Nathan Blake coincidentally brought up the move to Bolton today on a BBC Wales podcast when talking transfers, hadn’t heard him mention it previously. Recall it used to be often said that it was Kendall that quickly wanted rid of him after he came in, hooked him early in his first game at Ipswich, and generally didn’t like him.

Blake said today that the club had been looking to sell him ahead of Kendall coming in – and that Dave Bassett told him he was being sold the day he was sacked, said there were a few options and he advised him to take Bolton. It took a bit longer to finalise, but had all been lined up and that Kendall sanctioned it to get the transfer funds (plus getting Patterson in the deal).

Kinda puts a nail in the coffin of the "he got sold because Kendall didn't like black players" rumour.
