We have shown at Leeds that if neither JRS nor Brooks plays we can hardly get out of our own half.
Those 2 not playing was not the whole issue though. It was more the adopting of a comparatively negative tactic which allowed Leeds to keep us penned into our own 3rd of the pitch. Even with those 2 playing, I don't see it making a difference unless the entire mentality of the team changed. Likewise, it was possible that we could have been more positive vs Leeds with Brooks and JRS being on the bench, and made it a much closer game without either of them being involved.
I know that Souza is a big loss , but stick Peck in and play the shape which has given success prior to Leeds.
The shape has had success to a pretty major extent because of Souza's presence within it. Peck is a talented young lad, but he absolutely does not possess the tools (mainly physical) to perform the same role that Vini has been doing.

Certainly we should be more positive tonight than we were on Friday, but I don't think you can just do a straight swap where Souza is concerned. When you look at our squad, his skillset is one which nobody else is able to match.

Could we put RND or JLT there and tell them to tackle everything that moves ?

Hopefully Wilder will look at the successful Bristol City formation at Boro — 4-2-3-1 — and revert to what had worked well before Leeds.

As for the Souza question, if we replaced him with Hamer, we'd negate his strengths (or be too open in midfield).

I'm also not sure that size is such a big issue for that role. After all, Makalele and Deschamps weren't so bad there. Maybe Peck or Shakalele could be our water carrier?

My team - know F ALL about Boro cf Leeds re two quick little players and need for discarded 3-5-2 as Wilder saw re his changes Shackleton and Burrows wing backs effectively with RND in back 3.

I know it's outrageous but it would be the best players in their best positions
Excluding vini of course

Cooper
Gilchrist Souttar Anel Burrows (despite looking shocking against Bogle has done OK )
Hamer Peck Arblaster Brooks
Japanese Jesus, Moore

Solid defence
Hard working (generally) midfield players OFFERING WIDTH AND CROSSES for Moore FFS (Jesus is quite tall as well but no idea his heading - suspect shite TB honest)
And pace height dribbling and shooting up front.
As I've said. Despite two tens in team Hamer is right footed and better there than Jesus is and Jeses quicker so has to be twin striker/10 favourite.

Journey man #Wilder will play journey men players like Shackleton though and new star (nonscoring as always) striker Ohare somewhere - possibly on the left again. And avoid OUR young players like Brookes and Peck as always.

He's out of his depth
He's out of his depth
His subs are all pre-planned
He's out of his depth.

If Burrows is out easy decision to get RND in as defended well against a major threat (in other games) at Leeds

Jesus or Brooks to whip in inswinging corners from right - WITH 3 GIANTS ATTACKING BALL FFS not stood

think shackleton will be brought in tonight alongside arblaster rather than peck i would still bench o'hare if hamer is fit play him supporting moore and bring brooks and rak-saki in as wide players

Why are people questioning Hamers availability? Wilder has said he's fit, unless of course he's lying, which I don't believe .
He limped off with what sounds like a tight calf. Calves strains/tightness, call it what u will, are notoriously difficult to sort out and usually need a decent amount of rest. If he starts I'd put a lot of money on him not lasting longer than 60 mins with the risk he makes it worse

Assuming Hamer and Souza are out and by the sound of it, Burrows.

Cooper

Gilchrist Souttar Ahmedhodzic McCallum

Peck Arblaster

JRS O’Hare Brooks

Moore

I know O’Hare hasn’t been doing well of late but with three enforced changes already I think you need some continuity.

Apart from the Leeds brainfart, O’Hare, Moore and JRS were becoming a settled trio. I’d like to see Brooks providing some natural width. I think him and McCallum could provide an interesting left side.

Probably a toss up between Peck and Shackleton but Peck seems a little better on the ball and he doesn’t lack confidence so I’m going for him.

Brewster to come on early enough to make an impact. But as with him, I don’t want to over-risk Norrington-Davies’ fitness.

I think that’s not far off?

Where has Burrows and Hamer out come from?

If Jesus is playing, I’m expecting some divine intervention and I’d want him ‘rising’ in middle to nod home rather than ‘crossing’ it from corners…

I’ll be amazed if we don’t start Shacks tonight in place of Souza. Elsewhere I reckon it will be back to the tried and tested personnel & formation. If Burrows is out, reckon he’ll play RND there.
Not saying that’s what I’d do.

From what l’ve seen so far l worry about playing Shackleton alongside Arblaster and Peck.

No Hamer, and what about Souza, is he injured?

Young midfield, without Souza Im worried.

Hamer probably still a tight calf and not worth risking. I don't think Burrows has been 100% fit for some time and again 3 games in a week is too much

I was very much ‘less than complimentary’ shall we say post Leeds.
So I’m gonna nail my colours to the mast and state that I am happy with that XI. If we lose then so be it… but at least I know pre game that we’re gonna give it a go! We should fear no one! And that line up says we’re going for it! 👊⚔️

hand on heart in great kop legend the gaffer tufty we trust but play wingers whicjh is what you did when we was winning dont play 3 at the back again theyve found us out were a much better team attacking from the off with 2 wide players sort the strikers out and we are on a roll yep so i predict a intent positive away WIN boro 0 blade 3..hamer.o hare.rak sakyi score..3 points in the bag back to what we do best in winning ,chow..utb from pasta man kop italian blade..forza sufc till my last breath.ciao...

With us playing again on Saturday against Stoke (making it 3 games in 8 days), not surprised to see squad rotation again.

Be only the second league game this season we've started without Hamer and the first league game without Souza, at a ground where we don't really get anything.
