Good move.

Chappy may well be very useful from the bench. I like his direct running and trickery a lot. If he can add the final product as in crossing the ball into dangerous areas then we have yet another player (at this level at least) to come from the youth set up.

I thought last season he wouldn't make it but he's done well when I've seen him and I think he's been liked when out on loan.

Well done Morgs, he obviously thinks he can do a job as well

Every new manager does that so they can see what he can do

Except Chris Morgan knows exactly what Jordan Chappell can do since he's been in charge of the reserves for a nearly two years.

So one can only assume that Chris thinks Jordan can offer something in the run in.

If Jordan Chappell is the answer, then we are fucked. He is 21 years old, has been a pro for 3 years and his only league appearance remains the anonymous cameo at the end of the Hartlepool disaster.

I am sure he is a lovely young man, but he is obviously not good enough even for the 3rd division.

Why? Because Danny Wilson didn't play him. With your history on players Darren, I would have thought you knew of a lot of players who were late bloomers.

Do we know how he has been getting on at Torquay? Was he getting a game?

5 games games since he went there in March.

Neither did Blackwell, Speed or Adams Thats 4 managers who didn't rate him.

Never seen anything to suggest he'll do anything to aid us on the run in, but certainly can't hurt to have him on the bench. Would have preferred Tonne, but I realise the logistics are different and we have more options on the left anyway.

Methinks Morgan has looked round at the striking and winger "talent" in the squad and thought "well, you never know, Chappell might be a better bet than some of this shower".

Can he really be any worse than Robson? Or recent Murphy displays?

It beggars belief that we have Kitson and Porter in the squad and no one who can go to the by line and deliver a cross properly.

I see no harm in sticking the lad on the bench.

Just had a quick look on a Torquay forum and it's the usual stuff, some are saying he'll be a loss and some are saying he's been crap anyway.

So he wasn't exactly setting alight Torquay who, lets remind ourselves, are desparely struggling against relegation to the conference.

I have just checked and he never played a full 90 minutes in any of his games for Torquay.

Desperate times, Darren. I have seen worse United teams, but never one more limited going forward. I see nothing wrong with a new boss wanting all resources (save Cresswell) at his disposal.

Oh, now you mention Blackwell I am going to back down. Adams also didn't rate Jamie Ward or Leon Britton but brought in Michael Doyle.

Forte couldn't get a game at Crawley this season and was sent back to Southampton. He was ever present under Wilson when fit.

Horses for courses and Morgan may think that he suits the style of play that we want to play. Because Blackwell didn't rate him, well I just despair!

Well you've sold him to me Dazzler. Not being rated by Hoofy and Alehouse must be amongst the best recomendations in the game.

Can his inclusion mean we a are worse than NIL, NIL, NIL and NIL which is the damning stat that sums up our last 4 home outings?

Well indeed not, but I think those who think Chappell is going to see some sort of Messiah are in for a rude awakening. As I say, the guy is 21 and the peak of his career is struggling to play 90 minutes in one of the worst teams in the Football League.

Hmm, interesting logic.

I didn't play in the last 4 home games when we failed to score. Would it be any worse if they gave me a game :)

Is there anyone who thinks Chappell will be a game changer? Certainly no one is claiming that in this thread.

Ok, you've got me on the hyperbole charge :-)

My point is that all the evidence suggests that Chappell is one of our worst players. Thus suggesting that he will make a major positive contribution in the games ahead is a little on the optimistic side.

If Chris Morgan had seen you play a few times and thought it worth a go then I'd go along with it. It's, perhaps, his one chance to land a job like managing SUFC, I suspect he'll do all he can to make it happen.

FWIW I thought JC wasn't one of the better players whenever I saw him play for the U18's and I was surprised he was kept on, but having sat through the last 6+ hours of "we'll not score if we play all day" tedium I can't see him doing any worse than some others I could name. At the very least he's young, fit and eager (I would hope) which is something we seem to be missing with other.

Indeed, as I say, I can see the logic of Morgan wanting all hands on deck and hence recalling Chappell, but the guy's career up to the relatively advanced age of 21 does not inspire one with confidence in his abilities.

So who is one of our better players?

So who is one of our better players?

I would suggest that the players that have maintained a team around the top of the third division are better players that someone who could not get in that team and who (despite only being 21) wasn't seen as someone fit to play 90 minutes in a team at the bottom of the 4th division.

Of course, I am not saying our current first teamers are world beaters - far from it - just that Chappell is obviously not as good as them.

I can't see him doing any worse than some others I could name.

He probably cant do any worse based on the 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 record recently, unless he sticks one in his own net.

If Chris Morgan is feeling lucky this weekend, he would be better doing the Euro Millions than expecting McCabes SUFC to turn up and thereby hand him a managers job.

Darren, have you seen any of our last 4 home games?
