We need to get him a new deal ASAP.

We seem to be having a love in from Sky which is unusual and Wilder’s names seems to be spoken about in high regard across England.

I believe his contract is up at the end of the season. Needs to be sorted as a priority.
This looks embarrassing after yesterday

Reports coming out that Wilder is in line for a new contract!

Very smart play by all involved. There’s no one better.
Completely agree, he’s done very well. Deal is well deserved, and for the time being, I can’t think of anyone else I’d want to manage my club.

Contrast the general feeling of the forum only 3-4 months ago in May and June, negativity, predictions of us finishing lower mid table, and compare it with now. Whilst, as ever, there’s work to be done, Wilder has really impressed me over the summer and at the beginning of the season.

I can only imagine how excited he is for November 10th. He looks fired up. Deal is well deserved.

I know I’ve always been a bit of a Wilder fan sometimes, but I do think he’s done really well in a difficult window.

The style of play is nice to watch and the group isn’t made up of loan players like previous years.

We seem to be playing a style that if we went up and improved our starting 11 would have much more of a chance of survival.

If they have that sort of confidence in him wouldn't they have bust a gut to get him what he wanted on deadline day and give us a chance of automatic promotion?
Yup

But they’re skint (relatively speaking of course )

I agree he’s done a decent job up to now, going against the grain though I don’t think we should be offering him a 3 year contract yet, I genuinely think he may perform better and have more fire in his gut when he’s got something to lose (in this case being out of work without a pay off).

Alright cheers Abdullah that worked wonders with the playing staff last year so why not

You can get away with a lot of stuff because you’re not going to grass on yourselves. Transfer deals involve other clubs and agents though.
If the takeover is not complete, who has offered him the contract? PA?

In practical terms there's no immediate need to sort a longer term contract, he's unlikely to be poached or go elsewhere and has untill the end of this season .
Putting any bladeiness aside , the average tenure of a manager in the championship is just over 12 months , so logically giving a manager a 3 year deal is throwing money away , basically buying a 3 year warranty on something with a 12 month lifespan .
Realise that sounds harsh but just how football is .

I don’t think there’s a better fit for us as a club.

Us fans (bar a few) love him, and he seemingly loves the club. Think the way his last tenure ended would mean that doesn’t happen again.

Would be a dumb decision. He’s not in demand, and he needs us way more than we need him because if it wasn’t for his previous successes with us he’d be a league one/bottom end championship manager now.

Let’s wait and see how things are looking at Christmas before giving him a new deal. Remember, he’s been in charge since the start of December and in that time he’s won 4 league games. 4.

Why is it that when we sign bad players it’s the boards fault, but when we sign good ones then it’s all Wilders efforts?

Agree….his stock is so low…..no other Championship club will go near him.

The club holds all the power and Wilder has no other options so there’s no rush.

Altho I wanted Wilder to replace Heckingbottam, my reason was because we were his last chance saloon. His career was virtually over so I knew he’d be more determined than ever. He is literally fighting for his livelihood.

He’s doing well so far but it’s what I expected of him in the Championship but the irony is……if we’d have lost to Watford then the noisy minority on social media would be screaming for him to be sacked.

Let’s wait until Xmas and see where we are just before the Jan transfer window.

Think it’s because several players like O’Hare, Rak Sakyi etc all commented that Wilder sold the club and was a massive reason why they choose us over other clubs. In the window we’ve managed to bring in most of our 1st choice options and Wilder had a big influence on that happening.

We have a fantastic chance of automatic promotion as it is anyway.

That may be true but the facts suggest it's a relatively short lived and precarious job .
Think most managers know they're a bad month away from getting moved on.
We have him under contract and really that should be enough .

That's football fickleness for you. But come Christmas his stock could be really high, it changes that fast.

Was chatting with him last night and I said the same. He gets the club, the fans and has lived it on all sides. I was a bit pissed and said he’s the right sort of arsehole as he takes no shit from anyone.
