What do you see in Sunderland that you think they put 3 past us? We’ve got a Sunderland fan here saying they have injuries to two of their stand out players, just as we have, and that he thinks it will be a draw..
He never posts anything positive ever
There are at least two dozen of them just like him
Wouldn't be surprised if they are all the same 14 Yr old grunter In his room socks round ankles

Leeds got lucky there - soft pen ref desperate to give + added 10 mins at the end when 5 more realistic. A great opportunity for us to make this Xmas broadly neutral

You could almost see Langford visibly deflate when Blackburn popped in that equaliser 😂

Good results for us today. Strong performance tonight and we can get back into second place.

Last post until after the game but there is no chance of us/Sunderland putting 3 past you

I’m not massively confident and I have no problem sticking with a draw

The number of injuries means that our manager isn’t really confident with our subs which means we concede late on as our players are knackered

Don’t be surprised if there is a late goal in this one. I don’t want to be overly negative about my own side but if anyone is going to win I would say it’s SU

The third result will be an Safc win

I’ll post after the game

Good results for us today. Strong performance tonight and we can go back to the top.

It would need to be a very strong performance. To return to being top we need to win by 11 clear goals.

Assume you mean go on level points with Leeds. Their goal difference is so much better than ours it's like having an extra point.
However if we can stay within touching distance, then it sets up our game against Leeds at the Lane on 24th Feb.

The Leeds and Burnley scores take the pressure off. Even if we lose we don't lose much ground. We know it's going to be tough especially with them having the backing of 40k fans, many of whom will have been on the piss half of the day!

I'd be tempted to start McCallum and give Burrows a rest as he's not been up to his early season standards the last couple of games. I expect we will try and keep it tight early on and take the crowd out of the game and it might not be pretty so we will have to be patient.

with a full side out yes we would have every chance of a win but 5 key players out so cant see anything but a win for sunderland 2 - 0

I wouldn't pay any attention to. Most of the comments on here mate most are from pigs on wind up, moderators need to. Clamp down on it

Sunderland haven't lost at home and have conceded 7 in 11

I can't see us scoring more than 1

A draw would be excellent. Ending today 2nd and above Burnley would be a real bonus. Getting Brereton in for Watford would be another bonus

For Sheff Utd it's not just the number of injuries, it's the players out.

Arblaster was building up to be our best outfield player, sets the tempo like a metronome
but he's injured and out for the full season. Our 2nd best midfielder Vini Souza and he's now showing niggley injuries in recent weeks.

However most Blades have been explaining that the secret of our success are 2 players
The goalie Cooper, not due to saves, in many games he has little to do, but he has statue, calmness and confidence and this rubs off on the defence.
Our centre back Souttar, he's 6ft 7 and been a man mountain, so commanding giving the defence so much confidence.

So losing Souttar, out of the season, is a massive blow.....basically our defence that keeps so many clean sheets is now severely weakened.
Souttar was a cult hero and very popular at Sheff Utd, so losing him has put a big damper on morale and confidence.

A postive from the season are the performances of attacking full back Sereki, he's been in brilliant form but now he's out injured. Rak Sakyi hasn't been playing that well recently but always capable of scoring or creating out of nothing, now Rak Sakyi is injured too.

Then up front our best striker this season has been Tyrese Campbell, he was in great form but but now he's been out for a while and expect back at the end of the month and of course our 2nd best striker Moore is injury prone and just returned from a few weeks out.

So regards the January transfer window, it's not about improving the squad, it's about trying to replace injured players to try to stay at that level.

Most Blades I spoke to, expect a defeat and we'd be delighted with a draw, this would put us back in 2nd place.

Don’t socks normally go round ankles ?

The Sunderland midfield will be very different to the one we saw at the lane , Watson tore us a new one at the lane, Ballard and Rigg were solid, all out. The biggest losses for us will be Souttar (who got sent off) and Souza. Hoping it’s a closer affair than I’m led to believe

With expectations so low, a half decent performance will be seen as great. Results being the bottom line, a draw would be as good as we can really hope for. A defeat seems expected. A win.....possible but!!! We'll see how we set up and deal with the young bucks of Sunderland. Want a 1-0 win, will take 0-0, expecting
2-0 defeat. Yep, that covers it
