say what he thinks. Doesn't matter how long anybody has been going. He's got an opinion, you've got another.

Wilder sets up to fucking lose and should start to be questioned by us fans, I have always supported him but any old excuse now! Do we ever attack in numbers or fucking entertain rather than looking like a 4th Division team whos' won a prize to play in the Championship! Fucking hell Wilder that was Shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He doesn't know how too that much is obvious because every big game we have had he sets us up to stifle the opposition.

It is poor to watch it is so predictable though and that is what is so Infuriating and what really gets to the fans.

I don't enjoy watching us when I see that we set up with a defensive minded set up because we know we will go sideways and backwards for the majority of the game and do absolutely nothing with it.

There was a stat at one point half way through the second half we had 79% possession yet did absolutely nothing with it.

Yet they had 21% and caused us far more problems because when they got on the ball they went direct and ran at the goal.

Sunderland get Watson Isidor Mayenda etc every game running at pace causing all sorts of problems.

We have Rak Sakyi but Wilder is far too defensive to ever be brave enough to start Rak Sakyi and Brooks and take the game to the opposition.

I can take losing if we have a go but sick and tired of us setting up with defensive minded teams and it setting the tone.

Once again so simple, a ball into a striker they run and in, we’ve won the ball in similar positions tonight and played backwards, we have nothing to stretch games. Far too slow. Sunderland have been wank, played far better at Bramall lane.
Some of the advanced positions from which we (especially Gilchrist) pass backwards is bizarre
When a quick through ball or cross would create danger

This seemingly majority opinion that the manager can't be questioned whatsoever is definitely a great idea
‘questioned’

A
“If Wilders comments are anything like the ones after the last 2 games I would very much hope he doesn't see employment by the morning of the 3rd”

B
“Moore is looking tired. Maybe if Wilder plays him one game in three, and gives Marsh a chance, we might see a few more performances likes Moore’s two quality goals the other week.”

Questioning the manager isn’t the same as saying you really hope he gets sacked tomorrow.

(By the way I think Wilder’s answer to ‘B’ might be “Sometimes a young player takes to 1st team football straight away like Oli. Other times they look superb for the under 21s then really feel the pressure and run around looking lost in first team games (like Brewster) which can set them back a long way in their development; I don’t think Marsh is really ready.”)

Much improved second half and we deserved a point in my humble opinion.
I think Wilder hit the nail on the head post match when he said we needed to cross it more when we have the opportunity.
That said, for his height, Moore doesn’t seem to dominate in the air and often gets bettered.
We are a side that looks very tired, need a Souttar replacement desperately as Robbo is not the answer long term.

All in all, we have played worse and won so probably due one of those.

We played perfectly into their game-plan, they wanted us to have the ball so they could break on us and that’s what happened. Apart from a bit of magic from someone we wouldn’t have scored again if we’d played until tomorrow evening.

We desperately need a replacement for Souttar and for the injury list to reduce quickly. Then we need to sign the players in the positions that Wilder wanted in the summer. JLT and Moore need to shape up or ship out!

yeah the performances are there but the points arent. we deserve far more than the 1pt weve got from the last 3. but that's football. nobody expected us with that team to go to Sunderland & be the better team. not sure how we didnt get that equaliser in the 2nd half. it will be very annoying that we have been our own worst enemy. dreadful penalty, that would change the game & then gifted them 2 howlers

Gus Hamer was magnificent again. if he isnt player of the year come may. ill be shocked

showed 2nd half tonight why we need hamer in central midfield totally wasted wide left if brereton comes he will stay there yet again stupid individual errors have cost us the game add to that the fact weve nowt in the final 3rd and havent had from day 1 of the season

It was a very tight game and there were of course some defining moments:

First Half - Sheffield United started off the better of the 2 teams but we were always dangerous on the break - Isidor and Mayenda have loads of pace and for once the latter didnt run around like a headless chicken. O'Nein was horrendous for us and there we go with another game defining penalty missed, this time by your lads. Chris Wilder must have been tearing his hair out at your defending, almost gifting us 2 goals.

Second half - and SAFC, either through choice (we have done this before - did it against Leeds as well and one or two others) or through SU endeavours basically decided that it was backs to the wall for 45 minutes. Its fine in that it allows us to play on the break much easier as your players are so far forward - but lets get real you could and should have scored one - the last 10 minutes or so was horrendous being an SAFC fan. However we basically sold our granny second half to get the points, doing everything we could to not concede; which at times is what its all about.

Its always disappointing when you lose, especially when you are one of the divisions top clubs and just maybe you are having a bit of a bad run - which lets be honest everyone has during the season.

For Sunderland we did here what we couldn't do against lesser sides and the results today have gone for us. However we play Portsmouth at home on Saturday and that looks like a complete banana skin. We havent been able to make any headway on the top 3 since we dropped out of it but are right on the verge of doing so - but dont think that somehow we wont fluff our lines. I still think that if we do end up in the top 6 it will be the play offs.

Its a great win for SAFC but lets be honest there was a wafer between the 2 teams and SU could just as easy be coming away with 3 points never mind 1. Id; be disappointed like we were at BL to come away with nothing after that.

True, terrible penalty, no confidence at all - that and two defensive mistakes. I agree. Very frustrating watch.

I don't think Wilder really has a cohesive idea of how to attack or if he does it's not getting through to the players
We look so slow and "lost" in the opposition half , especially Moore who just pootles around like an old car out on a Sunday afternoon

Your attacking is far more exciting to watch than ours

I'll take a step back here and tell you that this is one of the best games Mayenda has played for us. His missed a carbon copy chance away at Blackburn on Boxing Day and got massive stick for it, so the pressure was on for him to deliver.

Wilson Isodor on his day is a class act and has scored some class goals for us. I'm sure we will buy him off Zenit - which is an option.

We have loads of wingers - Aouchiche is our 4rth choice winger - after selling Clarke, and injuries to Mundle and Watson.

Just as Sheffield United have been top 3 all season for a reason, we are 4rth for a reason - but at 63 years of age - I'm always looking for this to go tits up.

Today was a good day - tomorrow may not be quite so good - but yes and thanks for saying so, we looked good going forward tonight but I'd ask the question of maybe SU should have been a bit cuter in not piling forward so much - which played into our hands a bit and allowed us to break on you at will. Difficult not to pile forward of course if the opposition eggs you on to do it.

Moore sticks out like a sore thumb at times. You have players like Hamer and O'Hare combining and everything comes to a screeching halt once the ball gets near Moore.
That's if he ever gets near it.
Why we gave a slow 32 yr old a 3 year contract I'll never know.
Look at the pace & power of their attackers tonight.
Moore is 6'5" but never threatens the goal with his nut.
And can you imagine him ever scoring something like their second ?
