Need to get balance right with a few of these risks and not go overboard or the sentiment of what you're saying will become true. Dozzell been perfect as seen him in friendlies. Last week of window signing 2 or 3 of these gambles and its likely wasting money based on previous times tbf.

In 18/19 we signed the following players (among others)

• David McGoldrick
• Oliver Norwood
• Gary Madine
• John Egan

Not to mention the likes of Martin Cranie, Scott Hogan and Conor Washington.

All of these players were signed due to them either being free, cheap or going a bit stale at their other clubs. Pretty much all of them contributed meaningfully to our promotion. Granted, it was needs must that season, but it's very very reasonable to sign players who, like Bowler, have plateaued out due to lack of opportunity or are surplus at clubs in better positions than us.

John Egan? Neither free nor cheap, and made 33 appearances for Brentford in the season before we bought him. He was also their captain.

Millar is a better player by the underlying numbers but would likely cost more money. Plus, if Bowler was to come on loan then that wouldn't rule out also signing Millar or "a good young prem talent on loan". Can't only have 11 players and Bowler has a bassline of Championship competence

They did similar with Toffolo & O'Brien who have both really stagnated since going there.

There's a lot of Forest players I'd take. Worrall, McKenna (now a free agent), O'Brien & Bowler would all be good squad additions.

If they're both left footers who play from the right I'd expect one or the other, and I'd prefer Bowler but if he's only to be a loan then Campbell on a free becomes more appealing

Don't totally disagree with the principle, but the rebuild is massive.
They can't all be Callum O'Hare's.

We've lost: Bogle, Baldock, Basham, Egan, Lowe, Osborn, Norwood, Fleck, Traoré, McBurnie & Jebbison.
We only received about £6.5m in fees for that lot. We have to take some punts.
