I remember all this Harry, but the Prince did say in the Ramble interview (when asked if we are seeing benefits from the United World) that those two were UW signings.
I completely agree with you, and the poster pointing out about Lester's past with Anel.
Maybe it was a United World scout that first scouted them, so I’d imagine that’s what he’s claiming. I also suspect they scout loads of players who maybe out of their league in terms of price and wages and so pass all the relevant information onto to Paul Mitchell who will then do his own work and see if he feels they are good enough for United.

Berge is clearly a Wilder signing going by what he said regardless of who first set eyes on him while scouting. A United World signing implies that they were signed without the managers approval or even knowing about it which isn’t the case here. I doubt very much the Prince has signed any player without the manager saying yes he’s one I want.

Well it's good that we've quickly decided that he's not gonna be good enough. Now for us to recognise that some of those who have played for us for years aren't good enough. That shouldn't be too difficult should it ?

It could've been so different if he'd scored that one-on-one vs Forest in the first away game. His confidence would've been sky-high, and he'd be up there with Haaland for the golden boot winner.
That’s why when we sign forward players we need to make sure they can kick a ball properly.

I'm genuinely happy this lad is moving on, good luck to him, he just isn't a Utd style player.
And, if Diaz is his replacement, I will be even more happy, as I see him as exactly the type of player that will be of use to us moving forward!
Proven in the Championship, and someone that always seems to give 100%.

I think this is with two things in mind. He’s not ready for Premiership football, he’s actually miles off it. He doesn’t have a turn of pace and doesn’t look a prolific goalscorer either. That was obvious in the games he’s started.

I don’t think he’s strong enough for Championship football either. He’s definitely a skilful player though so will probably suit foreign football more than he does here if he’s given a bit more space & time on the ball.

Hopefully it works out for him in France, I think English football is a step too far unless he strengthens up.

I think he's got a turn of pace, but has appeared too weak.

End of the day we have Osula who is a far more suited physical presence to invest time in.

That is still going to leave us with possible Bremerton-Diaz and Archer backed up by Brewster and McBurnie and that’s not mentioning Jebbo or any other youngsters like Hackford and Marsh. Also got McAtee who could play as a 10.

Define fails? He's a developmental prospect, anyone expecting him to immediately come into the SUFC starting lineup and be bagging a dozen this season would be almost as deluded as expecting Spurs buying Lankshear off us as an immediate replacement for Kane.
I'd agree with what you say here, which is why it was a very poor signing from the off. We didn't need to be spending that much money on a "development" player given our limited resources.

My goodness, that was a bad transfer window.

To sign the Rotherham keeper would be a brilliant start.
Diaz would be a brilliant signing as he can hold the ball and take defender's on and create but also has a proven record of scoring in English football.
Another centre half and a strong midfielder and we have a fighting chance. Ship out the dead wood and let's start winning our home games , starting by beating west ham with a new look team would be a massive confidence booster .

He’s fast don’t get me wrong, but most defenders are too in this league so I don’t think that quality really stands out for him. He’s looked like a kid at times vs some of the defenders.

It’s interesting how Jack Lester is still with us & Traore hardly appeared for Hecky at the end and been non existent for Wilder other than a couple late cameos.

I think Lester who’s in charge of the strikers knows he’s miles off it for this league.

nowt personally against the lad but it was poor scouting by our staff he was never going to be a premier league player and as one poster has said also too lightweight for the championship much more chance of success for him abroad

It's one thing to say he is never going to be a PL player, that's a defendable opinion. To say he never was going to be a PL player in the past tense, as if any chance someone barely 21 might develop ever has already gone, is quite the shitting on someone for the sake of shitting on them

Nantes have way better options in the position benie plays so for them to take the option up he will have to hit the ground and running

That, or they're not a club who are scared to invest in potential

To quote Dave Bassett, "potential gets you the sack".

Or to put it another way, if you are promoted to the PL with a bunch of players who have never played there, don't waste a limited budget on more "potential".

The Ryan One signing is a good example of a development signing we should be making with our resources. Traore is not.

Although v amazed that we spent the apparent £4m on him with his record and experience.
i would hope it were more in the line of £500k with lots of add ons

In which case I refer you to post 6 of the thread. Transfer decisions that are in the best interests of the manager are rarely in the best interests of the club, and vice versa. I couldn't care less if Wilder doesn't like the player and would prefer to get someone else in on loan that best extends his chances of keeping his job beyond May, that's not in the interests of United

If it improves his chances of staying at the club, that suggests he’s done well enough to, which is good for the club. Persisting with signing people who might be good enough one day but aren’t yet isn’t the right approach.
