I’d love it if Wilder were his Bladey Blade self and an incredible tactical manager with a good eye for a signing. Sadly, BBD aside, he only seems to be fulfilling the first of those criteria at the moment, and on recent history.

All things being equal, who wouldn’t choose a manager who was not just fantastic at his role but also embodied the club? Imagine if Klopp, Arteta or Guardiola were die-hard fans of their respective clubs as well.

If we keep him, and if he can prove that he’s got the managerial nous and skills to succeed, that would be good. Sadly, for me, there’s little evidence that he can. If we have to choose between being a Blade and being a good, progressive manager, I know which I’d choose.

And we have minus two points because Brewster is shit?
Not just Brewster, the other shite he signed and we had to get rid of.

Apart from Ramsdale I can’t think of anyone he’s signed of any note worth more when we sold them than when we bought them.

We had a strategy of buying young with resale value and we’ve failed on that score.

I’m classing Ndiaye as an academy signing similar to David Brooks.

There's a lot of moaning about wilders signings, but for three premier league seasons worth of signings and what we've spent its nothing in premier league terms what him and hecky spent..

do you not think that there's a £35m player training with the kids because he isn't up to it at Chelsea or Spurs, I know there's an expensive goalie at Arsenal who cost a fortune and is now surplus, Brewster aside, it's not been a disaster in relative terms mainly because the great league one team were so good... were they all shite signings then?

I'm not a fan boy but ffs give him a break, our budget has never matched our expectations.. regardless of manager.

We could've signed 100 shit players, that's not why we have minus two points. We have minus two points because the bloke in charge of the clubs finances got it wrong.

Had Brewster (or anyone else) been decent and scored a dozen goals in the Championship, we'd have still not made the payments to who we owe. We don't earn cash per goal he scores.

Obviously, but Wilder’s shit signings are a huge contributor to our financial situation. You know that’s the point I’m making but if your Wilder fan boy subscription doesn’t allow you to see that then fair enough.

Has Wilder made us money or cost us money? I've not done the maths, but say you're right and he's cost us more than he's made, it still wouldn't make him responsible for the minus two points. It's up to the owner to spend within his limits, how would Wilder know how much Abdullah is willing to spend?

The only person being a fanboy here is you. It's impossible to say how much credit/stick Wilder, Knill, Abdullah, McCabe etc individually deserve for our promotions and relegations. One thing we should be able to all agree on is that we broke the rules and failed to pay what we owed, and the man responsible is clearly the owner.

If part of his plan was that we needed all/some of the signings to come off to pay what we owed, that's his decision. I get why people fanboy over Wilder for obvious reasons, but people doing it for Abdullah is just bizarre.

My views on the owner and his financial mismanagement can be seen in many posts on the subject on this forum. I’m not a fan.

This thread is about Wilder, so I’m commenting on Wilder. In my opinion his signings have been a financial noose for the club, we had a strategy of buying players with good resale value and we’ve failed on that score apart from Ramsdale.

All fair, it was your attempt to pin the minus two points on Wilder that I found unreasonable.

In fairness I didn’t specifically pin the -2 on Wilder, I said that his signings contributed to it. Not in those words but the initial post clearly doesn’t say it’s all on Wilder.

Wilder in.

I'd like to hear an argument for without someone referring to that he did in the previous promotion season and first season in the Premier League. All I ever read are arguments for based on things he did 5-6 years ago.

I'd like to read some arguments for based on the present, not the past. What has he done in the last year or two to convince you that he is the man to stabilise and rebuild this team?
Nowt

Was linked for a Premier League job whilst at Middlesbrough. That was easy 😂

But I’ve heard is going anyway. So let’s see who we can get next.
