Tyrese Campbell

I’ve said it for many a season,if we buy a player for ‘premier league money’ he most likely will be a flop or not reach his potential but when we go looking for free transfers we tend to have a crystal ball Didsy was a free and he really was class and I bet we could name quite a few that have signed for nowt or for very little money Brian Deane another we can go on and on…

I agree with you…. Hunger is a big thing in motivating players. Tyrese clearly is relishing the chance he has here & wants to improve. Right now arguably the best signing in the whole Championship this season based on fee paid.

He's definitely up there but that sainz at Norwich was a freebie as well I think and he's not doing too badly this season

Campbell is the archetypal Chris Wilder striker in many ways. It’s clear he has got ability but has never proven it and can’t seem to put a run of games together. He then gets motivated, fit and starts to reach his potential and looks a completely different player. See Leon Clarke, Mcgoldrick and briefly Mousset

Genuinely made up for the lad. Not because he's scoring game after game at the moment but he's been through some tough moments lately and he's showing how character, finding his feet.

He's the type of player united fans love if you ask me.

Apparently Bournemouth are sniffing around. He's obviously not going anywhere.

It depends.

If Prince still here could sell him so we can buy some players.

If tekova happens we don't know state of play with their finances.

Load of crap IMO.

Injury prone striker that's scoring in one of the best teams in the division.

Would be like a Brewster risk we did surely?

If he can get and stay fit, he is the real deal.

A lightwork cameo but even in 'rehab' mode, his movement off the ball is a nightmare for opposition defenders to play against.

My guess is the we never signed him to be a #9 in our system, making it even more astonishing just how natural he looks playing that role.

Chuffed he's back.

Honestly my signing of the season (after cooper, perhaps!)

I love him. Can do everything as a striker and makes the team work so much better because he’s got it all.

I actually thought Brewster played fairly well (by his own standards)particularly second half but it’s no coincidence that have a proper no.9 made us work so much better. I think he’s the real deal this guy, let’s keep him fit!

Led the line superbly when he came on.

Quick, powerful and a great touch.
That movement in behind gets us up the field.

Reminds me a bit of purple-patch Leon Clarke.

With BBD, Cannon & dare I say, Brewster (looked good with a partner to play off), we have some good options available.
Hopefully Moore comes back feeling sharper in a month or so too.

Poor performance by the team tonight, but what a difference sending some athletes on at HT did.
Seriki - exceptional impact. Has to play more.

Some sort of epiphany - run down the line - get the ball - then attack them. I think he might turn into a Great.

Keeping him fit is the key thing, but Cannon and BBD coming in might take some of that pressure off and let him steadily build his fitness back up.

While we have missed Souttar and Souza in recent weeks, you could make the case that we've missed Campbell just as much, as we didn't have another natural number 9 to cover for him which led to us relying on Hamer to get more goals.

With him injured, we only had Moore, Brewster and Oné, and while they all have their own individual strengths, none of them are natural finishers like Campbell is.

I'm not sure Campbell is fully over whatever his injury was. He looked pretty knackered and was reluctant to press aggressively. However his movement and play was superb. If we can keep him on the pitch for the second half of the season he will make a massive difference

I made this EXACT same comparison tonight 🔮

He can do it all as a #9 - Play off the shoulder, work the channel with his pace, back to goal with his strength and has that instinctive 'lurking' quality that Billy was a master of.

It's hard not to get excited about how good of a striker he can be if he can stay fit for 25-40 games a season.

I maintain that purple-patch Leon Clarke was the best CF I've seen at BL.
Only rivalled by purple-patch Lys Mousset.

Shame neither of them could make it last longer than 6 months!

You're right though, Campbell looks to have the lot. I've been shocked at how good he is at CF.
If fit, it's about who plays with him. He's nailed on if he keeps this going.

Well a proper number 9 but also playing two up top and allowing O’Hare to play in his better role behind
