I had the pleasure of playing cricket with both of Norman Yardley’s twin sons over the years.
Both great lads, but nowhere near as talented as their Dad - which we had great enjoyment in mentioning to them at the time. And still do!😉
I met him at a Midweek Alliance game that my Dad was playing in and I was scoring in the mid 1980s. I think he was watching one of his sons. he came to the pub with the teams afterwards. I didn't know who he was until my Dad explained. He came across as a really nice bloke.

Corner of John st, not sure of year, maybe early 70s
Used to meet my uncle there - it was also the drop off and pick up point for the coach that took us to and from the games in the early 70s ,courtesy of the Kiverton Park supporters club .

Had many a wonderful experience at that corner - mad anticipation before going into the Lane , and some amazing memories to talk about on the way home whilst listening to BBC sport and passively smoking a few Park Drives on the coach

Happy days

Silent, I 100% respect your ability to identify any United player, opposition, result, programme price, Green 'Un headline and half-time entertainment in any grainy picture from about 1903 onwards, but dating random street scenes to year and month is next level. I need to know how you did it?

He took the photo.

Sorry, I think it was 25th September 1976. The other photo of John Street was taken on the same day as the below photo. I know the Blade (lived a few doors as me and his son was a childhood friend of mine) reading the programme and you can see on the front cover that it is from the 1976-77 season. When I first saw both photos taken from the same photographer some years ago I think our opponents on that day were Blackburn Rovers.

Do you (or Silent) have a date for the above pictures?
Thanks in advance
SB has answered your question in #26799, for myself I just collect photos of the Blades games and owt to do with the club and ground.
Being an old codger it gives me an interest and something to hand down to future family members i will never meet.

That Blade you know reading the programme isn't Mick McManus is it, he certainly has a look of him:D One for you older wrestling fans.

Bit of a long shot but do any of you football historians know what team this might be? I think it is a Sheffield works team probably around 1889 to 1898 as my great Grandad at the back in the middle, the tall one a goalkeeper looks in his early 20's I would say... Few different looking shirts so could have been made by Errea ;)
