Newcastle United
Aston Villa
Chelsea

Are all supporting Citee in breaking the rules they all agreed should bind the Premier League, because it suits them to kill off competition.

Shame On You

If they succeed I for one will never watch a game involving them either live or on TV
Spookily enough, all three with exceedingly wealthy owners. Makes you wonder why they support this?

Funny that.

Villa right at the top of the FFP limits.

Newcastle might have to sell to stay within them.

Chelsea, spent about a billion on players under Boehly.

Almost as if all these clubs are voting through self interest rather than the good of the game 🤣

Pure greed nothing more to say

This is going to end badly for the Premier league I think...taking on a club owned by a powerful country..only one winner and its never going to be the fans is it

I don't care. were you not paying attention this season when Arsenal brought on a full back who cost more than our entire squad? This may matter to the top ten. Man U will oppose it because they can already spend more money than any other team because of their ability to generate vast incomes from abroad. If Qatar had succeeded in taking over, Man U would reverse their position on this like a shot. What if we are taken over by a billionaire? Man City did what Jack Walker did at Blackburn years ago. Cheating shock horror! Forest survived by breaking the rules. Rules which already guarantee the top 6 clubs safety at the top level. You generate more money you can spend more money. You generate more money by winning games. The top clubs make more money, so can spend more money. If I was a Saudi who owned Newcastle, a club who are still trying their best to follow the rules. I might be inclined to call Man U Liverpool and Arsenal cheats for manipulating the rest of the league to defend their own interests, running a virtual closed shop. Financial fair play is a sound idea designed to save clubs from reckless owners that pile debt on their clubs in practice it was a gift from the Gods for the already top clubs. If we go back up (I'm not optimistic) and we break financial fair play rules to survive, I'm going to shrug my shoulders and say fair enough. The deck is rigged against us already. West Ham sitting in a stadium we paid for for a small annual rental. Fulham charging three grand for season tickets. clubs everywhere having to sell home grown talent, the players home fans always identify with the most, purely to balance the books. I'm struggling to see the moral high ground the premier league clubs think they're sitting on.

To some extent I don't blame those clubs who are acting in thier own self intrest .
Club Executives and Directors are duty bound to act in the best interests of the business , it's pretty much what they're supposed to do.

Their job isn't to act in the best interests of the industry , that's the job of those who govern the League ( EPL EFL etc) .

I don't for one minute support the clubs stance in support of Man City's case just to be clear . It's fun to read that almost all comments on the man city forum are in support of the club and feel that they're persecuted by the EPL. Hilarious 😂

I was against the Super League

But I’m now four square behind it

go and play in the fairytale league, and go to away games in
Madrid / Paris / Dortmund / quatar ?
Every other weekend or even midweek, have a local derby against lyon

You’re welcome to it, let the rest of us in England & Wales play competitive games against proper teams who adhere to rules on a level playing field

Agree wholeheartedly, as long as in no circumstances would they be allowed back into the league and not in any other domestic competitions!

Hey . . . hey . . . .. psst . . . . hey lads . . .. over here . . ... Des Taylor . . . . .. . psst . . . . hey . ... hey . .yeah . . .. just hang on till this take overs announced and we'll be right there with you . . . . .

Recognise the sentiment above but the ESL was never a case of clubs leaving the EPL , simply a different champions league .
In a way they've achieved they're aim to a degree with the changes to the ECL by it being extended to 36 clubs in a single league format, ( albeit very complicated ) . It was just a trojan horse , a threat that'll remain to maintain pressure by the elite .

Always find it amusing to reflect on Peps comments on the ESL at the time ..

" That’s why I said many times, I want the best competition, the strongest competition possible, especially the Premier League. It is not fair when one team fight, fight, fight, arrive at the top and cannot qualify because success is already guaranteed just for a few teams" Pep Gaudiola

Funny that the club he's employed by will literally do anything to stifle competition.

Of course it is....it's normal....99% of everything in life is greed.
Football has never been the same since it turned pro in the 1890's, then it changed again when the maximum wage restriction ended in the 1960's.
Then it changed again (arguably for the better) when the PL was born.

Think it was Jimmy Hill of Match of the Day fame, who campaigned for abolition of the maximum wage.

Wonder what the fans of those clubs think....where finances mean they will be able to dominate for possibly decades.

Those clubs, like all clubs (including us) will go where the money is.

There's much more money in the PL than any Euro super league, so in the near future there's zero chance of them leaving the richest most watched, most popular league in world football. They'll want to remain in the PL and test out playing in a Euro super league at the same time.

Without the big 8 clubs in England, English football will become like the Scottish Premier league and will slowly die due to the lack of TV money.

But without the other 12 clubs to maintain a competitive league for them, that too will die

The league needs to have other teams other than the top 8 to be able to have a league worth watching, which can’t happen due to a total imbalance of overblown funding & stupid levels of wages / transfer fees plus agents fees.

Hence the need for implementing rules such as FFP

It's hilarious, accusing the Premier League of hating Arabs and that's why they're prosecuting Man City, saying geopolitics has a role to play in this investigation. Laughable, but they've already justified it all in their heads. The reality is they don't care if the owner is Arab (our owner is an Arab prince, albeit a skint one), they care that they have 115 charges.

Agree , there an anti Arab sentiment amongst city supporters but this is about state ownership , just so happens to be the middle east where this happens .
This is just a kick back and distraction to the 115 charges when all said and done .
If its a free for all it'll just stop any investment in football as owners will conceded that they'll never compete .
Hopefully common sence prevails

I see parallels with the proposed possibility of a drug fuelled Olympics where you can do what you want. Just fuck them off to the Euro League. No coming back.

Maybe what UK needs is a German style football ownership, where fans own 50% of the club plus 1 share, and then the rest can be divided up with all the billionares who want to be a share. It would give fans back control, and while it wouldn't completely eradicate the influence of money, it would likely level the playing field a lot more.

Also could do the Spanish method of electing the club's president, which would be hilarious

Can you remember when AVFC survived relegation because someone forgot to turn on the goal line technology?!
The f*ckers snided their way into the elites’ club and now they want to pull up the draw bridge.

It's a nice thought but the genie is out if the bottle on this one . Top clubs are now valued in billions , if the fans can stump up 2 billion between them there's nothing stopping them .Even in our case we'd have to find £50m or £5 k from 10,000 supporters .its doable but its money you'll never see again and you'll need another 2 or 3 k a year to throw the same way . For top clubs you'd have to multiply that by 20 or 30 times..

True, but it is surprising we don't see more fan owned clubs, despite them having been on the rise in recent years.

It's a joke isn't it. At some point in the future I have to explain these various shit shows to my 5yr old that absolutely loves football.

It would be good in an ideal world I agree.
Ultimately fans are less finacially important at the top levels these days . The broadcasters probably paid sufc 10 times what we did over the last year. Its sad but reality
