Not with Blackburn Rovers but Blackburn Olympic, the famous northern team who were the first working class club to win the FA Cup after years of amateur upper class universities domination. They were the forerunners for employing professional players as portrayed in the netflix series "The English Game"

Jack Hudson was SUFC's first ever captain and one of the first to answer an advertisement and sign for SUFC in 1889 when the club was formed. Left after only one season plagued by injuries.

I'm sure there was another Nick Blackman (Jacob Mellis) type, that kind of era, that went one way or another with high hopes and then fizzled out.

Edit: or maybe I'm thinking of Nick Blackman - I was sure the fee was around £110,000 and that transfer is quoted as £115,000.
