First Signing confirmed. At least we can see some movement.
Where can I put a bet on us winning the league and getting 100 points?

Several youngsters? My friend we only have 3 / 4 that you would even look at as a slim chance of making an impact.I don’t understand why so many are ignoring or writing off several youngsters before they have played in the Championship.
We already know there is raw talent there so why not let several be part of the squad. If they are not good enough we still have the JTW and next summer’s window to keep building.
Until we are into September I cannot see how this window can be judged.
If there are some who think our squad should be complete this month from quality acquisitions then I don’t think you are being realistic.
Absolutely spot onSeveral youngsters? My friend we only have 3 / 4 that you would even look at as a slim chance of making an impact.
We got promoted last time with the star of the academy and loans from others clubs. Blaster is our new star of the academy and players like Osula have a good chance of being a good sub. Brooks it’s hard to tell and that’s about your lot.

The alternative is to sign professional players we know have the ability. How can you judge any player until they have played a few games at a particular level.
We don’t get to see them in training and practice matches.
I don’t see what the alternative is unless you hope that we can put together a squad of experience.
I agree with signing experience and quality but I just don’t think we are in a position to find enough of them who want to come here to create a full squad. The alternative is to sign professional players we know have the ability.
It’s the same as I ca judge you and I aren’t championship players as we don’t have the ability or at least haven’t shown it.
The championship is no mugs game. There’s players in there that have payed 200+ games in the Premier League.
I hope you’re right but they haven’t shown anything they are championship quality.
I was surprised yesterday that a report on man utd signing a player this week was regarded as " acted early "in the transfer market. I suppose many on here think were miles behind everyone . I realise that we need alot of people through the door but in transfer window terms its still early ( according to the football media )
Yep in very different situations, my point being that to most its still early . If players are lined up then it takes a day to sign a player so hopefully in a couple of weeks things will look very different. If not we can be be concerned.Big difference is Man U have a team. We dont. We needed players as soon as last season ended. As for Man U no one cares about us but us fans. We are miles behind everyone who has a 22 player team.
I agree! Although no way we are getting BBD back next year. If the rumours of roma being interested in Hamer and Fulham interested in Souza, BBD is easily worth a punt for a lower PL side.if we're living in glass half full land, I can see at least a very very competitive championship starting XI taking shape. if we get worrall/o'hare/Moore over the line, get a takeover with funds to tempt BBD back and keep hold of key players (anel/bogle/hamer) we just need a RW and a GK, then I think we'd be in a very good position

youve forgot worrallIf our use of 4-2-3-1 in the York game signals a change of formation, could we be seeing something like this for Preston game.
-------------------New
Bogle*-Anel*-Trusty*-McCallum
------------Arblaster-New
--------New-Hamer-Brooks
----------------Moore*
*'s next to names are dependent on players either being here for this season or having competition, such as.
Bogle/Curtis
Anel/New CB
Trusty/JLT
Moore/Osula/Mcburnie/Brewster/New
Possible new players based on links, Callum O'Hare for that RM position.

Great post and more or less reflects my thinking.Pending official confirmation of incomings (Burrows & McBurnie for now, possibly Dozzell also), I count 27 players in the squad, including youth players that have featured in pre-season. However there are still positions in need of reinforcement, some desparately so. Youth prospects are italicised, pending incomings are in bold
GK (Needs at least one signing):
Adam Davies
Grbic
Def (At least one signing needed at RB, realistically 2 unless one youngster is backup)
Curtis
Seriki
Norrington-Davies
Ahmedhodzic
JLT
Trusty
Sasnauskas
McCallum
Burrows
Def/MF Utility - Shackleton
MF (Probably need another CAM as competition for O'Hare, unless Slimane can raise his game. Likely will need to replace Vini as well):
Blaster
Vini
Hamer
Tom Davies
Peck
Dozzell
O'Hare
Marsh
Slimane
FW (Includes wingers. Investment needed on both wings, unless we plan to just put strikers out wide and hope for the best):
Brooks
Moore
McBurnie
Brewster
Osula
One
I certainly don't think that squad is strong enough yet to compete. Tactics in pre-season, plus interview comments from Wilder, indicate a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation will likely be the go-to this season. So I'd say we still need the following:
- 1st choice GK (I could tolerate having Grbic and/or Davies as backup if we get a solid 1st choice option)
- 1st choice RB (Would be okay with Curtis or Seriki as backup, but signing a 2nd option would be better)
- Right-sided CB (Definitely one, possibly 2 if Anel leaves - definitely need a leader at CB as none of the current options are able to do this in my opinion. Someone like Chris Morgan who will happily shout at people all game to get in the right position)
- WINGERS. Only player who naturally looks comfortable out wide currently is Andre Brooks. Traore is on his way out, so all we have left is strikers with pace. Would rather we went out and signed square pegs for these square holes (BBD if we could get him would be amazing, David Brooks as well. Alternatively could look at youth loan options from PL clubs, and rely on our reputation for developing youth prospects.) Would love to see us go out and get someone in the mould of Jamie Murphy when he was at his best - thoroughly comfortable going one-on-one with a full back, and being thoroughly capable of beating them consistently. Decent delivery from wide, and a good eye for goal when cutting inside.
Swap Hamer with Shackleton and I would agree 100%
Yeah, I put Shackleton wide as he’s mainly a RB but either waySwap Hamer with Shackleton and I would agree 100%
