Despite visiting Elland Road many times since the 80s, this is the first time I've attended a night match there by train.

Any tips on the best way back to the station considering the last train is 11 and probably won't finish until about 10.

I obviously know the way back but it's always been leisurely in the past with the odd detour.

Easy getting a cab? Quickest walking route?

Don't they have a shuttle bus that takes you straight there?

You always predict we'll lose every match and even admitted you'd prefer us to lose so we're not promoted.

Also when ever we're losing you post every day but when we're playing well and winning
you seem to disappear from the forum....wonder why?

Normally I'd agree we would probably lose tomorrow and Leeds would be favourites
however they have a few injuries and also a few of their players were on international duty having long flight.

First goal is vital but don't think they're be quite on it....I'm expecting a 1-1with an outside chance of a 2-1 Blades win.
Think the Middlesboro game will be tougher, we could have a few players suspended and always seem to struggle there.
Although we’re on a good run, I wouldn’t say we’re playing particularly well, we have done in patches.
All about taking our chances when they come.
Be our toughest game yet they still have some good players for this level, quick going forward.

Think they’ll have too much for us, 2-0 defeat.

Probably his biggest game yet,,,,,,,18 months ago he was in and out of the National League and League One.

He has been to Elland Road before in the FA Cup game with Plymouth ended 1-1 with just 1 booking......Michael Cooper missed that game.

Last season he got two Prem Games.

He also reffed the Championships league winners first game of this season.

Hope he's brought his ID if he's planning on a pint after the game.

Where are you drinking once you get into Leeds station on the way in?

Absolutely well up for this. Alarm set for 5.30am and tissues at the ready for when we score and (whoever scores) tribute paid to Baldock. I actually don't really care if we lose as long as we score... 😢
Totally agree with you Melbourne. O-2 on the scoreboard with a picture of George on screen. Sobbing like a baby. 😭

Also, anyone know when the full match video appears on YouTube or SUTV? I am probably going to miss watching so I might try the old phone off and watch it in the morning lark. UTB ⚔️⚔️

Yea, I think the players will be well up for this tonight, typical Yorkshire Derby fast & furious 1 - 3 Blades victory.
All for the love of George

Don't need to reinvent the wheel tonight. Just make sure it's still rolls smoothly.

Same side that won vs Luton for me. Should have enough quality on the bench that we can make telling changes if/when we need to.

Not convinced we'll keep a clean sheet again - they might just have too much in attack to shut them out for 90 mins. But they are far too frail at the back to not concede themselves. Full backs are both more comfortable going forwards, and they've lost their defensive lynchpin in Ampadu. Should mean our front 4 can expose their centre backs - as long as Meslier has another shocker in goal (always a possibility), we might well do alright for ourselves.

I'll say a 2-1 win. Moore and Hamer with the goals.

Gilchrist ----- Souttar & Anel ------- Burrows

-------------- Souza & Arblaster -----------

JRS --------------Hamer ---------------Brooks

------------------- Moore ---------------

I wonder if this could act as a more solid 4-3-2-1 off the ball with Brooks dropping in alongside Arblaster off the ball, with him or Arblaster jumping up turnovers

Or a 4-4-1-1 with 2 jumping when we win it back

"Ampadu" and "defensive lynchpin" in the same sentence!

You can jump on the shuttle buses back which drop at the station. Not easy getting a cab as they stick a road closure on ER after match and it causes traffic chaos. As I discussed on the thread that has now been consigned to the bin, the walk back into town isn’t far but goes thru a less than salubrious area but if there’s a group walking back you should be sound - takes about 20 mins (quickest route is up ER over the footbridge onto topmoorside and thru the industrial estate down side of the M621- just aim for Bridgewater Place, the one that looks like a dalek, and you can’t go wrong. Wouldn’t do the walk in colours as there is still the odd snide Leeds fan who’ll blindside you given the chance.

Blaster for me. O'Hare is good, but not sure he's got the requisite bottle for a Yorkshire derby. Arblaster has.
Can’t see Brewster starting- be Moore up top on his own with O’Hare behind. Blaster, Souza, RS and Hamer midfield IMO.
Important we stop Gnonto, everything good they do seems to go thru him.

Remembering how he was for us, it was very odd to see how well he's been playing for them. But before he got injured, his numbers backed it up. Among Leeds' best performers for tackles, blocks, and pass completion rate. Even now he's been out injured for 2 and a half matches, only their starting fullbacks have attempted more tackles than him.

I would suggest watching it on the telly, preferably in a pub.
Preferably a pub near the railway station.

Last time there were free buses parked right behind the away end that went straight to the south entrance of the station.
Note to self, read further down thread before entering repeat information

I think people forget that when he came to us he was very young and inexperienced. He’s had a season in Serie A and is several years older now- obviously improved his game.

Crucially he’s at a lower level. He was little better in his two years in Serie A than he was with us.

Their fans seem to be as uneasy as some of ours contemplating this match. I think seeing that they concede more goals than us we shouldn`t lose, so I am hopeful of one or three points to bring home.

Weirdly looking forward to tonight. These 6 games coming up are a big test but If we are within a few points of promotion slot by the end I will be happy. If we're still in autos I'll be delighted

I'm looking forward to it too because the Leeds and Boro matches should answer a few questions.

I think most of this season we've looked more of a solid/ professional/ pragmatic side that should finish top 6.
Although I really don't think we've clicked at all this season and looked like we're still in 2nd gear.

However for the 1st time this season the last match against Luton we played with a swagger and looked so well drilled and confident. Thought in that Luton match we showed strong signs we could end up being champions....I was so impressed.

Think our big asset this season is our defence and keeper.
Even when we have off days, we'll have many matches where we only need to score 1 goal to win the match.
Seriously can't see many sides scoring 2 or more goals against us this season.
It's pretty amazing how we've gone from seeing one of the worse defences in decades to possible having one of our best defences in decades. However the next 2 matches will surely test out the defence and keeper.

Agree we haven't been that impressive regards looking good, however all our wins have been deserved because the defence has looked so good. Also seems that Wilder hasn't found an attacking formation that works.
It's a new team that needs time to gel and Wilder is still experimenting trying to find a formation that helps us score.

Saying this....I do think we were really impressive against a shocking Luton side. On the day we totally outclassed them and looked well drilled playing as a team, the 2-0 doesn't reflect our total dominance. Came out of the ground feeling quite smug....for the 1st time seriously thinking our team could end up champions.

Think 1st goal is vital and the Elland Road factor could work for LU if they score an early goal or it could work against them if they're struggling against us and we start to control the game, the crowd will be on their back.

Injuries and suspensions are my biggest concerns, if we can keep our injuries and suspensions to a minimum and a positive January window we could be on for a successful season
