Thorsvedt's daughter was at my school at the time.

EDIT - We might actually have missed each other by a year.

I was in the bar at Abbeydale Sports Club that night after a badminton match - they had the score on teletext.

I had a pint for all the first five goals, and I don't remember much else.

The first goal was a 'mistake'. Franz Carr received the ball back from a short corner but forgot the script. Instead of crossing it, as they had practised in training, he ran towards the goal, dribbled past the near static defenders, and stuck it in the net.

Sod hammering Spurs in the Premiership. Just join with Pinchy and enjoy the new ethos.

The football played was far too direct, should have played a 5-4-1 that night, too many forward passes, would have been much better stroking the ball around sideways and backwards,a 6-0 win against Tottenham is just unacceptable! :)
Bring back hoofball :)

Yes yes alright, we might have won 6-0 but it was a very hollow victory because the ethos was all wrong.

Yes i accept that and i can remember all the Blades fans complaining on the way out after the game that the performance was unacceptable, not enough passes etc and they wanted to see 'proper football' being played!

Could have been 7-0 if Alan Cork's goal near the end of the game wasnt disallowed. Not sure why it was disallowed

Was that really 20 years ago?! Why was I sitting in the South Stand I ask myself, John Street must have been under very long reconstruction.

Aye, fancy not having stuck with Harry for this past two decades.

Is it only me that sees the irony in people harking back to a game 20 years ago in order to prove some point against a poster who's main gripe is that we constantly live in the past?

No. Welcome to the new Groovy Gang.

As opposed to the irony that the more we strive to play this mythical 'proper' football, the lower down the league we go.

I remembered this as him curling it in from a ridiculous angle on the touch line (to be fair, I was still fairly young and stood at the back of the Kop), until I watched it again on video recently and it wasn't the wonder goal I recalled as a youngster :D

The other things I remember about the night are the big flag being used a little more than normal and the red nose up on the old John Street.

Posted this on Twitter on Sunday, barring one person who tried to "correct" me by incorrectly stating it was at White Hart Lane, everyone had the good memories :)

Can't remember when we last had "one of those" results, I don't mean hammering someone, but just something really memorable.

Good point. Why not hark back to the days when Pinchy's utopian style delivered the goods for us? I wonder if there's a poster still alive who would care to start?

Memorable for the right reasons... getting to Wembley with Porter's header was a good night.

From the other column... too many to forget.

1 result , much prefer the seven in a row were we beat , Southampton , Everton , Derby , Villa , Sunderland , Chelsea , &. Manu , only drawing at Wimbledon stopped us from setting a club record of 8 wins in a row . Will we ever see the like of it again , beating spurs was good , forest 5-2 away was a good un so was Southampton away , le tiss , shearer, and dowie , up front for them . Oh what the young un' s have missed and may never see again

Absolutely a memorable night. Donkeys years before that game, I remember my young piggy mates giving me heaps that Spurs had scored (I think that it was 7 at the other Lane, against us) A couple of them were with me when things were put right. Like an elephant I had not forgotten. I gave it them them back in spades. What a night. As an aside, they never talk to me about a certain Boxing day result when they got lucky.;) All I need do is repeat the magic numbers 7 and 3.

2002-3 season produced quite a few memorable games, not least the two cup games against Leeds - especially the first one.

If the style of football was the issue then we wouldn't be at the bottom of the third division. We would change it and win all our games. Look a little deeper and the answer smacks you in the chops.
