berge is a quality player no doubt about it but you just get the feeling theres so much more in the locker with him and hes underachieved in his time in england having said all that weve missed him this season more than i thought we would
Berge is a tough one. Personally I don't think he'd have prevented us going down and even with the late surge from Burnley, I thought they were also destined to return to the Championship with us. Berge was never going to be the player to change that for them either.

Berge was a very good player for us in the Championship, he stood out and was a massive part of us getting promoted as he was decent going forward. However, i don't think he was the right player for us once we got up because he was perhaps more of a luxury player because he was very much an attacking player.

Replacing with Hamer allowed us to get a player that attacks, but also can work deeper for us. The problem with our style is that we need to have all our central midfielders working when we reach the Premier League, it's not that Berge was lazy, he worked hard and often had those rosy cheeks that showed he was putting the effort in.

The problem was he wasn't tough enough, wasn't fast enough to react and for all his forays forward, he offered a lot less defensively than we need. He perhaps fits better in the Burnley style, which Kompany didn't want to abandon, but i don't think he will really show his quality until he makes it into a better team, perhaps he needed a move to a mid table side, like Chelsea, Spurs, Brighton or Palace. But he would need to have grafters and ball winners around him, perhaps he'd do alright in Spain or Germany.

So he finds himself back in the Championship, he didn't really have a choice where he went, he was getting sold since he didn't want to sign a new contract, so like Ndiaye, he made his choice. It's not worked out brilliantly for either, Berge has settled into the side better at Burnley, Ndiaye appears to have gone backwards as his confidence has been knocked. Berge needs to be back in the Premier League or playing in a European top league, for his career, so i could understand if he pushes for Burnley sell him. If they don't need to sell him, he'll be a decent player in the Championship next season.

I like Sander, both as a bloke from what we see and hear from him, and as a player. However, he wouldn't sign a new contract: why that is remains to be seen and maybe the club are to blame on that I don't know. But what we know for definite is that we got as good a player if not better in Hamer who is still under contract and seems like he's happy to say by all accounts and if he does go we get at the very least our money back, hopefully more.

Sander has got Burnley's player of the season and that's credit to him but there's no way I'd rather Berge than Hamer, especially given if we'd kept Sander he'd be going for nowt now. Also. for those saying we played him out of position; well he was playing in the Championship for the most part and for £20m I'd be expecting more than square passes and safe passes, which is what he was doing as a deepr centre mid. He excelled on those driving runs on the right afurther up the pitch and got himself several goals and assists there. If he was that impressive then I would expect bigger or more established clubs than Burnley come in for him to be honest, given he was going for a bargain £12m ish and is a seasoned international. I'll be interested to see whether Berge stays at Burnley or whether they'll be constant rumours of him leaving in the transfer windows as there was with us.

Rumoured to be on his way from Burnley, might get some money from sell on clause, although I wouldn't imagine they're going to be making too much of a profit on him

20 million to Ferna is the rumour.

They probably make a profit on him purely from him having three years left to run on his contract as opposed to one

Well that went well for him didn't it 😂 Fenabache in the UCL or no?

I'm sure Sulky John will be happy to see his old mate Sandra joining him in the Turkish League

We got national stick for it but selling Berge was 100% the right thing. He wanted off for years and wasn’t good enough to change our fortune last season.

I still disagree with the NDiaye sale. We replaced him with Archer who was essentially a loan. We might as well have taken the gamble with NDiaye instead.

We will find out how Good Ndiaye would have been last season. He could flop at Everton like he did at Marseille

Good luck to Sander, look after number one! We couldn’t get near him last season and people still thought he was shit.

I don't think any United fan thought he was shit. On the contrary, every United fan I've spoken too about SB thought he was an elegant skillful player with plenty of ability. Problem was, often that ability remained latent in the game and he tended to drift through it rather than take the game by the scruff of the neck that his undoubted abilities could have done in the Championship. Therefore people could get frustrated with him (just as you would be if your child was potentially really good at something but just wanted to arse about during lessons!). Those irritations were justified I thought.

So, not sure where you are getting the tag line about fans thinking he was ''shit' from as I've not heard fans saying that about him.

Its a shame he received such abuse last year, all he wanted to do was see out the last year of his contract and weigh up his options, he couldve signed another deal then, instead he was sold, he never asked for the transfer.
