Injuries

Cheers mate, as someone who doesn’t work in the medical field, it’s just one of those things that I’d expect. Bad injury = stretcher, but I ain’t got a clue really
One to think about-was the stretcher long enough ? Try hanging a bloody painful foot/ankle/leg over the edge of a stretcher. Like stretch Armstrong 😳

Yep this list is heading back up to ‘Hecky’ levels again!!!!
That can't be right as the injuries under Hecky were all down to the training regime and a bad pitch at Shirecliffe therefore now the training regime has changed and there is a new pitch, surely the only cause can be Wilder's training regime and drinking culture which has been introduced . ;)

The injuries were clearly not just a covid, training pitch or Hecky issue as they continue. Either we sign injury prone players or something on the strength and conditioning side is still badly wrong.

I wonder what that ‘investigation’ turned up last season? We could do with another one.

It is really odd. Every club get injuries but ours are all mostly always long term. The last 3 seasons have been ridiculous

I was taking the piss when Campbell got injured the other week saying we’d not see him until February.

We don’t seem to get one game injuries, I don’t know if the players are that ‘athletic’ nowadays that they can’t just jab them with cortisone and get them playing like many players did a generation ago but there must be some players who are just out with a knock and then back again.

Souttar back at Leicester already, No due dates on Souza, Campbell or Serki but deffo not back until after the cup tie weekend, JRS possibly back for Cardiff all according to my sort of ITK mate.

(He’d not heard anything on how Wilders meeting with the new owners had gone)

We've done well with injuries up until 3 or 4 weeks ago. I think our small squad makes injuries more likely to happen. Plus I think team management are being ultra cautious and not rushing players back, which is understandable

These injuries do feel different to me, than to the last couple of years.

This season I can't say I'm surprised we've ended up with injuries, it seemed inevitable. If you want to compete at the top of the table you need the depth to do so. We simply don't have that, as a consequence we've had players playing through niggles and playing a lot of minutes. To further add to it we've rarely dominated games or had enough control to really lower the tempo.

We've then signed a few players who aren't used to playing really regular minutes: i.e. Rak Sakyi, Gilchrist and for the previous half season Souttar (who's also had crazy travel for international football) and then you have Campbell who's struggled with injuries previously too. Overall there's a certain inevitability about where we find ourselves right now. Hopefully we can add a few in the transfer window, otherwise keeping pace at the top feels a bit ask, looking like it'll need a big points total to finish in the automatic spots.

Remember when Yokozuna got "injured" in WWF and they couldn't fit him on stretcher and had to get a forklift

Mercifully Souttar is too tall as opposed to wide!

I’m not sure they feel different to me at all.

I agree with the ‘small squad’ sentiment. The issue is we signed Campbell (fitness issues), Souttar (hardly played) and Moore (flogged to death). These were additions to the thin squad we already had. It’s unrealistic to expect these players to sustain a full Championship season.

Add to that one of our good youngsters getting a long term injury, Brewster being flakey as fuck, Davies being a ‘bonus’ whilst he’s fit, RND coming off a long lay-off.

It’s clear why we’re suffering, we’ll just have to muddle through and hope we don’t sign crocks in January, although I’m not sure any loan signings will be anything other than out of favour, out of fitness squad fillers from PL teams?!

Souza’s out for 5 weeks. Source - Souza.

The lack of depth is catching up with us I’m afraid.

Souza being out for 6 weeks is pretty catastrophic

Missing 10 games or so right in the thick of the season like this is a massive blow

What a monumental backfiring of risking him v Burnley. What a price to pay - and from a game we lost anyway

We need to sign someone to replace him. Today showed how wide open and vulnerable that midfield can be with the players we have fit. Decent opponents will punish us

Wilder interview just now says no one likely back who's currently injured until Norwich. Great.

Sems when we get players injured it's due a month plus each time! Souza was less than that but it's obvious he wasn't fit and is now out for 5/6 weeks.

Will we replace Souttar or just go with what we've got? Surely not the latter but didnt sound optimistic on players coming in early from interview right now but maybe Wilder just playing things down.

Only difference under Wilder is at one point this season we did have a fully fit squad.

That said I reckon Blaster was injured much earlier than the Wednesday game and should have been rested. Also starting Souza against Burnley was utter madness and now we have lost him for 5 weeks or more.

Tough decisions are being made and they appear to be the wrong ones at the moment.

Not to be even more of a downer, but I can't help but feeling we'll end up with a few more out in the coming weeks.

O'Hare has played a lot of minutes, especially given how many games he missed at the start of last season and the end of the season before. I think he missed in the region of 45 games over the last two seasons. We're expecting a lot of him to stay fit and play every game.

Davies is obviously a massive worry, I can't imagine any part of his rehabilitation plan included playing the amount of minutes we need from him at the moment. Then we have Brewster, who's injury plagued career suggests we can't rely on him being available. Moore isn't getting any younger, is only just back from injury and again we have zero options to allow any rest for him.

Then we have the younger players, who I'm sure are incredibly fit, but haven't proven an ability to play week in week out. The likes of: Gilchrist and Peck are having a lot asked of them at the minute.
Finally we have Hamer, who'll miss two through suspension very soon and at current rate another 3 before the end of the season, so that's 5 without injury or red card.

Without reinforcements we're on really thin ice.

has campbell just vanished then as im pretty sure wilder said it was his back and he should be back by next week but that was 3 weeks ago

Shacks has been injured most of his career. He’s a super lad apparently but his injury prone ness and his lack of height/size made giving him a 3 year contract a truly baffling decision
We couldn't even field a team at the start of July, and the manager was given a transfer remit of just loans and frees. Under those circumstances, I understand why we signed him.

Anyway, back to the original question.... Injured or ill?

Just going off what I saw. I’ve seen the exact same injury on a good friend of mine. Just a lot of similarities. HS just looked so scared to put his foot on the floor. He was in pain from the vibration of him walking could see each step looked painful.

As we know a hairline fracture is much better than a serious Achilles injuries. I hope you’re right but fear I am.
I think I should become a physiotherapist!
